Excellent dinner. My wife and I shared an appetizer of artichokes and anchovies and had flaked cod and tomato sauce — best dish of the night. Also pig cheeks that were very good but paled a bit next to the cod. Good daily wine selection. Helpful and attentive service.

came here twice in one day. First time was awesome, second time was a little disappointing… waitstaff seemed to grow uninterested over the course of the day(even for Spain). Super authentic place, almost all locals over the age of 50. Substantial tapas(seafood, paella, bread, etc.) with every drink. By far the cheapest drinks + tapas in town. If it’s not crazy crowded, definitely pop in for a drink.

We loved the atmosphere of hanging hams and chopping knifes cutting up vegetables. We enjoyed the salad of peppers and onions. The tapas with sauteed mushrooms was delicious. I thought the waiter was very friendly and helpful.

Not going to lie, my first impression upon walking in wasn’t good. It was bustling with people and harried looking waiters, and the waiter spent the entire evening alternating between rushed service and completely ignoring us. I’d been in Spain for a while at this point so I was used to less-than-stellar service, but this waiter was on a whole other level. I was annoyed that there was pork on almost ever single shared portion including the shared cheese plate my friends and I eventually shared. Who makes cheese with ham? The Spanish, apparently. Besides the service, the cheese variety was good, as was my bacalao tapa. I just wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place to others — someone recommended it to me, but I can’t remember who at the moment. Portions are fairly large so check with the waiter so you don’t over order. I’d say this place is worth trying if it isn’t crowded — otherwise, move on.

We tried this place after reading about it in Rick Steves’ travel guide. I wish I would’ve read reviews on Unilocal first, because the bad reviews I just saw were spot on. If you’re American or may be mistaken as such, don’t bother – they’ll treat you like dirt and make you wonder if it’s something YOU did. We thought that perhaps it was just an off night, or maybe it was just that one bartender, so we went back a second time later in the week(we really wanted to like this place). Same exact result, only this time it was multiple of them being rude, rushing us, and generally making us feel unwelcome. They particularly hated that we were taking up precious table space, which made things even worse for us. As for the food – mediocre, at best. They refused to give us the house salad we wanted and made us order a different salad with a huge, solid block of tuna and several anchovies on it instead. Really, I just wanted some vegetables without all the salty meat that I had been eating for days, and this did NOT fill that need. The croquette was good, but that’s the only thing I ate there that I would consider ordering again. We did NOT get the free tapa with our drinks that everyone around us got, probably because they hated us. This place is a waste of time and money – go to the wonderful restaurant across the street instead(pulperia noray).

DONOTLETTHEWAITERRECOMMENDDISHESFORYOU. My girlfriend and I came in to grab a beer with some tapas. As I’m sure most people have the assumption that tapas are small dishes with varying types of food(meat, veggies, fruit, etc.) and low in cost– just wanted something to pick at while we drank. The waiter knew we wanted tapas as that is what we told him so he suggested(what we thought) was a few tapas. He gave us three massive meat dishes: one tasteless steak, one mystery meat in chef boyardee sauce from 20 years ago, and potatoes drenched in grease. All totaling 40 euros, the most we paid for a meal in Europe. We thought with tapas and two beers we’d spend 10 euros. Very disappointing.

I would have rated this place four stars but the bar tender so clearly hated us from the second we walked in for no other reason than we were clearly American that we had to knock it down(we were in turn extremely polite to him). We ordered the manchego and iberico ham tapas, fried peppers, and the bacalao(salted cod). The bacalao was the best I had in Spain, amazing cured fish. The rest was also quite tasty. Their wine was also excellent.

Came here for lunch with the family and it was packed. Luckily, we were able to find a table for four and the waiter quickly came over to help us. We decided to get a couple of the tablas combinadas and a hearty salad to share. We ordered the larger size of the Embutidos Ibericos Bellota and Ahumados and asked for the House Salad, but the waiter suggested a different one with more stuff on it, so we did that. The salad had the standard salad greens and then a massive chunk of tuna and some anchovies. The salad was good, but the tuna and anchovies were a bit too salty and we just wanted greens so probably should have stuck to the house salad. The Embutidos Ibericos Bellota featured four different meats and was good, but for the price, they probably should have included more meat, particularly since it seemed much smaller than the Ahumados(smoked fish). The fish was nicely smoked and plentiful. Aside from the overly salty anchovies, we gobbled up the rest. Service was fine and I’d love to come back to try the tapas. Just beware of the anchovies.

Wise as tapas I didn’t find this place to be anything special. But maybe we ordered wrong — which is very likely since the menus are not offered in English and the waiters are super rude if you don’t speak fluent spanish. You’ll very likely find yourself ignored or unable to figure out how to get a seat in this place especially during peak hours. All and all not worth in my opinion.

Beware: Advice from a foodie from NYC. AWFUL service and mediocre tapas. Trip Advisor 4.5 rating you see on the window is from 2012!!! Servers were very inattentive, considering there were very few customers and 5 waitstaff. They do not speak English and are condescending if you don’t speak Spanish. Our server was rude and got our order wrong. Not only did one of our dishes not come out, they charged us for the wrong tapa even though they told us it was ok. When I pointed it out to the waiter that he charged us for that tapa, he said in Spanish«You ate it didn’t it?» and I said“yes well, the tapa we asked for never came out!”(and it wasn’t even good). They were nonapologetic and rushed us out before we got our change so they can seat another couple. TIP: English menu does NOT match the Spanish one line by line so be careful when you order. E.g., we pointed to the English menu that we wanted the mussels and he gave us dried tuna(mojama).

