Make a reservation in advance! Dont go to the restrooms! Order a large beer(not small) and get a roastbeef! Trust me, but find out for yourself!

Absolutely classic. Bohumil Hrabal used to drink here and if it’s good enough for him it’s good enough for me.

Seriously loved this place. This was our first stop and glad it was. We wanted a little bit of the local flavor, a little bit of beer(or a lot?) and some tasty Czech grub. Needless to say I’m happy we read Logosus’s review from Trip Advisor HERE: Essentially Logosus sums up ‘rules’ of drinking at The Golden Tiger/Lion(not sure what it actually is?!) and they are: 1. Do not order beer. It was ordered the moment you walked in. 2. Sit where you are told. 3. Order drinks with the white shirt waiter, not the green. 4. Beer will continue to come until you catch the waiter before you’ve finished your current beer. 5. Sit back and enjoy. Follow these simple rules and earn gold stars at the golden lion. We enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was fab. Get the beer cheese(it’s famous) and also the tartar was a healthy portion and I love that we got to mix it! Some places mix it for you and I love the food interaction. Mix the beer cheese together too. All in all a fun local beer house!

This is a tough pub to find when using basic directions, but very much worth it when you do find it. This is very much a local type pub, but also the type that you want to half a half liter or three in before going on your way. Bill Clinton did, as you can see via the picture of him on the wall. Though the pilsner is great and fresh here, know your Czech beer etiquette before attending. Don’t drink your beer until everyone at your table has a beer. Individually cheer with everyone before drinking. Tip your server or bartender directly. And give up your seat and table to anyone elderly that enters. The one problem that we ran into at this pub is a problem you can have in several Praha 1 pubs for locals: bartenders will often ignore female customers, and look to the male of the group for the order. Just know that this is a possibility.
