This location is CLOSED, which is upsetting because the food was decent for the price.

This 1 star review isn’t really about the food. We ordered once, and the food was good(portions aren’t that big, but the food is good.) However, the service is BAD! I placed an order via their website(this was the second time we’d get food there). The order went through(after I spent 15 minutes placing a group order). When I called(not them calling me, I called them), they said«sorry, we can’t make your order; it’s too complicated and we’re too busy.» Really?! Too«busy» to make the order I already spent 15 minutes placing. Never ordering(or dining in person) there again.

My expierence here was interisting. Our order was messed up. The cashier was willing to take it back the cooks didn’t want too. They mean mugged us the whole time while we were waiting on the food. On. Top of that the soda machine was disgusting! !! It wasn’t draining the liquid so an employee was doing it. It was clearly broken. It didn’t carbonate any of the sodas which sucks because that’s what i wanted. I didnt want iced tea(which is what i settled for). They get three stars for the girls who was cleaning the machine. She was nice about it, and gave me apple sauce when night asked for some for my son. I probably will not visit this place again. For 20 bucks on gyros, it’s not worth it

This review is on the service alone, since we didn’t get a chance to eat there. My Husband and I got there around 8pm on a Monday night, and we notice a note on the door that said«take out orders only». Okay no big deal we’ll eat at home and order take out. From the moment we walked it was obvious that the employees working there did not want to take our order. First the cashier looked at another employee and asked if she can take our order. Then she rudely told us it was take out only. I said, yes we know we saw the sign. We start to order and the other employees inform us that they are out of beef. Ok, so we’ll get chicken no biggie. As we are looking at the menu I ask what some item are since I’m not too familiar with Greek food. The cashier just kept referring to the menu because she herself did not know what the items were. That’s when my husband and I decided to leave and go somewhere else. I don’t know what the deal was with the three females working that night, the restaurant hours are until 9pm, but they were ready to close at 8pm. I wish I could say that the rude behavior was because of a language barrier(that I can tolerate), but they spoke and understood English with no trouble at all. Based on this experience I don’t know if I’ll give this location another chance. I know it’s fast food and all, but that doesn’t mean that I should be given attitude.

Loved it. Best I’ve had on Alameda so far. I order a lot of Mediterranean food. Generally judge a place by the Chicken Shawarma wraps/plates, hummus and falafel. Wrap was outstanding, falafel great, hummus was ok, could do with touch more flavor, pita was perfect, overall they’ve been great. Now ordered multiple times and consistently good. Also the Mediterranean Cobb Salad was dynamite.

What I ate: Cali-Greek bowl with gyro Visit date: July 12, 2015 First time? To this location, yes. It has been a very long time since I’ve eaten at a Daphne’s(at least seven years!) but my fiancé had never had it before so I figured now was a good time to eat there again. Their menu has expanded greatly, but their gyro is the same — I have fond memories of the gyro. Today I had the Cali-Greek bowl which sounded a little strange but was actually very good. Instead of hummus you get avocado. You still get the tender gyro, fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki like in their classic Greek salad. This is a large location, good for groups. Portion size is reasonable and service is quick.

As others have said, food is ok, I’ve had better at similar places that did pizza/greek food. First time, ordered steak and gyro combo plate… received steak and chicken kebab plate with rice and salad. Dug in and didn’t notice at first that my order was incorrect. About halfway through, I realized I didn’t get what I ordered and began discussing it with my wife. When someone came by to ask if everything was ok we mentioned the order was wrong. and the guy who took our order acknowledged it… and moments later came by with a plate of gyro meat which was much tastier than either the steak or chicken. I was impressed with their desire to make a wrong situation right, with minimal complaints on our part. Great customer service. I would’ve given 3 stars for food/service but that definitely earns another star. They also didn’t make a fuss when we brought in an outside order of fries for my 3 year old son. Wouldn’t hesitate to go back.

For a quick healthy meal this place was good. I had grilled shrimp and steak skewers with salad vegetables and rice. The combo plate was tasty, flavorful and fresh. Although it wasn’t a huge plate it was enough to feel satisfied.

Food is ok. Made with love, not really, just made. Yes, it’s a chain, but I still think there’s room to stand out regardless. Of course, even if you can’t do anything about the food, a little more professionalism and regard for the customer would be the easiest place to make improvements. No customer likes to feel like they’re just in the way when staff are gabbing more with each other(including yelling across the dining room to the prep kitchen), bickering about filling orders properly or taking an order over the phone and speaking to the person on the other line as if they’re high school buddies(arguing about what the online menu says and getting fussy about it… no matter who that is on the phone, it’s no good for me the customer to have to stand there and listen to such an unprofessional exchange of dialog). I guess that’s what minimum wage and poor employee training gets you, so what should I really expect? Better. Just better in places where it can be and should be. Make me feel comfortable and happy that I chose to have my meal prepared by you. Don’t make me feel like I’ve stumbled into a clubhouse and I’m the outsider. That’s not too much to ask. Is it?

The hours listed here are apparently wrong. I called for pick-up after 9 p.m. Friday( Unilocal and Google list closing at 10 p.m.) and they said they were closed. The Unilocal page doesn’t let me suggest the change.

I like the idea of a «fast» but somewhat healthy Greek food option. Dining there was clean and pleasant, good for families with kids. The California/Greek combo is nice, enjoyed the food and simple and easy experience.