Food was decent, service was crap. Started out ok then got ignored for the rest. Made eye contact, waved, nothing. Late Tuesday night, was not busy at all. Noticing a trend with certain Spanish servers who assume your American(we’re Canadian, if it mattered) who treat you like crap for no reason. I even spoke Spanish the brief time we interacted… There’s way to many good restaurants in Granada to waste your time here. Go elsewhere and enjoy yourself! Especially if you’re North American…

Crazy-busy place located in two store fronts across an alley. Seating is inside both store fronts and in the alley. Waiters frantically race across the alley mixing with customers looking for tables, pan– handlers and general pedestrian traffic. Unfortunately the excitement ended there for me. We ordered from the house specials section — stuffed eggplant and bacalao pil-pil. The eggplant was tasty and served with a nice side of greens. But it has a mass of melted orange and yellow cheese on top. Very unappealing, especially the orange cheese — didn’t look authentic. The cod was short on garlic and chile pepper, the main features of pil-pil, and the accompanying shrimp were over cooked. I saw many better looking plates pass by. Our neighbors ordered a mixed cold tapas and it looked great. It was piled high with pâté, cheeses, olives, smoked salmon, chorizo etc. I think tapas and raciones are better choices and have plenty of sangria!

I wish I had eaten more when I was there. We stopped in for some tapas and wine. Before we even had a chance to look at the menu, they brought out the octopus salad. The salad had slices of peppers and onions, large chunks of octopus, all with a seasoned oil. Delicious. After that, we ordered the ham and asparagus seen in the picture. The ham was excellent, as it was pretty much wherever we ended up ordering it. The asparagus was served with hearts of palm and some other greens. It paired well with the ham. As we ordered our second round, they brought us a plate of shrimp. Perfectly cooked, a great addition. The wine as great, as it was most places. We were trying not to return to many places on our trip so we could try more, but this was one restaurant that I regretted not returning.

Excellent tapas and great atmosphere. Don’t go to the wrong place. There are two places with same name. Although this is the real deal I think his place is located in wrong location on Unilocal. It is slightly further up the same street. This has a big Bulls head on the wall and hams hanging above the desk. We had Machego cheese plate, bacalo pil pil(cod in amazing olive oil and garlic sauce), sun dried tuna, cured cod, anchovies tapas and Spanish omelet. All amazing!!! Even the bread is fresh and not dry like you find in other places. We also ordered a great bottle of local red wine. Fonterei. Wow. A highlight on our trip to Granada.

When we got to Bodegas, it was already 11:30 pm on a week day, so we were able to get a table right away. As the menu all in Spanish and the waiter didn’t speak English, we struggled to order but the waiter was very patient and he understood what I wanted to order with my very limited Spanish. I told the waiter I wanted cheese, hams and stuff and he got us Tabla Castaneda Fria. Although it was a medium portion, it was a lot of food for two. But the cheese was so amazing I could not stopped eating. We pretty much finished everything except the pates, as I am not a fan of any pates. The only minus point would be the bathroom was so disgusting. But again, it is a bar so that’s that. I would definitely come here again and next time I will be prepared what to order!

Simply awesome. Totally packed even when off season and in the middle of the week. We were lucky to get a table and couldn’t be happier about it. The food was delicious. We ordered the cold tapas combo plate and we couldn’t eat more. The waiter who served us was really friendly and he did not impose himself on us. I would come again 100%.

Free tapas with any drink! Probably a common tradition in Granada, but very exciting for tourists. It gets super busy around 2:30pm, so I’d recommend getting here a bit earlier. I’d give this place 5 stars, but I thought that the«service» was lacking. It took maybe 20 minutes for us to get the bill. I presume we get worse treatment because we’re Asian — the table behind us were Caucasian and were attended too very quickly. Sangria was NOT very good, so I’d stick with wine or beer. It didn’t have much flavor — lacked in wine taste and fruit taste, so it was odd. I ordered 2 sangrias, 1 cerveza, and 1 coke for € 7.80. The coke was the most expensive order! Our drinks came with paella and pigs feet. The paella was probably the best I’ve had in Spain. It wasn’t the touristy paellador and was very saucey. Pigs feet may sound weird, but it was actually pretty tasty and my dad enjoyed it. Everyone was eating the pigs feet and even asked for seconds!

Definitely worth the wait for the nice barkeeps. Some items on the menu are super-greasy but the ham plates and cheese plates are great. If you don’t get here early, its tough to enjoy all that this bar has to offer because just a bit after opening it gets packed.

This tapas bar was always packed every time I would walk back to my hotel. It’s close to Catedral/Capilla Real. Just like in most tapas bars in Granada, order a drink and you’ll get free tapas. A glass of beer is less than 8oz so you can easily keep ordering beers and get free tapas with them. They also gave me a plate of green olives. I stood at the bar and I got 2 beers and ordered 2 more tapas so I can sample what they got. I got the croquetas, jamon, stuffed peppers and bacon(not the crispy version you’re familiar with). Everything I got was excellent! Great flavors and textures. They have very limited tables and seats. In fact, they have about 2 – 3 big wine barrels as tables with some chairs, and a regular table on the right of the bar. Don’t expect bar stools at the bar either. But the service is great. Come here around 6:30pm to avoid the chaos.
