This was the first place we ate on our visit to Istanbul at it almost spoiled everything else as it was delicious. The place has a excellent décor inside with a hipster theme to cater to the audience that lives in the area. The drinks were delicious and like many of the places around them they have a nice little area for outdoor seating.

Great food and ambience. Also nice space to work from/read. They have big tables and good music. Try the fresh juices and gluten free options there.

Journey is worth the journey to Cighangir. Located next to the Geyik cocktail bar, Journey has an amazing menu with healty and satisfying foods. You don’t have to be a health freak however to enjoy their fresh juices or electic menu. Journey has a great décor, comfortable and refined. Wether you are going to read a book or enjoy a whole meal, this is an easy 5 star review. Journey is certainly a place I will continue to go back to, over and over again!

I’m so glad I stumbled upon Journey(and Cihangir in general) while aimlessly wandering down the hill searching for someplace I don’t even remember. Having no phone service and walking under the brutal July sun made it all the more urgent to find somewhere comfortable and air conditioned to sit. The menu definitely resembles an American brunch place’s, just with some Turkish twists. The juices are freshly squeezed, the wifi works fast, and the place is spacious with comfy seats and additional seating upstairs, complete with bookshelves and couches. I had the avocado toastie and Turkish coffee. They were good, nothing super imaginative or mind-blowing but more than sufficient for a leisurely stopover on a stroll down to the bridge. There were expats chatting at the table over, and tons of other cafes located right next door and around the block as well(my friend told me Cihangir is like SOHO in NYC). Stop by the lookout point as you turn the corner to check out the view of the harbor; it’s easy to miss but definitely worth taking a look.

This place hands down has the best service in Cihangir. I stayed in this area with my family for two weeks and tried every little café and restaurant in this area and I can say with confidence that Journey has the best food and service in the area with professional and friendly staff who are also proficient in English. Thai place is a must!

Love this place! This is my go to spot for a nice meal that’s not too heavy. I usually start with one of their Mediterranean platters. It is nice to share and it is satisfying but not too filling. Their fresh sour dough bread matches perfectly with this gorgeous spread. I have tried two of their main courses and although they were on the healthy side, they were not my absolute favorite which is why I have to give it 4 stars. Their drinks makes up for the rest of it. Whether you get a fresh juice drink or a cocktail, you won’t be disappointed!

The kind of places you could find in Brooklyn or in any hipsters’ area. It’s the winning combination: cosy place + nice design + comfortable sofas and armchairs + good alternative music(Lali Puna & Mum from what I remember). The dark chocolate and walnut cake was delicious and the latte was good. Exactly the kind of places you want to take a rest at after a long walk in the cold and need WiFi. Also nice to meet the Turkish hipsters!

Kind of bland. The spinach salad… No kidding about the mayo dressing. A lot o mayo flavor! Wanted just carrot juice… They said no. Offered carrot/apple… I accepted. I watched them make it with ¼ carrot & tons of green sour apples. Got an iced coffee… Was hot coffee poured over ice apparently. Reeeeally weak in flavor/color/strength. The place was busy, gets good reviews, but I’m not seeing it. Waited over 20 minutes for the mentioned drinks & food was another 20. Incredibly overpriced we thought. Got a vegi pasta dish that was pretty tasty… Still wouldnt return. Not because it was horrible, but because there were other, better options…

this place was great and probably my best meal in istanbul. the food is actually pretty western and was just fresh and healthy. my husband and i each got a platter which had breads/flatbreads, spreads, cheeses, veggies, etc. we also shared a side of the cooked greens, which had broccoli, brussels sprouts, squash, celery, spinach. it was kinda bland(i noticed that a lot of turkish food is not particularly seasoned/spiced), but it was nothing that some chili flakes couldn’t solve. we stayed here for several hours just people watching, reading magazines, etc. it’s a great and comfy place to while away the afternoon.
