As someone who is from America but lived in the Czech Republic for 2 years I know what good attempts are at American food. Some hit the nail on the head and some places quite honestly suck. The tavern is really really good. I would feel confident putting it up there with some of the better burgers I have ever had. The place is somewhat of a hipster joint but they sure can cook. Feel free to speak either Czech or English. There are always people who speak both. I love their BBQ sauce and have liked anything they cook. Try their breakfast items on weekends!!!

Great burgers in Prague. Good meat. Good bread. Great bacon. Ask no ketchup. Awesome fries! Good service. Book ahead if you can. Good ambient. Just a little bit off the metro station.

Nice burger place. They have vegetarian options and decent prices. Be advised: cheesy burgers are REALLY oily. Remember to bring cash, since they don’t accept credit card payments.

This place rocks, hands down one of the best burgers I’ve had in Europe. Even better than that though was the fries, first thing is that one order is enough for two but it comes with a mixture of regular, waffle, and curly. Also it was fairly cheap and the service was really good. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone craving a good burger.

Best burgers in town! Excellent service and very friendly. You must try the loaded pulled pork cheddar fries, you won’t be disappointed.

Easily one of the best burgers in town, and many people feel they are responsible for the burger explosion that has hit Prague in the past couple of years. And the pulled pork is nothing to sneeze at either. Yes, it is quite small and cramped and you might have to wait a while if you want to sit down. But if the weather is nice, grab it to go and hit the park next door. The service is usually great(with a couple of dud servers) and the food is so good, you will order more, even though you cannot possibly eat another bite.

Best burger and best(strictly) American food that we had in Prague by far. All of the servers looked like stereotypical surfers from California. Service was quick, portions were filling, and the food was everything it claimed to be. The Tower of Power. I’m upset that I didn’t find this place until my last day in Prague. The amount of food was so overwhelming that we actually had to scrap our plans for the afternoon.

Not bad. Never been to a Burger Bar before where you are not asked how you want the Burger cooked. Mine arrived quite rare which was okay, but not what I wound normally want.

The burger’s here are insane. Up there with the best I’ve ever had. The fries are delicious as well and the meal can be washed down with a selection of nice beers from a few microbreweries around the countries. The waitstaff are relaxed and friendly and overall the vibe and atmosphere is great. Make a reservation if you want to eat before 8pm.

Had the chicken burger with fries and a beer! Absolutely delicious! Servers were nice and friendly, spoke English. The place has a Czech/intimate feel, plays music. Great place for a date or if you’re alone you can sit at the bar and eat.

Very good burgers! Recommend to reserve a table as it’s always busy. Beer is cheap and good, staff is cool and friendly and as mentioned before: great burgers. Definitely in my Top Ten.

We come to tavern every couple of months and it has never let us down. The Swiss burger is good but the classic bacon cheese is the shining star here. My only recommendation is to get it dry and add mayo, ketchup, mustard to you own liking. It is just a bit too much for me when they put it on. The tav fries and tav sauce are great. Others may not like tav sauce but that’s why you can always use old faithful, ketchup. We plan to try their brunch in a few weeks and I’ll give a new review of the biscuits and gravy once we try it. Overall, we come back to tavern because they’ve got solid, tasty, real burgers. If you crave a burger while in Prague and want to escape all the tourist traps then come here. The service is also great. Only downfall… Cash only.

I’m currently in a food coma from the delicious burgers at The Tavern. It deserves all the rave reviews, I just had the basic burger(Lokal I think it was called), which was excellent. Or at least I think it was, I pretty much inhaled it. Good buns, not sweet like a lot of European breads can be, perfectly cooked meat, lovely sauce. Quick service and very busy — make sure to book(I think the insist on bookings Thurs, Fri and Saturday nights anyway). Every table in the place had at least 3 reservation slips on them and we were there at 5.30!

Tavern Tavern Tavern. If you hadn’t treated me badly, I could give you the 4 stars you deserved for your food. But frankly, my server was lazy, unfriendly and thanks to her my food was cold, cheese barely there on my «cheese fries.» Our drinks took 15 minutes to come, and all I got was a sprite… Our food took about 40 minutes, which was strange because a table near us that had come way after us and ordered also after us got their food way before us… not sure what is going on at this place but for 4.5 stars they did not live up to the hype. I got the pulled pork which was good, their BBQ sauce is homemade and on the sweet side, so if you don’t like sweet BBQ sauce I wouldn’t go for it. Otherwise I must say they did not make me want to come back at all. The highlight of my trip here was when leaving a server we didn’t even have struck up a conversation with us and at least left a nice leaving impression, sadly not enough to undo what his colleagues had already done.

