After a very busy citytrip trough Andalusia we stayed at the Don Carlos resort. I — not the resort type of girl — fell in love with it. I’m gonna tell you why.
There are a lot, and I mean a lot of facilities. Here it comes: warmed pool, kids pool, pool with waterfalls, many relaxing areas, a beach, Nikki beach, 3 restaurant, amazing breakfast, bar entertainment every evening, most beautiful spa I’ve ever seen, tennis, golf, soccer, basketball court.
Okay, that said. Why you have to go here:
— Breakfast: the most enhenced breakfast I’ve ever seen.
— Spa en wellness: most beautiful spa I’ve ever seen. The biggest of the Costa del sol with such a kind people working there. Really relaxing.
— The people are the sweetest thing.

The Don Carlos hotel is known to many for its funky, individual design. Originally a 70’s hotel tower the resort now features two additional bedroom wings renovated in 2006, a new sports and leisure club, rolling gardens, beach club and range of eight restaurants and bars.
My favourite part of the hotel are the 24 VIP one or two-​bedroom villas with the ultimate in service features like private check-​in, personal butler and mini coopers at guests’ disposal.
Convention rooms are large, with 1,300 people easily accommodated. An enlarged spa complex of 2,000m2 is the latest opeing to compete with other nearby hotels.
I got the chance to visit their own beach club reached by wandering through lush gardens down to the sea. Food and drink are available all day, and I sampled excellent fruit mocktails but if it’s the ultimate Marbella experience you’re after — visit the infamous Nikki Beach Club next door to party on day beds with live music, percussion, dancers and the best Eurotrash atmosphere.

Ich hatte das Vergnügen, vor einigen Jahren geschäftlich im Don Carlos untergebracht zu sein. Leider habe ich oft den Meetingraum gesehen — der sehr gut ist, allerdings wenig Ausblick bietet (wahrscheinlich um die sehnsüchtigen Blicke auf den Strand zu reduzieren).
Das Hotel ist seiner Klasse entsprechend, Zimmer mit hohem Standard (aber klassisch), das Essen vorzüglich und vor allem die direkte Lage überhalb des Nikki Beach auch für private Reisen zu empfehlen. Der Pool ist gepflegt und die Anlage bis runter zum Strand (ca. 5 Minuten Fußweg durch den wundervollen Garten) ist einfach herrlich entspannend.
Das Hotel gehört sicher noch zur «alten Garde» in Marbella und versteht sich auf den Service alter Schule ohne alt zu wirken. Das Publikum ist nicht der typische «Marbella-​Schickimicki», aber dafür mit Stil (wenn auch nicht das jüngste).
