Amazing, the menu is pretty good, we were served by a polite man in a traditional suit giving us tips and frictions for places we should visit in Prague, as it was our first day. The food was just as good!

I wasn’t very impressed. I thought it’s pricey. A tiny Pepsi is about $ 3 and my goulash is about $ 15. The service was slow. The food was so so. I wouldn’t come back.

The skewer was the best meal I had in Prague. Friendly waiter(rare in that city — many were rude to us elsewhere). Homemade lemonade was ice cold and not too sweet. I saw iced coffee on the menu and made the great mistake of ordering it. Their version of iced coffee is called a frappé, not to be confused with frappuccino: it’s like a coffee milkshake with different layers of coffee intensity. So good! Only complaint, as with practically every Czech restaurant, is the lack of separation between smoking and non-smoking sections. What a downer.

Good food, good service. Prices are the only complaint. Maybe a little high, but since it’s located in Wenceslas Square that may even out. Our favorites here were the Czech plate and the bacon dumplings! Also, they have ice!!! You know us Americans almost can’t drink anything without ice… thankfully this was available to quell our angry thirst monster(Mike S) ;-)

This place was so good that we came back 4 times in 3 days. Yes yes, well, the jazz band, playing from 7 – 10 weekdays, was so good. The cocktails(I had an orgasm) were good too. The food was fresh and the menu in all languages and staff speaks a bunch of languages too. In fact it was an interesting place. Stop by the restroom while you’re there and place a pin near the city you’re from! Bonus, they have a handsome young Wenceslas dressed in medieval costume. A fun time was had by all!

My wife and I first dined in this restaurant August 1, 2014. I am gluten and lactose free and seek understanding restaurants willing to comply. The staff of this restaurant, notably the«atmosphere manager» Jan Velek, did understand and made special efforts to assist in my menu choices. I had one of the local specialties, roast duck breast. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection, although the meat was chewy. It was served over a delicious blend of sauteed veggies. My wife had a plain sauteed chicken breast with an ala carte order of potatoes and onions. She enjoyed both. We shared a large bottle of mineral water with gas. We enjoyed the food so much, and happened to be nearby on August 2nd, that we ate there again. This time I had the herb encrusted trout and my wife had the chicken schnitzel. We shared an ala carte order of the sauteed veggies that I had so appreciated the previous day. The schnitzel and trout were excellent, but the veggies were soaked in oil. A different chef made them the 2nd day. My wife and I also shared a pitcher of fresh lemonade. Very refreshing and not sickeningly sweet. Not cheap at about $ 7.50 usd, but beverages are usually expensive in better restaurants. Service was excellent. Attentive but not intrusive. With tips, our first meal cost around $ 40 usd and the second meal around $ 50 usd. This is probably average for meals without wine or expensive drinks in better restaurants in Prague. If you are cruising this main tourist area, sit, rest and enjoy a great meal. They also own an Italian restaurant next door. Near the Muzeum stop on the red subway line; uphill from the Mustek stop on the green line.

Had the chicken here as I sat outside for lunch. The chicken came out a little dry, but I guess that is why they give you the broth? I dunno, it was a good lunch with nice outside seating.

Truth be told, we were a little on the fragile side when we stumbled into the Svateho Vaclava on Thursday morning, having experienced a little too much of the czech culture the night before, but we’d walked around for about an hour already because it was a public holiday(Independence Day) and everywhere non-touristy was closed. Anyway, despite having to wave away two baskets of bread(I’ve learned about the cover charge now, thanks), we found we had a friendly and chatty waiter who told us all about 28th October and its significance and brought us delicious bacon and eggs and potatoes. A plate of bacon and eggs with grated carrot, salad garnish and a massive pickled chilli pepper — utterly, utterly bizarre, but absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. As you’d expect in Wenceslas Square, it wasn’t cheap(about 600CK including service), but given that we didn’t have much choice, it was just about spot on.
