Amazing bartender! Quick service, even get a little but if a show when she was making the drinks. Amazing bar, affordable prices, and a very cool vibe! Must go.

The drinks here are amazing, all meticulously prepared, a great show in itself, but the bartenders are amazing. We had 2, male and female, both spoke excellent english, and had an amazing time preparing drinks and entertaining /engaging everyone in conversation. This was a fantastic random stop for us.

Right from the outside the place sticks out with its green light and skeleton welcoming you at the door. We wanted to try absinthe and the name of the place sounded perfect to satisfy this need. They have a large choice of different absinthe(and other drinks) with Czech, Swiss and French ones, you can get them with the fountain or shots. The barman is really pro and will give you advice and prepare it for you according to what you said. The atmosphere is very green to represent the green fairy(the allusion you are supposed to see after drinking too much absinthe) and music are nicely paired to give a sort of modern but legit feeling to the bar. With a large selection of absinthe, an attentive staff and a good decoration this bar is a must do when coming to Prague.

The best experience we had in Prague! The atmosphere in the place is so cool and the drinks were so good that we went there twice during our short stay. If you’re willing to try all kind of absinth shots and cocktails, this is the place to go.

From the moment you see this place from the outside, you know it is going to be good. Lots of green lights which I imagine is to symbolize the green fairy that you may see if you drink too much absinth. The music was modern roaring twenties ish the décor was spectacular, and there were plenty of places to sit downstairs or upstairs. Our server was not super friendly, but in Prague this seems to be the norm. I would suggest you don’t take it personally and chalk it up to a cultural way of getting to the point. We ordered a couple of absinthe drinks and both were spectacular. We enjoyed the music so much we asked the bartender what it was and he shared us the playlist on Spotify. The prices are super reasonable, I think our drinks were maybe seven u.s. dollars each, and I call them drinks but they were closer to works of art. If you are in Prague and you want to try absinthe or just go to a cool place to hang out at night, I suggest you give this place a try. We loved it and will probably go back the next time we are in Prague.

Daumen hoch!

We came so the guys could try Absinthe and we all ended up trying it. They had a huge list of Absinthe but we wanted to try a Czech brand. He explained the difference between macerated and distilled. He said the macerated would be less harsh so we went with that. I thought that it was just going to be a small drink in a little glass and we would be done, but it was a show! He started with sugar cubes on the top of metal containers, one for each drink, then lit them on fire. He then lit the alcohol on fire and poured fire into the glasses. I videoed it but even the smaller ones were too big to post here. The place is beautiful especially the mural in the front room with a green Absinthe fairy and Vincent Van Gogh giving her his ear as he sits at the bar and drinks Absinthe. I love his work and it was in that style. Very pretty. I didn’t feel any effects from the Absinthe. Maybe you have to drink a lot? I was a little worried about its reputation, but all for naught. I am glad we did it.

Ambiance: a dark place that looks like was decorated by someone drinking absinthe lol Service: when we were there it was one bartender and one waitress who took and served orders for the first and second floor… The waitress was a little impatient with us, but it might be due to the slight language barrier… Nonetheless we got or orders in and our drinks came relatively quickly. She did also recommend drinks when we asked what was good. Drinks: I’ve come to realize absinthe is not my drink of choice, but because we were there to try absinthe we decided to order a variety of absinthe shots, ordered the absinthe beer and cocktails. There is one absinthe shot in particular that you should get… It’s the one with the beetle in the bottle yes. You might also be lucky and land a beetle leg in your glass. The mule cocktail was one of the better cocktails imo. All in all worth a visit to check it out!

A touch touristy but very good cocktails. Best I’ve had in Prague. These are people that drink beer but they get cocktails right and with a good theme. Much attention to detail. Best to ask bartenders for off-menu favorites of theirs too — always a good sign. Hemingway listened to jazz — they missed that point and sometimes they appeal too much to the tourist(eg the camera lens glasses). Would absolutely recommend. Check it out

Trying real, traditional absinthe has been on our bucket list for a while, so when we stumbled onto this cozy little green-glowing bar, we knew it was meant to be. And our first experience was wonderful thanks our very knowledgeable host & bartender. He took the time to explain the various types of absinthe & the methods of preparing it. Though the«fire» method sounded interesting, we wanted(& he recommended) the traditional ice water dripped over sugar cube method. It was licoricely delicious & we had a nice glow on for our walk around Prague that evening.

