I came here with two friends to grab breakfast on the way back from Prague Castle, and I got a raspberry pastry. It was okay. The pastry could have been fluffier, although I was glad that it wasn’t too sweet. There was a pretty good selection of pastries although they were a bit expensive. Not bad though!

Even though we had heard from the natives that the«sweet bread» we saw being peddled through old town square and really throughout Prague were made for tourists, we still got lured in to this small bakeshop. Their very effective technique is to have a large open oven grill with multiple pastries wrapped around each stick and grilled. They then top it with the sugar, cinnamon, and walnuts. Of course with the trdelník(Hungarian sweet pastry) just rotating every so slowly, the wonderful smell engulfs you and hooks you right in. They certainly look beautiful with their golden brown coating and when served fresh it is really a great snack. But the smell certainly hypes it up to be something much more. They have tons of other pastries as well. Because I wasn’t able to try other sweet breads I can’t say definitively if you should come here because there are so so many pop-up stands and shops selling this touristy goodie. Hope this narrows it down though!

Decent trdelník, but definitely not the best I’ve had! You should hold out for one that is warm and can be coated in different things, like almonds and walnuts.

We were walking by and saw these pastries amazing pastries baking in the window and thought we just had to try them. We found out it was a trdelnik. It was a long roll of dough that was wrapped around another stick and then grilled. It also was covered in a sugar/cinnamon mixture. Absolutely delicious! Although, I was expecting it to be sweeter and more desserty, it tasted more like a bread. Great snack if you’re walking around in Prague. We also decided to try this chocolate chip ginger bread cake that was shaped like a star. It was absolutely delicious! Not to sweet, super moist, and perfect for a light dessert after a meal. Definitely check this bakery out if you’re near the Old Town Square.

3.5 stars I liked this bakery so much I went here three days in a row. Even my Unilocal gf said, «I know these aren’t the BEST pastries you’ve had, so what gives?» The cabbage pie. The chorizo stick. The hotdog croissant. THEOLIVEBREAD. If there’s an ingredient that I can’t resist stuffed inside a piece of carb(aside from chocolate!) it’s olives. I’m not crazy about their traditional TRDLO(that’s an actual word), but it’s def much better than the ones you’ll find at the stalls in the central town square. This is much lighter, fresher and less sugar dusted on it. It’s like a hollow piece of circular pastry and the only thing I can compare it to is a cinnamon roll. Try it. Everything is so affordable, but if you’re REALLY broke(in Prague?!), go to a grocery store for your cheap snack.

My family and I were strolling through Prague when we saw a giant, hanging signpost in the shape of a hollow, circular pastry. I knew I had to go and check it out! As we approached there were rolls of dough being shaped on what looked like a lathe! Once shaped, the pastries were roasted over a spit until crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The finishing touchwas a bit of sugar on the outside. Sounds amazing, right?! Meh. The dough was flavorless(the sugar didn’t even help). The texture was nice but my piece, at least, was burnt on one end. When I ordered the pastries the lady put them in what appeared to be a microwave oven for a few minutes… so maybe they were crispy once but not when I got them. Verdict? Looks amazing but just walk on by … unless you want a coffee or something else that might taste better…

This place was pretty busy. My wife wanted to stop by and grab something to try. We had the short bread. It was pretty good. Not anything bad about the place. They gave her a scratch off ticket so you have the chance to win free things and go back there. I thought that was cool.
