Just came from here and was very disappointed. They don’t list the meats they serve for breakfast so I had to find out they don’t serve pork products as I was ordering, which is fine as it’s probably a religious thing. But then I didn’t want just an egg bagel so I settled for lox and cream cheese… Well apparently I was reading it wrong and it cost(thought it was the above price, 4.99) $ 9.35 so asked for a refund on that because $ 12.50 was way more than what I was expecting to pay for a bagel and coffee. THEN come to find out after I paid, for a bagel, cream cheese and coffee that they didn’t even have a decaf option so left with ANOTHER cash refund. I’m pregnant and don’t want that much caffeine in my body so I usually do half caf. Well, on the toasted asiago bagel and cream cheese. Barely toasted and it’s pretty plain, just tastes like a plain bagel with cream cheese. I frequent NY and NJ and get bagels from there almost every visit. They were definitely not NY style. The closest was capital bagel bakery and that’s gone now. Not coming back.

Not a good experience for several reasons. Bagels are shipped par-baked from NYC, but were below average. Had a Groupon to try for the first time. First a female employee then the much older man(owner or manager) had no idea how to accept the Groupon even though it’s been sold for over a month so we were not the first ones to use it. Bagel sandwiches are $ 7.50−8.25 which is very pricey for the size(come with a few excellent bagel chips on the side. I then ordered a bagel with cream cheese which you would think is kind of a menu staple at a bagel place. The printed menu sign overhead said $ 2.65(= $ 2.81 with tax) but the man rang it up for $ 3.18 including tax which .37 more than it should have been. When I mentioned it and said the menu says $ 2.65, the man(again either the owner or manager!) spend a long time looking up at the menu and finally asked me «where do you see $ 2.65?» He didn’t even know what was on his menu! He then said«ok, it’s $ 3» which is still .19 more than what the menu says after tax. He said a few things about his cost of importing the bagels from NY and something about the head office making the prices. I tried to explain to him that the price listed should be what is charged but he didn’t seem to understand or care. Through all of this he seemed confused and tried to tell me about his costs but never really understood that customers don’t care about his costs, they want to be charged what they see on the menu. He made it seem like charging me $ 3 was giving me a deal instead of $ 3.18. I’m not trying to nitpick about a few pennies but overcharging customers is not ok. The menu board did at closer inspection seem to have some kind of tiny sharpie alteration under the«2» in the $ 2.65 price but it clearly looked like $ 2.65. If the mark was supposed to change it to $ 3.65(pretty steep for bagel & plain cream cheese), why did he ring it up at $ 3.18? After all of this, both the pumpernickel a sesame bagels were very average and not like NYC bagels I’ve had there. Both female employees barely spoke English and the older man is also very hard to understand, which made all of the above even more frustrating. As we left the man said he would change the menu, so hopefully he does, but I’m not going back.

Oh wow! Yum yum and yum. We happened upon this cute little shop as we were strolling all the shops on the street. We’re told the secret to the bagels is the NYC water. True story! We asked for the bagels frozen and then heated them up at 325 for 10 minutes and they were perfection! The rye was so good. Made even more delicious with the scallion cream cheese. I could eat that with a spoon! They’ve gained some new fans and loyal customers. Treat yourself.

I have high bagel standards after living in New York, and this place did not disappoint since that is exactly where they get their bagels. Ordered the lox on an everything bagel with cream cheese, tomato, onion, and capers and it was so good(see photo). The staff(and a man who appeared to be the manager) were so nice and friendly! I plan to come back often!

This place is awesome. The people are really friendly. My truck died and one of the employees over heard and offered me a jump for free. I have tried the Pizza Bagel, and the Reubin. Both excellent and I get a salad and a drink every time. I have also had their regular sliced pizza. I hope to try everything while I am at this spot. If you want something fast for lunch, air conditioned and friendly people please support this business.

I was craving a Lox N’ Bagel for brunch and thought I’d try this place for the first time today. NOREGRETS! I love my bagels toasted and the owner made sure my everything bagel was. Salmon and cream cheese portions were very generous and I couldn’t even finish my bagel. They also come with onions, capers, and tomato slices. I take mine without onions, though. Everything tasted fresh and delish even though I was there at 2:45 pm, two hours before they close! The interior looks cozy, there’s a couch and lots of tables and chairs; so it’s good for groups. Perfect for breakfast and brunch. I love family-owned places and this branch is! Owner is VERY friendly and helpful and is open to suggestions. They also have falafel, tabouleh, hummus, and stuffed vine leaves! For those of you who love Lebanese and Mediterranean food, I think you might like to try some of these! I know I want to! P. S. I put the WiFi password in the tips section. You’re welcome in advance.

Falafel sandwich is absolutely delicious. Falafel itself is homemade and made from scratch. Excellent customer service! I will definitely be back…

What a HUGE let down. I’ve been coming to place since they opened up. If there was ever a problem, the manager was always quick and friendly to take care of me. This past weekend I went and the service was awful, no on seemed to know what was going on, and the woman at the register was downright rude/awkward– she rang me up completely wrong and didn’t know how to fix the problem or understand what I was saying. I was informed the manager is no longer with the shop– which was obvious as the shop was an unorganized, poorly run disaster. I guess I’m done with this place… Who wants an awkward breakfast experience at 8am?