Loved our experience here. We stopped by during happy hour in December, and after a few minutes, were the only people there. The waitress was very nice and useful and helped us through our first absinthe experience. Some people may say it’s a touristy spot but whatever, it’s good!

As a fan of the Green Fairy, it was impossible to walk past this bar without getting a drink(actually, that’s not entirely true, we saw it in the morning & made careful note of which of the many winding streets it was on then took hours to find it again later.) They have a good selection of absinthe and of mixed drinks. As someone with a great thirst for… er… knowledge, there was no choice but to sample most of the absinthe based cocktails. The dry ice in the water fountain was a nice touch. Staff were friendly and fluent in English & we left very«enlightened». Only down side was that smoking is still allowed in many Czech establishments and the one person smoking had the place reeking.

Amazing Absinthe bar right next to the hotel I was staying at. They have absinthe everything… suckers, candy, drinks. You can buy a shot for as little as $ 3 and upwards of $ 50 depending on the quality you want to try. The music inside was very nice and the bartender spoke english and hooked me and my friend up! Definitely try this out!

Dark little spot tucked away on a pedestrian block not far from the Astronomical Clock. Never having had absinthe and it being very close to the apartment I was renting, I went in completely clueless. The bartender/waiter came over and I explained I was an absinthe newbie and asked what he recommended — they have well over 50 different bottles from different countries. He asked if I wanted to try a Czech brand and he suggested one which was macerated(King of Spirits). From the little reading I had done, I had read macerated is more like moonshine and distilled would be a better drink(not sure how true this is, but I went with it), so I asked for a distilled kind instead. He sort of rolled his eyes and suggested one which I went with(St. Antoine). I didn’t get a very friendly feeling from him which I was bummed about, since it seemed people had great experiences here and I was hoping to have the same. After a little bit, he came over with all the required equipment — water dispenser, spoon, sugar cube and explained how it worked. Off he went. Pretty much never to return again for a long time until I had to flag him for the check. 5* for the environment/drinks 2* for service.

A unique and very fun bar with two locations close to the old town square. Absinthe is a very high alcohol drink(at around 70%) which was banned in the early 20th century after too much consumption by the populous. It has a licorice sort of taste. Well, it is not banned anymore but unavailable in many places around the world. Our first visit to an absinthe bar was in Brussels two years ago. That place was out of control and probably a safety hazard as the sugar(which goes into your absinthe drink) was lit up right in front of our eyes. Absintherie is safer, there are no pyrotechnics at the table because the sugar is lit at the bar. There are around 50 Absinthes on the menu, average price just below $ 10. Very enjoyable and remember to sip + then drink water. At our second visit we had the most expensive absinthe on the menu. Very good and lucky we shared because I would be quite tipsy if I had one all to myself. Many of the great writers and thinkers from a century ago drank absinthe so give it a go!

You get what you ask for: Absinth! Nice staff, knowledgeable and friendly. Great selection of Absinth drinks, even Absinth Ice Cream. Did not experience the green ferry tho… Place is great, even it’s in the middle of the tourist areas.

The service here was great. The server took the time to explain everything and really let us know about the products. I settled for the King of Spirits in the traditional Czech way. She warned me not to just shoot it as it was strong. After showing me the process of melting the sugar I took a sip of it and man was it bad. It was worse than Chinese liquor. After a minute of trying to recover from the taste I just shot it whole even though I was warned not to do it. Next I ordered it the French way with the water and the dried ice. It created a cool effect with the dripper. The absinthe was much smoother this way and I was able to actually sip this one though it still didn’t taste very good. The price was close to $ 8 for each drink but was a good price for the experience and service. Though I found out I don’t like absinthe, it was a cool novelty experience that was well worth it.

Great Place! Got to experience the true way of consuming absinthe. What better place to go for that than here?! We ordered 2 King of Spirits and 2 Absinth Beetle. Pretty rough! They gave us a bottle of water and a basket of veggie chips, both were very helpful in drinking the harsh alcohol. Check out the menu photo for other drinks offered here if you’re not up for the real thing.
