Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries

This was my first time going to Boardwalk (although I think maybe they have a stand at the Nationals Ballpark?). Came in around 12:30 and it wasn’t super crowded. There was lots of seating available to sit and wait for your order or if you’re going to eat there. There’s a good selection of options — burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, salads, milkshakes, etc. I got the chicken tender sandwich and split fries and a chocolate PB milkshake with my husband. The food was ready fairly quickly and came out hot. The fries were awesome but the chicken sandwich was just ok. The tenders were a bit dried out (cooked too long I think) and the bread got soggy quickly. The Shake was good. The burgers looked really good so maybe would try those next time.

Solid burgers, fries that you can tell aren’t frozen and fresh cut, and shakes. Food comes out dash and service is good. Only wish is that they would clean up the counters a bit more. But it’s clear its from heavy traffic. Definitely a good place to check out.

Nothing special. The fries are fresh and hot. The staff is very friendly (the woman with the blonde hair was great!).
The food is okay but the entire restaurant needs a deep cleaning. When we first entered the odor of mildew almost made me walk right out. However, with two kids who are eager to eat, I sucked it up and went in. The restaurant has a layer of grease on pretty much everything. The floor was slippery and you could see everyone’s footprints in the layer of grease/​slime on it. The same with the tables/​chairs.

My grandson and I went for lunch. He had a hamburger which he said was okay. I had the garden burger which was delicious. It had this really nice chipotle sauce — yum! I will definitely go again!

I love the burgers here. It is the closest I have come to an In and Out Burger on the East Coast.

Maybe it’s just because of fond childhood memories of eating at Boardwalk, but after getting some chicken at a Nats game, I had a strong craving for Boardwalk fries. I’ve never loved fries, but I always remembered Boardwalk’s as being good. Unlike at the Nats stadium, the fries at the Alexandria location were actually warm (as expected), and the chicken was even better. I’ve gotten the garlic parmesan fries and my boyfriend has gotten the chili fries. The garlic parmesan fries were covered in gummy cheese and were very soggy, but my boyfriend liked the chili fries; I prefer the original fries for sure. The funnel cake fries were okay. Mainly, I go here for the chicken tenders, but it says a lot about the quality that I’ll go out of my way to eat them.

Not bad, but not great. Definitely not worth the price they charge. $ 30+ for two people is definitely on the high side. Two burgers, two fries, two drinks, and a milkshake.
For $ 5 we thought the milkshake would be shareable. Not even, it was a fast food small. It wasn’t mixed well either so while thick, it was tough to drag through a straw and then we found ourselves scooping the rest from the bottom.
The fries are terrific and save this from a lower rating. No shortage of options from salt, to vinegar, even old bay of course. The burgers are fine with options but the buns are dry and just bad. Maybe once in a blue moon but I can’t say this place is worth frequenting.

This is my second or third choice in terms of burger joints. The burgers lack flavor if you compare to «the guys»
Had a bacon bleu and fries and a drink. Spent $ 12 and just didn’t find it all that good.
Location is sort of wonky. Staff is civil but not overly friendly. This is a classic DC area conundrum not limited to just this place. Everyone in DC is either too important to be patronizing a business or the workers feel as if they are above working in said business. I can’t say the service here is anything but expected.
Tables need wiped down here more often. I always see things in need of tidying.
Lastly– what is up with the clear bottle of white vinegar? You can’t provide classic malt style? Strange.

Boardwalk is pretty good and quick. Also the fries are good and be sure to check out their toppings.
They also have ample parking and seating.

Burgers were okay. Nothing special! Fries were pretty much the only thing I enjoyed. I don’t know if I’ll be returning.

Mushroom burger was very fresh but lacked any flavor… chicken tenders were the best restaurant brand I’ve ever had… especially with the ranch dipping sauce. I wanted to switch meals with my kid. I really wanted the garlic parmesean fries to be good… but they ended up soggy and not worth the calories. In summary, Chicken tenders good, burgers blah, fries naah.

So it’s been a long while since I’ve posted a review but my first visit to this place warranted one. I have 2 words… So gross. My boyfriend and I saw the reviews on here and that funnel cake fries were on the menu so why not right? Well I don’t know if Tuesday was an off day but the fries were overcooked to the point they were nearly burned. His steak & cheese, although pictured with provolone, came with cheese whiz and my burger well I’ve had better at like Wendy’s. Oh and the Funnel cake fries we were beyond excited about were all too crunchy with no bouts of soft chewy nostalgia we remember so fondly of funnel cakes. The powder sugar on top of this trip was when one of their employees changed into a chik fil a uniform… Maybe we should have went there instead

Won’t be going back. Cashier totally got the order wrong and forgot food. Then when we got home the burgers were still rare and bloody. Thank you teenage management.

My burger (Swiss and mushroom) had little flavor and the fries began tasting like cardboard as they cooled. Both my boyfriend and I ended up with stomach aches. There’s a reason they’re $ 5 burgers. Bottom line: not worth it.

I drove out here hoping to find a decent burger. In and Out are better or my highschool cafeteria option I had. This was so bad we could not finish the burgers. Overcooked, dried thin nasty patties, if they are even beef.

I went in for lunch and ordered the chicken tenders platter. My food was hot and good. I will return again to try of those juicy burgers!

I have to admit that I really didn’t know what to expect when I walked through Boardwalk’s doors. However, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the service and delicious burger fare. Now, let’s be clear here, Boardwalk’s burgers aren’t on the level of five guys, but it is certainly a better option than McDonald’s burger madness. The burgers are juicy and filling, but they are not cooked to order, so there will be no medium or medium rare here.
What Boardwalk does have going for it is a selection of sauces that sets the stage for the perfect personalized burger experience. I added the chili sauce to mine (not too spicy, just right) and even had enough for my fries. Boardwalk also has a pretty delicious shake. which was made with real ice cream.yum. The fries could have been a little crispier, but this burger stop was certainly better that any fast food joint around

The food was great, my daughter and I both enjoyed it.
I didn’t enjoy the man behind the counter ignoring us for his cell phone, and then when finally seeing us, not even hanging it up, just holding it down to his side.
Bad look.

BETTER THAN FIVE GUYS… Not as good as when Fuddruckers was around.
I like the fries the best. The burgers don’t taste like a pile of grease and I enjoy the toppings =)
The fries never taste soaked in grease lke they do @ Five Guys.
The experience is pretty similar (minus the peanuts and the potato sacks piled around you while you wait in line).
A bit more $$ than I expected, but. Hey, it’s better than five Guys and Fuddruckers isn’t aroudn anymore.
