Great little shop with Czech made stationary and paper products. Love its simplicity and design, they can also make any custom paper products. They could be bit better stocked but still have a great variety of products from notebooks, tapes and wrapping paper — they definitely have me coming back. Love supporting shops like these!

Stationery shops are my favorite and I honestly didn’t expect to find such a good one in Prague, but I did! Papelote is a Czech brand and they mostly sell things from local /national illustrators and designers, which I think makes it even more fun. There’s also more global things like washi tape and origami papers, though. Worth a visit if you like paper, postcards, tape, etc. And yes, it’s indeed quite a bit more expensive than most shops in Prague, but cheap compared to similar shops in Western Europe. And hey, it’s paper! There must be more paper lovers like me out there?! :)

I’ll say it right now: I am a proud papersexual. Office supply stores, art supply stores, greeting card stores… stationery is the stuff of my dreams. Papelote is a beautiful paper store with colourful and gorgeously bound notebooks of all sizes. Paper comes blank, lined, gridded, and dotted. There are art prints and post cards and pens and elastics. There are felt pockets for storing your iPad, tablet, notebooks, or other doodads, each with a button closure and constructed with large heavy yarn stitches. The music playing is appropriate. For lack of a better description, it’s what you may hear in a large independent café full of stuffed armchairs. The owner is so friendly and unintrusive — she let me browse uninterrupted for what must have been an hour. Prices, in true Czech fashion, are right. The only thing that stopped me from buying more was the size of my small travelling backpack. I might order some stuff from their online store soon if I can’t help myself. Definitely stop by if you are in the area!