The food was good. I’ve had Daphne’s many years ago in Southern California. Since then, they’ve changed their logo, menu, and décor. I can tell they’re trying to make the chain appear more upscale. However, the prices have remained within reasonable levels. It was expensive before, and rather than lowering their prices I guess they’ve decided to improve overall quality of their restaurants. I’m ambivalent over whether this is a good strategy. I got a mix and match plate. The restaurant appears to be very busy which is a good sign that at least the food was attracting people. Unfortunately, they need to work on staffing their restaurants. When I went, there was only one staff at the cash register. The unlucky person was also the sole waitress for the entire restaurant. There were two cooks in the open kitchen and it looks like they were having a hard time keeping up with the orders. The place was full and everyone appear to have been waiting a long time for their food. I ordered my meal to go and received it relatively quickly. When I got home, I realized that she forgot to give me pita bread. Needless to say, despite the quality of the food I did receive, the lack of peta bread left me unsatisfied. Without peta, I might as well been eating mexican food. It’s the one reason I wanted to eat greek food. Anyways, I would give them another chance the next time I’m in the area. +1 Star: Meats, rice, and vegetables were fresh and tasty. +1 Star: The three employees tried their best and kept their composure despite the frustrating work experience they must be having. I would give them a big kudos. Unfortunately, management is no where to be found. I think they should be punished.

I got the mix and match gyro and steak it was delicious. This is kind of a fast food joint. You order at the counter and take a number or something. Food was made pretty fast. Employees were nice. Good food but nothing special.

I thought I’d give Daphnes another go around. Maybe a different county than I’m used to can do it better but the food was all disgusting. Everything tasted like it came out of a BAG. Like the melted cheese at a 7⁄11? That’s the quality of the food at Daphnes. It’s crap. Might as well eat Mcdonalds. Same crap food but with better flavor at Mc D’s. The most disturbing part was the hummus. A nice yellow paste. of. just beans maybe? Was there no garlic that day? No peppers? Do they know there is more than one freaking ingredient in hummus? And the tzatziki sauce? I’m sorry. really? The people who decide what goes into the food here need a serious reality check because the quality of food here is pathetic. Like mashed potatoes with no milk or butter? This food is for people who don’t have tastebuds. End of story. On the other hand. the service was very nice and the restaurant was clean. Good job.

Dang, what is wrong with people? Maybe it was just my family’s food. But everything was fantastic! Great service too. Portions were MORE than plenty :) for a counter service Greek place, I definitely recommend it. The kids eat free on Sunday is a killer promotion. I’ll always come back

Was looking for a fast lunch option while in South Shore. The chipotle line was out the door and bf wasn’t in the mood for Panera, so we decided to give this a try. I ordered the falafel wrap and he ordered the gyro wrap meal(comes with fries and a coke for $ 2). Meh. The falafel’s had an «interesting» texture and taste, unlike any I’ve ever had. Not necessarily in a good way. It was edible, but I wouldn’t want to eat it again. Bf wasn’t crazy about his wrap either. It was only room temperature. Portions are small. I’d say skip and go to the places next to here.

I’m giving them a 2 only because the front end service was friendly. Obviously portion size, presentation and freshness isn’t a big deal for them. I got the mixed plate with rice pilaf and grilled veggies. The grilled veggies were horrible! They seemed like they were straight out of a frozen bag of carrots and string beans. I got like two tiny slivers bell peppers in it. It also was a really small portion. The rice pilaf was good but definitely not fresh in flavor. My ‘gyro meat’ was heartbreakingly dry. I think they must’ve shaved it hours before and just had it sitting around. The chicken kabob also seemed like it was sitting around for a while. It was also annoy that I waited about 15 minutes to get this food that wasn’t even fresh when I was the only one in line. I will not return!

Picture this. Alameda. 2014. A young woman is hungry and looking for something light and fresh to tide her over until she meets up with her boo later in the afternoon. She decides that a falafel wrap would be perfect. A falafel should be crispy on the outside and warm and flavorful on the inside. She decided to stop at Daphne’s. She was wrong. The two stars are for the service. The lady at the counter was very nice and polite — and quick. The falafel wrap was horrible… HORRIBLE. Not only were the falafels squishy and super dense, but nothing about this wrap screamed fresh or light. I cannot over emphasize how much I disliked this wrap, and I love Greek food. I’ve even eaten at Daphne’s in Los Angeles and enjoyed it. I will never eat there again.

Yum Yum! Every time I’m at the South Shore Center, I always pass by this place, but it never crossed my mind to give it a try, but I’m glad that I finally did! I’ve never really tried Greek cuisine before and after having Daphne’s, it’s safe to say that I’m hooked. I ordered the grilled chicken pita sandwich. As I was eating the sandwich, I was totally amazed by how they can make such basic and simple ingredients can taste so delicious. And that tzatziki, wow, it was thick and had a cool crisp to it. This sauce complimented the pita sandwich very well; it made for such an interesting dining experience. I like food experiences like this where I have to sit and think for a moment, contemplating the flavors that are dancing on my taste buds. In all, this experience was a pleasant surprise and I’d definitely come back again for round 2.

I wasn’t overwhelmed by the food at Daphnes but I did leave with a slight case of frostbite. Man it was chilly in there! The service is very attentive, a little too much for my comfort, but it’s better than being ignored. The food is simply but fresh which is always a plus. The restaurant was sparkling clean and full of patrons. Yep that about sums it up. I guess I’d rather have real Greek at my friend Erin S’s house.
