Udon

If you are in the area and are dying for ramen, do yourself a favor and buy a plastic bowl of instant ramen at the grocery store and add boiling water instead of coming here.
I had the Tampopo Ramen.
Like a previous review, there is no flavor in the broth and it is topped with freeze dried corn and green onion, just like the instant stuff.
The meat was just a bunch of fat slices.
Also tried the curry chicken gyoza. It would have been OK, if cooked properly. The top of the gyoza was still opaque white and not cooked.
Mall food fail.

Had the broccoli and mushroom city with white rice. Was ok and light but not tasty. Used soy sauce to make it taste better. Friends had the noodles Amb brou which they thought was meh. Was food for energy but not amazing delicious.

Accueil normal, on est attablé sur des grande tables, sur des bancs, à côté des uns des autres. Le concept est sympa.
J’ai pris des ramen, bon ok ce sera pas les ramen de ma vie !

Es rápido, asequible, está rico y es ligero. Sirve para sacar de un apuro sin dejar la sensación de que has comido cualquier cosa. Casi todo en la carta está hecho a base de fideos, incluso su «sushi», que los utiliza en lugar del arroz.
Siempre he pedido para llevar, pero los locales de esta franquicia son agradables, con una decoración sobria y mesas grandes que invitan a la conversación.

after working our way through the nearby picasso museum we stopped in here. the food was decent the service was helpful, albeit they seemed understaffed. it was at about 70% capacity and they appeared to have only one server working.

Made the mistake of going here twice. First time to try it out. Second, because of convenience. It was ok the first time because we were super hungry. Second time was awful. The translated English menu had major typos.
I ordered the yakisoba green curry chicken dish and instead they gave me buckwheat soba noodles. Something I’m deathly allergic to and instead of easily changing the dish to what was on the English menu; the waitress argued back and forth with us for a few minutes. She pointed on the Spanish menu it states wheat noodle (aka buckwheat noodles). Which was true… HOWEVER, the lamely translated English menu stated the dish came with yakisoba noodles (aka flour noodles). For a restaurant that credits itself as Japanese, they should know the difference between Yakisoba and soba noodles. She finally changed the order after having a tantrum and slamming the kitchen drawers and dishes. Really unprofessional and unnecessary.
It addition to the bad service. The menu had other major typos. The description for the salmon salad and chicken salad were reversed. We’ve been in Spain for about a week and this is the worst experience we had so far with restaurants and English menus. I know they’re trying to market this place to westerners and Asians but they need a better translator for their menu and better food.
And finally, the prices are pretty outrageous for some noodles. A bowl of noodles shouldn’t cost 9 – 10 euros. I would advise to them to spend more money on fixing their menu, food and customer service than their marketing and interior. Don’t go here.
P. S. the wi-​fi sucks too. Connection is awful trying to log onto to use.

We lived in Japan and know really good Japanese food… unfortunately Udon is not that great and certainly not authentic. It’s also really expensive for what you get. Be ready to pay a lot for not so good «Japanese» food…

My boyfriend and I were in search of some comfort food, having exhausted pretty much everything tapas during our 11 day trip to Barcelona. A quick Unilocal search pulled up Udon and we headed out. We both love udon, so we thought we’d give it a try.
The udon was fine. Nothing special and nothing really worth remembering. The flavors weren’t super present, but it was nice to eat something different than the same tapas we’d had all week. The warmth of the broth was especially appreciated by my boyfriend, as he was nursing a cold at this point in the trip.
I had a cup of coffee, which was pretty standard, but my boyfriend had a blended frappé type coffee drink and it was outstanding. Very flavorful and delicious.
Staff was very friendly. The interior was a little IKEA-​esque, but clean and very presentable. The prices were pretty high, but I suppose that makes sense since they seemed to be one of the only (if not THE only) place in the city that served udon.

Added onto the tip. If you have the time try somewhere else anywhere else for your Asian fix. Will not be a repeat customer, definitely a microwaved soup

I have to agree with review Jean, but I still dig it enough to give it a four stars. The soup is not out of this world, but it makes you feel like you’re at home. They use good quality ingredients as well; at least the seafood portion of my dish. I would come back here if I’m back in Barcelona.

Udon son restaurantes japoneses que, concretamente en Barcelona están instalados en diversos barrios de la ciudad. Para mi opinión, son restaurantes de comida rápida, fast food y take away, como los restaurantes dirty food americanos pero esos son japoneses ó eso dicen.
Parece mentira que un lugar donde el concepto de negocio está bién pensado, tengan la comida bastante decepcionante. Lo digo porque nos hemos dadp cuenta que hay platos de fideos que esos son instantáneos, osea, aquellos sobres de fideos con sabor que se suelen comprar en los supers chinos por unos 0,70 EUR y encima ellos te cobran 7 – 8 EUR. Bueno, no todo es del todo inaceptable porque el Ramen, en chiken ó tampopo ramen no están del todo mal (10,95 EUR). El Udon que está en el corazón del barrio de el Born es frecuentado principalmente por extranjeros que visitan el Museo Picasso entre otros lugares.

