As you can see from the name(polevka = soup) and the inside décor(in case you don’t know the Czech word for soup, the cca eight different world language translations should give you a hint), this little eatery built its existence around soups. And soups they do make well indeed. They have four options every day. We tried the very traditional Czech tripe soup(‘drstkova’) and the a smoked meat soup(‘uzena’) and they were both nice for a quick lunch. You can choose either a 0.33 litre or 0.45 litre portion, depending on how hungry you are. If you do go for the soup, don’t forget to buy a nice and crispy traditional Czech roll(‘rohlik’). Aside from soups, the eatery also serves some traditional Czech main dishes(I suppose the daily menu might differ, but there was e.g. goulash, potato dumplings stuffed with smoked meat, etc.). At prices ranging from 30 — 50 crowns for the small/big soups and around 80 crowns per main, this is a really good deal for a quick bite in the city center. This place has a canteen-like setup, but when I was there, it was spotless clean and the soups were good, so I wouldn’t hesitate to try it again.
