Had a reservation here for a Friday evening after reading all previous recommendations here at Unilocal. My company and I had been drooling for the pork knuckle one week before our arrival to Prague and my expectations were superhigh! We had the assortment of cold cuts as a starter(although all previous reviews told us not to eat a starter if we were aiming to eat the whole pork knuckle for two). However, we were hungry and so we did. In hindsight we should have listen to the previous reviews, not only because of the amount of food in both dishes but also since they resembled each other. The cold cuts were nice and the duck pâté was delicious. When it comes to the main course, the pork knuckle(and as a mentioned my expectations were high) I got a bit disappointed. I thought the meat would be more tender and juicy, but maybe I just ate the wrong parts? Although the sauerkraut was divine and the potatoes that came with the dish was also perfect. When it comes to the beer I am in love. I took the Vienna red and it was one of the best beers I have had. Even though my rating is not the highest I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like pork meat and microbrewed beer and good service!

Went in at about 10 on a Wednesday night and it was relatively busy, though finding a table was no problem. Ordered the ghoulash in bread bowl and it was the perfect late night meal to warm my soul. Topped with onions and some white stuff(cheese? It was good), the beef was tender and flavourful. The bread bowl offered a great carb-based medium for dipping and presenting the ghoulash to your gullet.

We came to Prague looking for good Czech beer and authentic Czech flavors we haven’t heard of or tried elsewhere in the world, to which end Pivovar provided a great answer. Other than the consistently amazing beer seen everywhere in town, we were blown away by the ginormous pork knuckle. Cut it yourselves with the huge knife standing in the meat, and dip it in the sour cream sauce to sample with the perfectly roasted potatoes. Understanding this may not be hailed as «THE best“knuckle in town, we did feast our face till we were ashamed of ourselves. Other things, including décor(wall full of angels painted over wood), service and price, were also worthy of a typical tourist’s praise.

First of all: Come early or book a table. We went around 6.30pm and got the last table avilable. A lot of people got sent away the next two hours because it was completely full. We came for the beer but also order two beer snacks(spicy sausage in some kind of stew and goat cheese on bread with a cherry sauce — both EXCELLENT). We tried all of their six beers and they were all very very good. The waitress was very friendly and fast(once our beer was gone, it didn’t take her more than 2 minutes to ask if we wanted another one). Beer prices a little higher than other places but reasonable considering it’s a micro-brewery and not some gigantic beer-brand. Would go again.

You really should try the pork knuckle at least once while you’re in Prague. Not that you have to go to this place, but the pork knuckle exceeded my expectations(I’m from Texas I would like to think I have some BBQ cred and this is practically BBQ). Yummy and juicy with the crispy edges. Definitely something you should share with someone(unless you’re trying to be like the guy from Man vs. Food). It’s A LOT. I wouldn’t suggest getting an appetizer before either unless you’re wanting to take some of the pork knuckle back to the hotel for a late night snack!

We had a nice time on the last floor of this restaurant. We had a salad and some side dishes. I discovered that beetroots can be nicely associated with goat cheese. The beers were ok. The decoration was great, we spent the evening looking at the walls, with all their history ! The waitress was really, really nice(maybe because we tried to speak a little bit of czech?). Altought it was a nice experience, it was more expensive than all or other meals and even if we didn’t eat any meat !

My husband and I ate here a few times when we were in Prague and easily recommend. Food and beer were filling, well prepared and super affordable.

Great place to have an amazing beer(under 3 $ for an IPA). Not loud, fast service but not rushed. Sausages with saurkrouat and delicious mustard as our app… wow. Rabbit and deer for the main… would have the rabbit again. Pricey for Czech, but not the US. Would come here each night of our stay if the wife would let.

Service is great. Ambiance is good. Place is clean. Centrally located. Prices are decent considering it being close to the center. Really good beers. Tried the steak tartare for the first time and it was awesome. Would definitely come back.

Let me just say Wow! We were looking for some traditional Czech food. We found it, plus amazing beer. To start, try the spicy sausages in beer sauce. Then of course we had to try and goulash which was great but what knocked our socks off was the smoked pork knuckle. It is huge so make sure you have room. But is a must!!! It was out of this world delicious.

This is our second trip here; 1st time, they stop accepting ppl 30min before close time regardless if you are just having beers/drinks. Today we went and the guy asked if we made reservations(dude it’s a brewery not that serious), he notice my annoyed look and seated us without«reservation» Anyway, the beers were great. And the food was not the best Czech dish I’ve had, but it was good.

