Se tapea bien, el servicio es bueno y los precios buenos, aconsejable. Tapear en los veladores de San Jacinto siempre es agradable!

when visiting a foreign country or a new city, my husband likes to hunt for the places where a local would eat, b/c he believes that these places will have better food and reasonable prices as they are not necessarily catered towards tourists. we were told by someone at the tourism office that this part of sevilla, west of the guadalquivir river, was not very touristy, and also had more«authentic» cuisine, catering to the locals. well, i’m glad that we made the trek over here, b/c we had a very tasty and filling lunch! there was very little seating inside, so we picked a table outside. it was quite crowded at this time, around 1400, since this is still the beginning of the daily siesta, when most locals tend to close up shop and eat lunch. fortunately, there were only 2 of us, and we aren’t very big, so we were able to grab the small two-seater table and sit semi-comfortably amongst the locals. i assume they were locals b/c everyone spoke spanish and i didn’t see a single tourist book or guide map on another restaurant patron’s table. for our first meal in sevilla, we ordered several tapas to share: +mussels — served cold, this was a small racion of mussels in a spicy red sauce. since i don’t do mussels or spicy food, my hubby had the pleasure of eating this all by himself! +spanish olives — served cold, this was a really generous portion of an appetizer. the olives were plump and savory. +chicken with french fries — average portion of chicken, mostly dark meat i’d say, with the skin still attached. i’m more of a white meat/skinless chicken type of gal, but this dark meat was pretty good, very juicy with the herbs and sauce that they put on it. the fries were just ok. spain isn’t really known for their fries, but they did put a decent amount next to the chicken. they actually tasted pretty good when dipped in the sauce that came with the chicken! +salmon — nice fillet of salmon with some mild red sauce on top. the fish was made well, maybe even fished out of the guadalquivir river since it tasted pretty fresh. there was a very small side of green salad that accompanied the salmon. +pimientos roja(stuffed red peppers) — i’d come to love pimientos in espana, so this was probably my favourite dish. i have no idea what they put inside the red peppers, but it was creamy and zesty. our meal came with a basket of sliced bread and breadsticks. this was my first time having breadsticks in spain, so i was definitely curious to try. they were ok, nothing really special, but it was a nice change from the typical plain white bread. hubby ordered a beer and i had a bottle of cold water. these were much needed b/c it was a very, very warm and humid day in sevilla. the total bill for all of our food and drinks was € 13,35, which was amazing considering how much we ate(i don’t even think we finished everything since we got full very quickly!) this was definitely worth the trek across the bridge to the other side of the city. i definitely recommend walking a bit further, away from the high tourist areas if you want some authentic local food and want to save a few €€!

This a place that seems popular with the locals. Not many tourists. It specializes in fried fish(like some others around). The quality of the food is acceptable. Had better olives, the fried fish was good, and the jamon was ok. Friendly service. It being full with locals, prepare for some noise…
