Expensive and food is average. That’s about the norm for Northern Virginia, but this place is no exception. If paying $ 8.50 for a smallish, average tasting chicken wrap sounds good to you then definitely come here.

pssh… got the family meal(whole chicken, 4 sides, a salad) awesome, price was ok! like 30 bucks smelled wonderful on the car ride home. the chicken was dry and bland the veggies were not done. the mashed potatoes seemed pretty poor, and the skins were not done. the mac and cheese and spinach were ok won’t be back =(

I love chicken out. They have something for everyone… those seeking gluten free foods, heart healthy choices, and all the sides are handmade and not something out of a box. It’s always fresh! My favorite side are the sweet potatoes and the wraps are incredible… try the union gap wrap. Yum!

Chicken Out is a great spot if you live in the area. I wouldn’t say it’s a destination, but a very solid choice for passersby. In my opinion, it’s better(albiet a little more expensive) than Boston Market. I’m familiar with both, and you can taste that CO uses fresher ingredients and has better quality chicken(BM is much more fatty and less meat on the bone). All in all I’ve been here, I’ll come back, and probably give it more like 4.5 stars. I just save 5 for a really amazing place :) P. S. if you’re gluten free, CO is easily 5 stars. They clearly designate their wealth of options for those who can’t eat gluten — which are tasty!

We drop in every other week or so. Slightly better and slightly more expensive version of Boston Market. In general, it’s broader menu. Chicken, turkey, meatloaf, sandwiches, with a dozen hot sides and a dozen cold sides. I like that I can eat both healthy and unhealthy at this relatively fast food place. I can do some turkey/chicken with cucumber salad and steamed veggies or I can get the same with mashed potatoes and creamed spinach. Potpies are tasty. All in all, a good fast food place.

I had taste for some soup and stopped by chicken out… Service GREAT… GREATPARKING… not to mention nice &CLEAN :-) I ordered chicken noodles soup which would have been perfect but the noodles are wayyyy over cooked… soggy…:-/… Not totally disappointed so I will eat here again :-) I also ordered the Turkey meat loaf :-(no flavor… was dry… It came with 2 sides… My choices were mashed potatoes & creamed spinach… which both I was disappointed with… I will stick with the soup & salad choices… ;-)

I went to this place last summer and I wasn’t a fan of it. But, I decided to give it a second try and boy am I glad I did. I ordered the quarter dark chicken with mash potatoes and green beans and a slice of chocolate cake. Best fast food chicken I have ever ate. The manager was super nice and came around twice asking us how our food was. My bf had stuffing and mash potatoes and it was really good. The stuffing was yum!!! The place was really clean and bright. I would definitely recommend people to go here.

Re the food: It’s a Chicken Out. I’m pretty sure you’ve had it before. It’s the same here as any other location. This particular Chicken Out is very clean and full of nice people, but OMG, the service is so, so slow. On a Sunday afternoon at 5pm, with 3 people ahead of me in line, I had to wait in line for 25 minutes to buy a cup for a fountain drink. Part of the problem was Chicken Out’s confusing corporate menu stickers. They put a little heart by «heart healthy» food and then a little smiley face by «comfort food,» which begs the question of what the heck does that mean? Is that the opposite of healthy? The people ahead of me took FOREVER to discuss this and then started asking if everything that wasn’t marked with the additional«gluten free» sticker was in fact not gluten free(e.g. the steamed vegetables, which apparently did have gluten in them — what?). It was all just so confusing. And no one had made up their mind before getting in line. And the person behind the counter seemed baffled by all the buttons she had to push, and then the assembly line took forever tonging all their orders onto trays. It’s called separate lines for ordering and paying, Chicken Out! It’s the least you could do with such a complicated, sticker-happy menu. If I didn’t have a real problem with Diet Coke addiction, I would have been out the door. But I forgive. I’ll be back. I just love those mashed potatoes so much.

Sometimes I don’t feel like cooking during the week after a long day at work. Chicken out provides some decent chicken dishes that I don’t feel too guilty eating. They provide all types of sides… my favorite being the mashed sweet potatoes. Of course the food is not like home cooked food, but it is much better than some of the other fast food joints out there that will clog your arteries. If you adjust your expectations before going, you may actually like it.

These Chicken Out Rotisserie Chicken places look pretty nice and the food looks pretty good too, but when we bring the food home, it’s just alright. None of that WOW you are expecting when you first saw the food. The two groupons we used made it worth it, but not yet compelled to pay full price. In addition to the Groupons, we also bought two LivingSocial chicken platter deals. The grilled chicken strip platter was disappointing when compared to the picture, but that shouldn’t be a surprise. Food pictures are supposed to be deceptively appetizing. One things for sure, if I were to pay full price for what I got, I’d be very unhappy. But considering the deal I got, I was happy. On a side now I wish they would simplify their menu. It just looks way too complicated.

This is the second Chicken Out location I’ve been to. I went once to the one in Mclean and I’m so glad that I didn’t let that experience color my opinion. There was nothing wrong with the experience or service the first time, but the chicken was just very dry. Anyway, this location was great! Nice and clean with plenty of parking. The trip(I did take-out) was quick and easy and my server? was very helpful. The cabo chicken was excellent and suuuper juicy. I recommend asking the staff for the freshest chicken available. You won’t be disappointed!