I asked the guy at the hotel to recommend a good Czech restaurant close by for dinner and he suggested U Tri Ruzi which is Czech for The Three Roses. I ordered a beer called Dark Special, which they brew on the premises. The menu described it as «bottom-fermented dark beer prepared by five kinds of malt and well known hops from Zatec. Strong chocolate colour, delicate hop flavour». If I was a beer aficionado I would probably have said the same thing, but I’m not so I’ll just say that it tasted like Guinness to me. I wasn’t that hungry so I ordered something from the Beer Snacks section of the menu; spicy beef sausages roasted in dark beer for 120CZK. The sausages were sliced into thin, curled strips and served in a thick, spicy tomato, okra and garlic sauce. Very good, particularly considering I don’t much like tomatoes outside of salads. The service was fast and friendly, the price reasonable and like everywhere else in Prague’s old city, the place oozed ambience.

Air conditioned! Which is rare in Prague. The drinks were ice cold as well. Schnitzel was great as was the burger and beet salad. The deer and dumpling was also good but burger I thought was better. Prices were also very reasonable. About $ 10 us a plate.

Really nice pub. They brew their own beers, I’d recommend the dark lager. We had the beef soup, rabbit leg confit and grilled chicken. The soup was extremely flavorful and a nice starter. The rabbit leg confit was tender, and it came with yummy creamed spinach. It was also my first time trying rabbit so I was surprised by the tenderness and the flavor. The chicken was also good but the vegetables were a little over-salted.

We enjoyed our evening at The Three Roses. It was busy without being overwhelming so we found a table without any trouble… we noticed several groups making their way upstairs so there is obviously plenty of room. Beer is king here… we thoroughly enjoyed the light and semi-dark both served in glasses the size of small fish bowls! We ate well… goulash, warming and richly aromatic served in a bread bowl. Delicious. We also enjoyed chicken served with peppery savoury potatoes. This was a perfect venue after a day of sightseeing.

An authentic experience without being way too authentic. There are other bars in the area where if you want to really rub elbows with the some of the hardest drinkers in Prague, you can do so literally across the street in a dimly lit bar/tavern the size of a closet with Viking sized dudes smoking, drinking, and feasting up a storm. If that isn’t your scene, U Tří růží is a fine alternative(said in a full-on Rick Steves voice). If you’re cup of tea is chamomile and you enjoy a pace more similar to Mr. Steves then this place is more your style. They even played the World Professional Ballroom Dance Championships on TV. Nevertheless, this was a fine beer hall. They brew in-house beers and have several options to choose from aside from the Pilsner Urquell or Staropramen you can get literally everywhere. But the beer here is fantastic and varied. They can talk you through their menu and even suggest what foods go well with the beer. It is a little more expensive than other places but you get what you pay for in variety, flavor, and great all-around service. We ended up having the steak tartare with the grilled garlic bread, the Brewery Beef Burger(w/bacon, Emmental cheese, tomatoes, pickled gherkins, and fries), and also the soup of the day which was potato based soup topped with croutons. For beer we had the Single Hop Special from New Zealand which was light and aromatic and balanced well with the salinity of the meats. Everything was good, would definitely pop in again!

It’s a nice brewery with like ~8 different beers(from dark smoky, over normal lager to some red) and nice food aswell. A little bit more expensive, but just a little, i think about ~2−3 Euros a beer. Nothing to complain, everything was just nice!

Do you like Trappist monk Beers? I do. And if you do too, you NEED to get in here now. Picture the scene… We’ve been roaming Prague for hours, our feet are aching, we’re thirsty, cold and seeking a place where we can cure these ails. We stumble across a place that says in the window that they have monastery beer on tap, and we decide it’d be wrong NOT to go inside! And I’m so glad we did. Now, I’ll admit we didn’t order any food, we just ordered the dark monastery beer special. But the food everyone was eating looked fantastic. The pub brews their own beer inside, and they have several options to choose from based on what tastes you’re into.

You’ll pay a lot more than the going rate for beer here, but it’s worth it. We came here specifically because someone in our party had researched it, and it was defintely great that we did. It serves some incredible beers, which its own brewery produces. They’re a selection of much darker and more complex beers than the more standard Czech lagers — everywhere you go you’re going to get Pilsner Urquell or Staropramen, maybe a few other options. Here, it’s more sophisticated stuff, in smaller glasses and higher prices. But it’s worth it, definitely. We tried everything they had to offer, with a couple of snacks to go with them, and everyone was happy. For non-beer drinkers, the«Irish coffee» was a heavy-poured hit.

We stumbled up this nice little pub with it’s own brewery whilst walking along the streets near the old town. Cold and thirsty and wanting an authentic experience and not a tourist trap, we walked on in. My boyfriend enjoyed being able to chose from beers brewed in the pub itself and see all the shiny brewing equipment in front of us. To fit our Christmassy trip he selected the Christmas Amber, and I had a glass of local red wine. They were both reasonably priced and enjoyable. They serve food there, but we were only popping in for a drink. Lots of seating and the staff were nice and helpful and provide full table service even just for people having a drink. A nice place to pop in to.