This place is great! Still working out the kinks since they are new but solid service and a great stop in the morning.

Keep in mind this is a new place, so they are trying to find their rhythm. The owner and manager are so super nice, it is completely worthwhile going here. Their bagels honestly are not the best, but they are experimenting with other types of food which is awesome. Keep this place alive and I know they will be great!

I’m not a bagel snob and I realize the name if this place may not reflect the authenticity of their bagels, but my egg and cheese sandwich on an everything bagel was pretty good. The eggs were definitely real and not a substitute. This is a simple no frills place. It appears that the franchise is operated by a family. Everyone was friendly… no complaints there. I came in on a Sunday afternoon to knock out some homework and this happened to be a perfect place. Is it fancy and eclectically decorated like a chain coffee shop? No. But it was quiet and they had free wi-fi and seemed pretty friendly– that was enough for me.

I happen to be from NYC, born and raised. Let me tell you, this place is a gem. Delicious bagels, even better breakfast bagels. Top notch customer service. I recommend the 2 egg and cheese breakfast bagel on a salt bagel or everything bagel. Awesome.

There’s a vibe you get when you walk in there because of the owner and his family, however, don’t be fooled, it’s forced and doesn’t last.

The place was empty and they don’t serve pork although half the sandwiches have bacon or ham on them. Enough said

Bagels and cream cheese taste great. The owner/manager is very helpful. He let me sample some of the cream cheeses and even threw in 2 free bagels when he messed up my order a little. Anyone can make a mistake and I’ve been there many times with only one mistake. Customer service is great and bagels taste great. I’d go back.

The bagels just really are not great. The dough seems… off to me. There was nothing really wrong with it, and I guess it would work in a pinch, but since it is in the same place as Wegman’s, who has their own bakery, it’s unlikely we will require that. We were excited about the location, but we will drive further to Manchester Bagel because it’s worth it.

I have been to the Bagel Café twice. The last time was today for an early breakfast. I agree with the other Unilocalers. Their bagels are not the best(and I would say they don’t remind me of the NY bagels I grew up with). However, the overall quality of their sandwiches are good. I have enjoyed 2 breakfast sandwiches with generous portions of eggs and cheese. I get the impression unlike Wegman’s Café(in the same shopping plaza) they use fresh cracked eggs. The Bagel Café is also more expensive than the Wegman’s Café(and when I am pinching my pennies I won’t be choosing the Bagel Café for breakfast because of it). The Bagel Café does not offer espresso drinks(they do offer an ample selection of Green Mountain coffee flavors) which is usually fine with me(unless it is one of those mornings when I need an extra kick of caffeine). If I need an extra shot of caffeine, I could always just pop over to the Wegman’s Café and/or Pete’s Coffee(in the same shopping center). There is ample seating available(and a TV) but it is basic. It doesn’t feel like the type of café you want to linger at long. This is not a knock on the Bagel Café rather more of an observation. The customer service is fine. I got the impression that the manager(or maybe it was the owner) was working on training some less experienced cashiers. I won’t hold that against him(and it won’t stop me from coming back). I didn’t feel like it distracted from my overall experience. In a nutshell, a solid choice(but not outstanding) for a basic breakfast in the area.

We have been anticipating the opening of this place for a couple of months and finally tried it out this morning. We ordered one sausage, egg, and cheese bagel and a lox, cream cheese, onion, tomato, and capers bagel. Our bagels were rock hard, and we bought it early on a Sunday morning when you assume it would be fresh. I had NO capers in my order, one thin strand of onion, and what looked like barely a quarter ounce of lox. It was TERRIBLE. I was extremely pissed. My husband’s bagel had half a patty of sausage on one side and nothing on the other. We are both born and raised in Brooklyn, so we know NY style bagels and these weren’t it. Go and Google what a true NY bagel looks like, and there is no way you can compare this place. We won’t be going back.

NY Bagel Café & Deli is located in the Hilltop Shopping Center, right down the little road from the Wegman’s. There is street parking, and also parking lots galore so no worries about finding a spot. I popped in here this morning before my grocery trip. It’s very recently opened, so I have been looking forward to giving them a shot. Right when I walked in I was greeted by two people who were more than happy to talk to me about the bagels and let me know they were currently baking more. Huge props for alerting me to warm bagels coming out of the oven! I ended up ordering a bacon, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. I wasn’t crazy about the bacon, but the egg was really well cooked and my sandwich was clearly fresh… it came out piping hot. I love melty cheese so that was a huge plus. The bagel itself had good flavors, and was all in all just fine. It’s definitely not the big, chewy NY bagel the name would have you hope for, but it’s still good. From the looks of the menu they also have fresh smoothies and deli sandwiches, so I’ll give those a try in the future! Again, the people who were working there were very nice, the place is spotless, and for a bacon, egg and cheese and a coffee I only paid about $ 6. I’ll return.