Schick und schlicht gestylter Laden mit wenig interessantem Essen im Stadtteil El Born. Eher langweilig europäisiertes Nudelfastfood und dafür deutlich zu teuer. Das Personal ist leider ebenso gelangweilt und eher desinteressiert. Keine Empfehlung.

would i go back? eh… probably because I am a Chinese person missing noodles in sandwich-​land Barcelona (my time in Barcelona consisted of many many many sandwiches. they LOVE to eat sandwiches there)

Cadena de comida especializada en fideos y platos japoneses. Los fideos están riquísimos la verdad, aunque el sushi lo he probado mucho mejor. Sirven diferentes tipos de fideos (tanto delgados, como fideos gorditos) y con diferentes acompañamientos, desde verduras a carnes o gambas.
Imprescindible si te gusta este plato.
Lo malo es que los postres no tienen nada de especial…
Además se puede pedir la comida para llevar.

Très bon restaurant de nouilles, dans une petite rue calme. Déco design, personnel aimable. Par contre petit, donc mieux vaut réserver ou venir hors heures de pointe.

Imagínate que vienen a visitarte varios amigos a Barcelona; estáis dando una vuelta por el barrio del Borne y a todos a la vez os coge un ataque repentino de hambre. No os da tiempo a salir del barrio, corréis el riesgo de baja por inanición, pero no podéis entrar en el primer garito que encontréis, corréis el riesgo de hipotecaros comiendo en uno de tantos restaurantes «in». En la calle Princesa avistáis un restaurante japonés que anuncia comida rápida y saludable al mismo tiempo ¿incompatible? Decidís comprobarlo por vosotros mismos… El resultado es justo el que buscabais: comida barata, servicio rápido y calidad media ¿qué más se puede pedir?
La filosofía de los locales Udon es parecida a la de los comedores de cole o las mensas alemanas, pero con un toque japo que lo moderniza y nos parece lo más: largas mesas en las que la gente toma asiento conforme va llegando, da igual que tengas a un desconocido codo con codo, tú quieres que te sirvan tus fideos y los quieres ya.
Si tienes un buche XXL y el menú a base de noodles no te sacia, puedes llevarte una ración extra para devorar por el camino. Si eres una persona normal y con el menú te quedas bien, tu desembolso ascenderá a 9,95 €. Una de las mejores opciones para grupos o para «take away» que puedes encontrar por esta zona en la que «el efecto guiri: precios hinchados» hace estragos…

Leckere Suppen, nette spartanische Einrichtung, nicht wirklich ein Restaurant sondern eher ein High Class Imbiss. Ich kann die «very good rolls» empfehlen, Sushi mit Nudeln statt Reis und frittiert, lecker. Wer ein echt japanisches Erlebnis sucht ist falsch aber nach ner Sightseeingtour oder zum Abschluss des Shoppings né entspannte Sache. Ich gehe dort regelmäßig hin. Vor allem weil es dort ruhig ist, irgendwie schafft es der Laden, dass alle Leute sich angeregt aber gedämpft unterhalten und das obwohl es ein kleiner Raum mit vielen Sitzgelegenheiten ist. Der Papayasalat ist kein thailändischer Papayasalat sondern ein leckerer Salat mit Papaya.

Interessantes lokal aber leider nur aufgrund Seines Designs. Das essen ist im Bezug auf seinen preis überteuert. Es hat leider nicht so gut geschmeckt.

Sehr stilvolle, schlichte Einrichtung, aber grauenhaftes Essen, so wie man es in Japan niemandem vorsetzen könnte. Es schmeckt europäisiert und die Zutaten sind von keiner guten Qualität. Schade!

La franquicia de ‘Udon Noodle bar’ está especializada en platos típicos japoneses, aunque ‘occidentalizados’. Su decoración minimalista utiliza el blanco, rojo y negro en mesas y asientos, y quizás los platos no son tan japoneses como los que se pueden encontrar en otros restaurantes típicos, pero los que comiencen a aventurarse en este tipo de cocina los encontrarán aceptables.
Concretamente, el que está situado en la calle Princesa, es uno de los mejores de la ciudad de Barcelona de esta cadena. En otros que he estado, como en el da Illa Diagonal; se utilizan mesas y taburetes bastante incómodos, que te obligan a comer rápido y en mala postura. Aquí al menos hay más espacio, se está tranquilo, y los asientos son cómodos.
Aún así, tiene el defecto de todos los Udon, y es que las mesas son alargadas y para varias personas. Tipo comedor. Y si vas en grupo está bien, pero para comer y charlar con un par de amigos, no es demasiado recomendable