I’ve been craving In-N-Out ever since I arrive in Europe, but haven’t brought myself to try any burgers here because I didn’t want to believe they could live up(and really wanted to try the cuisine of each country I was in). However, a friend of my brothers who lives in Prague told us that The Tavern had some of the best burgers in the world. Naturally, we made the trek out to find it! It’s about a ten minute walk from the metro stop. We got there at about 8 p.m. and it was packed, as it’s a pretty small place. Maybe around 20 small tables total, inside and on the patio. We were lucky though because a couple left about 5 minutes after we got there. The menu is half in Czech and half in English so there’s really no confusion at all. I got the classic bacon burger, with a side of their«tav» sauce. I had no idea what the sauce was but felt I might as well try it! My burger came about ten minutes after ordering. It was a pretty large burger, with the insides falling out everywhere. The bun surprisingly didn’t fall apart too badly though which was great, considering so many places in America have buns that crumble up or get soggy nearly immediately. The burger itself was definitely not the best in the world, but it hit the spot and was for sure a good classic bacon burger. The sauce was simply ketchup and mustard, but it was a little overpowering on the mustard side. I ordered a side of fries as well and dipped those into the Tav sauce. I wasn’t a fan of the sauce, tasted like mayo and BBQ sauce(a bit too sweet) but my brother seemed content with it. The fries themselves were classic skinny fries, with a few random cross cuts thrown in there. Accident? Who knows! All I can say is they were a bit disappointing, a little too hard for our taste. We ended up not being able to finish both the burgers and fries, it was definitely a filling burger! Overall, if you’re craving a burger, hit up this joint and see for yourself what it has to offer. I can assure you it will satisfy your burger cravings! :)

The Blue Smoke Burger was excellent, as was the pulled pork. Fries not exceptional, but fresh, get the house fry sauce.

If a burger at the Tavern is the best burger you have had in your life, then I feel bad for you. Ideally, the meat of the best burger in the world should speak for itself. My lokal burger spoke to me. It was tender and nice, but it lacked the juiciness and the oomph of amaze-balls burger. The fries that accompanied my burger were crunchy but it did not crisp as if it came fresh out of the frier. There was a slight staleness to it. Service bumps the 3.5 stars to 4. Perhaps this is the best burger in Prague; I hope not.

A small establishment on the corner of Riegrovy Sady houses probably some of Prague’s best burgers. It’s usually pretty crowded so you should either book ahead, or go on a sunny day and order ‘sebou’ so you can go sit in the park and enjoy the beautiful view of the city. If you’re lucky, someone might be smoking some ‘special cigarettes’ in the park and give you an extra reason to enjoy your burger. Swiss cheese and mushroom burger is great, and the pulled pork sandwich is good. Not the best pulled pork I’ve had, but since it’s not so common in these parts, I’m not going to complain.

After the horror show that was Peter’s Burgers, I needed a decent experience with a burger place to cleanse my pallet and since Stepan spent literally HOURS the previous night raving about this place, I figured I would give it a shot. Still filled with the typical hippster waitstaff, the vibe upon entering was totally different. They were ridiculously helpful, understood my broken Czech, and got the order perfect. Now on to the burgers. Seriously some of the best burgers I have ever had, not just in Prague, but like EVER. I had the chicken bbq burger. Somehow they managed to cook the chicken breast so it was perfectly done. It was amazing, messy, and flat out heavenly. Then, they had ranch dressing. RANCHDRESSSSSSING!!! Ok, now that I got that out of my system. I will definitely be heading back.

This place is the closest taste to American burgers you will get in Prague. Tavern is pretty small so to make sure to make a reservation beforehand. We forgot to make a reservation and ended up with getting pretty crappy seats. I got the Classic Bacon– Cheddar Burger, Oh god! it was delicious. I could literally taste all the ingredients. The bacon seem to be a little over cooked, It tasted pretty hard on the burger. As bacon on burgers need to be a little settled. But can’t complain, who doesn’t like bacon? I also ordered shared fries with their special sauce. It’s a mix between mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. I’m not a big fan of BBQ sauce so for me it was just«eh». All the burgers are cooked medium rare. If you’d like your burger well-done, make sure to tell your waiter.

Great burgers! Try the Blue Smoke burger, the pulled pork sandwich or the Lokal burger, all great choices. The side of fries is big enough for two. Loud atmosphere, good place to start a night out.
