After a long day of driving in complete circles around malaga trying to find our hotel –we were exhausted and hungry! with the suggestion of our hotel we went to Manzanilla, and this recommendation was spot on! The setup:] situated near the city center and hidden off the beaten path –but just a few back ally ways off– is where I had a fantastic evening of cava and tapas. expect mainly bar seating, there is an enclosed area with a few tables but why miss out on the fun of people watching. there is loads of standing space –perfect for mingling which is typical of most tapas restaurants– and a table railing along the outer perimeter of the place. The vibe is fresh, order as you please, take your time, and enjoy your conversations –I love the spanish cadence of life and eats! To eat:] wait drinks, first! 3.5 Euro for acopa de cava of the day, 1.5e for cana(beer) drink up my friends, this is the true fashion of enjoying a meal in spain –with a good buzz– My recommendations: Patatas Bravas-yum, a must when in spain, cooked with love, not dried out and the sauce is amaze! Croquetas Salchichan– salted cod fritters, our first experience in spain and the salty goodness pairs perfectly with a cold, refreshing beer! 2 per serving, start with one and move along:) Gazpacho– yum, cherry tomato drizzled with olive oil and fresh cheese crumbles. great starter Burger Bull– you have to order it, perfect size, 2 bites if shared so I suggest ordering your own. cooked to juicy perfection on a brioche bun? must do this on your ordering! Honorable mention:] Menu’s in English and Spanish, perfect for a casual night our or one to take a date for starter cocktails and snacks. prices are fair, we ordered until we decided we should rest our taste buds from the flavor explosion and walked out spending around 36euros 6 drinks included in that too! No american express

It seems like Dani Garcia’s taken over the world(or at least Andalucia) in the last couple of years with his gourmet tapas bars. This one, down a dark, narrow alleyway in the heart of Malaga’s old town, is great. There’s a lively vibe at almost any time you go, and the food — whether it’s the signature bull burgers, the Moorish-style pinchos or the unusual takes on a classic gazpacho — is also reliably good.

«You’ve got to go to this cool place and try the bull’s tail burger!» Now this was an intriguing recommendation for a tapas bar — I was a little put off by the«burger» part, but intrigued by the«tail» part. And the recommendation came from the seemingly trust-worthy source of Kay Farrell, of Malaga Bike Tours and Rentals(see my other review). Apparently the chef is an amazing culinary genius, with a michelin star in one of his other restaurants. So, I gave it a try and have to say it was delicious! The bulls tail burger was a little mini tapas size burger, like no burger I’ve ever tasted, and I almost wanted to order a second one. I drank the delicious local vega del geva wine, and then ordered a few more things. All was good… I remember eating a taco that was delicious. I am very surprised to be recommending a tapas bar in Spain that serves burgers, hot dogs and tacos, but it was just that good!
