Recomiendo merluza y tortilla. Buen ambiente, casi siempre a tope, buena calidad

Countless varieties of pinxto are presented for patrons to glide by and put on their plates. Cost between 1 – 3 € per item, so one can get full on some extraordinary and tasty treats. We were able to get hard cider(sidra) and Txakoli(Basque white wine) here. Both of these traditional drinks are just as important as the pinxtos. Fast waiter service. Friendly bartenders. This is fast food done right.

I’ve had Jamon all around Spain, and this was easily the most memorable. What really helps is the smell of freshly baking bread as you enter. A slice of jamon, piece of bread drizzled with olive oil is amazing.

Our first night in town we sought out this highly acclaimed spot and was thrilled that all expectations were met. Fun, friendly, inexpensive, and incredible food. My husband is a chef so we know our food. We sought out their jambon specialties, and highly recommend all of them.

If the food is good enough for world-famous Michelin-rated chef of Arzak, this place must be good. In «On the Road Again,» the foodie celebs visit La Cepa to eat jamon. I was on a mission to try their jamon — the specialty of this restaurant. I loved the jamon here so much, I returned twice during my visit! I had a jamon at one of the other pintxos bars, and was so disappointed, I had to make it up by visiting La Cepa before leaving San Sebastian. Don’t forget your mind your manners here and throw that paper napkin on the floor and eat no more than two per pintxos bar! Also, get the txakoli while in Basque Country. Add this to your must eat list in San Sebastian!

We actually walked in here without doing any research on what pintxos bars were«must-trys». It looked crowded, the food looked good, and I was starving. We planned on stopping at a few places so we only tried a handful of things, but my favorites were the tortilla de bacalau and Gildas(anchovies, olives, and guindilla peppers on a skewer). We stood at the bar and drank Txakoli next to three burly, lively Basque men. A very authentically Donostian experience!

We never quite figured out what the right time was for Tapas versus dinner in Spain… So, when we arrived it was fairly empty and they were just putting out tapas and by the time we left a few locals strolled it. Service was OK, nothing above and beyond for helping navigate the language barrier, but definitely polite. Food was very good and reasonable priced.

I’d seen this place on TV and so booked a table for 8 for pintchos(tapas). Everything felt and looked like the place had been there for decades(which it has). A lot of tourists in there but a lot of locals too, friendly service, REALLY delicious tapas and lovely chilled red wine. I recommend the anchoas(anchovy), the jamon et queso tapas with crema and the gavilla. Bill was 155 Euros for 8 people, which I thought reasonable since we stuffed ourselves silly…

More like 3.5 stars. The Jamon was good but I never had bad Jamon in this town. The tortilla was still cold Inside. Maybe she needed to put it in the microwave for a tad longer. I wasn’t able to have the seafood here — just the tortilla and a jamon sandwich and one other jamon dish. If at a loss, jamon is always a way to go. I just wish I got to try some of the other better dishes here. Next door’s La Viña was so solid compared to this place and the service so much better.

It’s funny even though I dated someone Catholic for a long time, I still forgot how said Catholicism affected my ability to get food in Spain on Sunday nights. Well Bar La Cepa to the rescue. Not only that, amazing food to the rescue. Our original choice was obviously closed and I happened to remember this during my research. We arrived and it was crowded even at 1030pm. we took a spot at the bar closest to the kitchen which turned out to be a blessing. This is definitely one of the must do’s in the old town central. Things you must know: –Their cured meats are awesome. They are known for their Jabugo and sausages. Take a good gander at what is hanging from the ceiling. –Their seafood on the plancha is also excellent. Hake and squid especially. Watch the chef do his magic if you’re at the bar –They have some of the best bread I’ve ever had period. This includes all the Michelin star places in Spain and all over the world. There’s a guy that makes it right behind the bar in this toaster oven-ish area. I could not get over how awesome that stuff was. you could fill up on that alone. Super nice people to boot. Definitely a gem in the area, but the locals all already know this. 4.5 stars
