Attention, tourists are cheated! /Achtung!!! Sucht euch also besser ein anderes Lokal.

Very nice typical czech place to drink good beer and eat a czech specialty. Super typisch tschechische Kneipe.

TL;DRSTAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACEIFYOU’RE A TOURISTTHATDOESN’T KNOWCZECH. THEYOVERCHARGEYOUWITHADDITIONALCOSTS. I went here for dinner with three other friends while visiting Prague. We saw that the prices on the menu at the door were reasonable and it was helpful they had an English version. However, after entering and being directed downstairs, where all the other tourists are directed, we found that they only had menus in Czech and did not accept credit cards. Because we were starving and wanted to just eat as soon as possible we stayed and ordered some traditional dishes like beef goulash with dumplings and pork knee with red cabbage, onions, rye bread, and horseradish. However, once we left to pay the bill they completely ripped us off by adding on additional charges not explained to us when we ordered like the salad is extra or the horseradish and other sauces were extra. So instead of paying 223 czechs for the pork knee we paid 319 because of those charges. I paid 380 for a chicken salad and a single beer. You can go anywhere else in the city and they’d tell you it was a complete rip off.

My friends and I were looking for a restaurant full of locals and authentic Czech food… we found that and more at U Rudolfina. This was our first meal in Prague, so we loved having Pilsner Urquell for the first time. Several of my friends ordered the Prague Feast, which was a plate full of various meats and other delicious things, and I got the Czech Pancake with vegetables(this is a vegetarian dish but it made all the meat-eaters at the table envious!). We were all STUFFED, but the food was so amazing that we forced ourselves to finish every bite. Many reviews warned us that the only English menu was posted on the door, so we all took pictures of it, but once in the restaurant, we were able to get English menus. I’m pretty sure we were the only tourists in the restaurants. The rest of it was full of locals, which was exactly what we wanted. The restaurant(which is past the pub and downstairs) was smoky(typical of any pub/restaurant in Prague), but we were seated in the back corner which was not very smoky at all. The service was great, food and beer was amazing, prices were fantastic, and location is wonderful(very close to the Charles Bridge and Old Town Square). If you are in Prague and looking for an authentic meal. this is a MUSTGO!

Entire menu is in Czech only. You’ll have to have the waiter translate or recommend dishes in english. Place was recommended by our tour guide in prague. Not bad. Ambience is very relaxing and has antique vibs, with wooden benches and a bar downstairs. Sausage dish(doesn’t come with anything else). its spicy and crispy on the outside. My friend loves the mustard sauce in prague in which most of the dishes come with. The horse radish is a little strong to our tasting. Chicken with crispy ham or bacon baked over the chicken. Has sour cream as the sauce and comes with these delicious potatoes. One of the larger portions that we ordered amongst my group. Beef dish that looked like goulash. It had a tangy gravy sauce with 2 small slices of beef and it came with infamous dumplings that look exactly like bread but are made of potatoes apparently. It’s very soft and I like it. But it’s majority of the dish. And it’s definitely not the traditional stuffed dumpling The food wasn’t anything amazing to me so I didn’t give it a high rating. But it wasn’t bad either.

I asked a friend for any suggestions on places to eat while I was in Prague and this one was at the top of her list. She visited Prague earlier this year and was brought here by a group of local law students. I made sure to check this place out once I got to Prague. It’s very close to the Charles Bridge so I thought that it would be packed with tourists. I went down the stairs to the basement and was surprised to see that it was packed with locals. Not a single tourist in sight other than me. I plopped down at an empty table in the smokey room and a bartender immediately came over to bring me a food menu. I ordered a beer to drink while perusing the menu. I quickly discovered that the menu was entirely in Czech. I asked the bartender if he happened to have one with any English on it and he told me that they only have menus in Czech. He was extremely nice and offered to describe the items to me if I would just tell him what type of meat I wanted to eat. I picked chicken and he rattled off five different chicken preparations. I chose one where the chicken was fried and covered with a garlic, cheesy cream sauce. I have no clue what it was called. It was excellent. It came with two very large pieces of chicken and the sauce and cheese were really good. This is a great place to come grab a beer and hang out with your friends. It is extremely smokey so keep that in mind if cigarette smoke bothers you. You can’t really escape it in Prague.