The back story: I got 2 Groupons for Chicken Out, which gave me a combined 2 rotisserie chickens, 2 salads, 2 orders of bread, and 8 large sides, all for $ 28 total. Pretty good deal. The story: I decided to have my family over for an early Christmas dinner, and used these Groupons to provide the food. I stopped in a few days beforehand to check it out, and was told I could just swing by whenever I wanted to pick the food up. My family was slated to arrive around 2PM, so I hopped over to Chicken Out around 11:30 and placed my order. After waiting for about 10 – 15 minutes, they told me that they were out of the apple cornbread stuffing, but that I could wait another 15 minutes or get something else. I opted to wait. One of the ladies behind the counter started to pack up my bags and called me up. The stuffing wasn’t ready, so I sat back down. Once that was ready, the manager came over and apologized for the wait, packed everything up and sent me on my way. I got home around 1:30 and realized that they didn’t give me two of the things I ordered. Ugh. After calling and telling them what happened, I drove back to Chicken Out and picked up my missing items. The manager apologized again, and then did something that I think a lot of managers could learn from. He offered to throw in dessert for free, since their mistake caused me two trips. I was annoyed when I walked in because I was under the gun to get everything ready for my family, but I was pretty happy when I left due to the manager’s concern and willingness to make his customers happy. The food was pretty good. We had to reheat it all, of course, so it wasn’t all hot at the same time, but it was pretty good. The stuffing was tasty, and the 2 feasts fed 6 adults and 2 children with plenty to spare. I’ll probably have leftovers for about a week. So, even though Chicken Out’s execution isn’t always perfect, they are customer-friendly and want you to leave happy. Customer service goes a long way in my book.

The freshness of the food fluctuates dependent on the day. Lunch time and dinner time are the best times to go because all of the food is actually fresh. Other times during the day I have stopped in and definitely gotten food that has been sitting under the heat lamps way too long. The staff is friendly, but sometimes makes errors like forgetting to give your side dish or water. The food, when fresh, is delicious. I would definitely recommend the sweet potato wedges, roasted potato wedges, pulled chicken, veggie/chicken salad and the caramelized mushroom dish.

The menu, the food, the manager, most of the staff, the feel of the store, cleanliness, taste of the food all = great. Only complaints, parking = very bad and the food is a bit pricey for what it is.

This place saved our butts Sunday. Our neighborhood was pretty much the epicenter for the storms that came threw Alexandria last week, knocking out power to our neighborhood for 4 days. After coming home to power and having to empty an entire refrigerator, last thing we wanted to do was cook. Fortunately, I purchased their Groupon for the family meal deal, one whole chicken, 3 sides, 4 biscuits, and salad. I have no complaints about any of the food, I tend to enjoy their chickens, and stuffing is tasty, as well as the mashed potatoes, I do think they’re on the expensive side, and I find their menu confusing with all their items. But it’s a clean location, very nice staff, so it was easy to understand why the groupon was such a success. For the amount of food we got for $ 14, it was a very good value. So thank you Chicken Out for coming through and helping restock the fridge, leaving me with a few days of leftovers. I’ll be back again.

I’m such a fool for marketing. I was roped in as soon as I saw«Spa Menu.» I had visions of water with cucumber slices and a big gourmet yet über healthy salad. I was siked to see gluten free(GF) all over their menu. I smacked my lips. After lovingly admiring the menu, I placed my order at 11:30 for the GF cheeseburger(meaning instead of bread they use 2 leaves of romaine) with a side salad. Everything went to hell. I waited for 30 minutes for my takeout order. The restaurant was not remotely packed or even slightly full. Here’s the short list of errors: 1) My friend was overcharged. But she was reimbursed. 2) My cheeseburger was made on a regular wheat roll(not GF!!) –for some reason it took an additional 25 minutes to cook up another burger — why??? 3) My salad was full of croutons(not GF croutons) 4) My cheeseburger had no cheese or the mushrooms I ordered. Nor was I provided a side of mustard as requested. 5) Cross contamination — this is not a GF restaurant. I appreciate it when restaurants make an effort to be GF or wheat free. Luckily, I’m not highly allergic. I solely have a wheat allergy, and I can eat one or two bites of wheat before my system gets aggravated. Some folks get hella sick from one crumb of gluten! So you can’t tout yourself as gluten free with GF all over the menu when the staff is sorely undereducated in terms of what exactly constitutes GF. Croutons in a salad aren’t cool. Using the same cutting board where regular old bread gets sliced up for GF folks isn’t cool. All I’m saying is don’t tout yourself as GF… YOU’RELYING. But screwing up my burger twice is pretty unforgivable. I complained to the manager and said(politely) — It’s taken over 30 minutes for my takeout(mind you, I didn’t discover the cheese-less cheeseburger situation until I returned to work). The dude gave us our meal for free. I appreciate that. Round up my star rating to a 2.5. In a nutshell Chicken Out = Boston Market through beer goggles(she ain’t quite as pretty when you take a closer look).

I seriously don’t understand the obsession with Chicken Out. The ingredients may be better, but the taste, price and time-to-get-served is way better with Boston Market. The pot pie was like a brick –in my mouth and in my stomach. This is the second chance I’ve given Chicken Out. I’m ‘chickening out’ from future visits. I’m writing horrible puns, I’m that annoyed…

4.5 stars I really had to debate between 4 or 5 stars. This place costs more but you get better quality food. I think overall chicken out is a hidden gem that provides food that is restaurant quality(well a simple mom & pop restaurant) that you can get with«take out» speed. The chicken here is organic and is certified from the american humane society as humanely raised, all the food is prepared daily so its fresh from that day. You can generally taste this when eating it. The spinach tastes fresh, the mashed potatoes has a few chunks of red skin mashed potatoes in it(ie not from some dehydrated potato mix). The meals are simple but you get a meal that is delicious and satisfying. Basically Chicken Out is like your mom’s good cooking served up fast. The interior is also made to look nice and inviting if you choose to eat in. Also you get a REAL knife and fork and plate if you choose to eat here. The only reason ill deduct half a star is because I do find the prices are a bit high, although i understand the chicken is organic and the food is fresh. You really can’t try to compare this place to boston market though, its night and day difference.
