I love this place. Came here several times for a tapa and beer. Tapa is of course free with the beer.
The interior is very spanish which I love. But I prefer to sit outside and watch the view.
What made this place so good for me… the croquetas! The Spinach croquetas! Best I ever had!

mistaken this place for the #1 reviewed restaurant on Unilocal that has similar name and near by. The food was avg at best. Can not recommend to others.

En las repetidas ocasiones que he podido venir a Granada con el paso de los años, la Antigua Bodega Castañeda ha sido un punto de paso relativamente habitual. Tienen fama de tener unas tapas y unas raciones muy ricas a buen precio, y es verdad, pero es complicadísimo venir a comer con cierta tranquilidad porque siempre, y digo siempre, está hasta la bola de gente.
Recuerdo que una vez me comí una ración de ahumados que me gustó mucho, lo que unido a las cervezas y otras tapas del local, hicieron que me llevara un grato recuerdo de aquí.
El resto de las veces que he venido ha sido prácticamente imposible comer algo más que una tapa y luego salir pitando del agobio de gente. Otras veces ni me he planteado entrar… Creo que ni viniendo con tiempo se arregla lo de encontrar sitio: P

Like another review, I mistakenly went to this place instead of the REAL Bodegas Casteneda nearby. This place is awful. The service is grim and the food is on par with what you’d get from a vending machine. I had never been served with watered-​down wine before my visit here. Awful, be warned. Check the photos of this and the real Bodega and make sure you land at the right place!

Dont get confused with this place. This is NOT Bodega Castañeda… This place is another family business taking advantage of the name. The good one is behind this one.
We ordered a «surtido de tapas» and the bread was so hard that we couldn’t eat it. And the ribs never came and instead they served us poorly cooked wings. The ensaladilla rusa seemed to be made 3 days ago and overall the service was awful.

Bodegas Castañeda is quite spacious for a tapas bar — in addition to sitting at the bar, one can also sit inside at a table or outside. What I loved most about the bar was that it is a place where a group of friends can meet and hang out over a few drinks and small plates, but it is also perfect if you’re just looking to kill a little bit of time on your own with a good book and a glass of wine. The bar is vibrant and energetic at all hours. No one is judging you, no one cares.
In addition to the great atmosphere, the tapas at Bodegas Castañeda are top-​notch. Although I had eaten dinner about two hours earlier, I somehow found room in my stomach for a wonderful, fluffy, and generous helping of tortilla espanola. Between this and a glass or two of the house table wine, I was able to enjoy a final low-​key night in Granada.

La comida ahí es excelente, sobretodo las tablas de embutidos ibéricos. En cuanto a la bebida predomina fundamentalmente los vinos y también están deliciosos. Los precios son un poco elevados, pero nada del otro mundo comparados con la alta calidad que se sirve.
