Burger Island

Half a pound of burger goodness. Fantastic fries. Passable sweet tea. Excellent service. Only strike is because the floors were filthy. Food gets 5 stars.

Went here recently for dinner with 3 kids. We ordered a couple of burgers, a chicken fried chicken sandwich and the corn dog bites. On the plus side the food was good — nothing super special but some nice choices in toppings etc. The kids didn’t really like the seasoning on the fries. Fortunately using lots of ketchup seemed to help them go down. I had ice tea which I barely drank — it tasted really old.
The big negative part of the experience was the service which was horrible. The guy who took our drinks order said he’d be right back to take our meal order. Then I watched as he walked out the front door. He didn’t return. I eventually had to flag down the manager so we could place an order. Even the manager put out an odd vibe like it was our fault no one took our order. The food was good enough to return (though not at the top of the list) but the service puts this on my «won’t return» list.

The wife and I really wanted a good fattening lunch… and I have always heard that IB is great. I am just frightened of the Plano (Indy/​15^th) location… and even more honestly, Snuffers reaks. (I love the stuff-​totally delish… but it has a completely rancid air to it. Like it needs to be scrubbed — oily rancid rotten bitter air hits you when you open the door. I was in the restaurant industry too long to NOT know this stench). That all being said – we hiked up north to Allen.
I love this locale! At the end of the strip, pretty clean, not too beaten. I was shocked when there was a hostess… and a server. I figured it would be just quick service style. The other thing is two TVs. Not 12, not 400 blaring or loud LOUD LOUD music. The décor was great… it’s a burger joint!
Philly Cheesesteak for wifey, extra provolone. ½ pound bacon booooger for me – as all of the burgers are this big. One single seasoned fry.
The fries were great – they were fresh cut fries with a Greek Seasoning flavored stuff on’em…good. My burger was big and fat as hell. The bacon was great-​not precooked insulting crap. Wifey’s Philly was great-​on a softish wheat long roll – very good! The best part was that it was on a plate. Not in a dumb plastic basket with wax paper or squished tight in some stupid foil (like some places are doing now)…but hot, fresh on a human plate. I enjoyed it. One drink and tip-​$ 20.
Out of all the places that have popped up-​5 Guys, Moo-​yah, Burger Break, etc etc… this is the only one I care to go to again. I’m not making too much of a burger – it’s just 2011 and I have standards. This meat was fresh and not a patty… it was good, irregular and great.

JUST finished wiping my fingers clean after finishing a chicken sandwich from this joint. I know, I know, why am I ordering a chicken sandwich from a place called «Burger Island»?! What’s next, order a burger at Charlie’s Chicken Emporium? What can I say, I was craving a chicken sandwich and this place is across the street from where I am working this week.
On to the review — fan-​tab-​u-​lous chicken sandwich. Got the Spinach Chicken Sandwich but kicked it up a notch with some japs — REALLY GOOD. It was seriously the size of my face (and I’ve got plenty of face) but was juicy (a key challenge in a chicken sandwich) and delish. Don’t ask me if I finished this massive sandwich… because your darn right I did.
I would seriously give this joint a 5 star but it’s in a non-​descript strip mall (which describes ⁴⁄₅ of the restaurants in this area), which is not really it’s fault I suppose, but dampers the ambience. They are making the best of it — nice TV on the wall and comfy seating. The staff was super cool — we had a couple of laughs and that was just in the time it took to pick up the to-​go order.

OMG the burgers here are incredible. There are a LOT of burger places in the Dallas area but this has got to be my favorite. Try the Big Island (top burger on the menu), pure melty goodness. Burgers are huge. I think to myself «I really shouldn’t eat this much, I’ll take some home» but I just can’t stop and eat the whole thing. The fry’s are something special too, my favorite burger fry’s in town too, about the only place I’ll get fries. Other places tend to charge for basic extras that make the burger something interesting, but this place’s burgers are perfect just the way their made every time.

My team from work has been on the hunt for the best burger in Collin County. We rate this place high on the list. The burgers are large. They put plenty of toppings on them and they taste great.
We also enjoy the fies.
Service was very friends as well.
For the price, this is one of the best burger deals around.

Well, what with the holidays and everything, I almost forgot to come back. This time I placed my burger order to go instead of eating at the restaurant. The wait was longer than at some places but that’s because they make it when you order it and it is certainly well worth the wait.
MMMM boy that cheeseburger was good. It’s also BIG enough that I had 2 meals. And the sweet potato fries were absolutely wonderful. And both cats were sniffing around the plate — I thought I was going to have to go hide to finish the first meal!
The food was still pretty darn hot when I got home (about 10 – 15 minutes) so that’s good news for me because I’ll remember that the next time I’m in a hurry to get home.

Good Burgers! We visited with a group of adults and kids, and everyone had a good time and good food. The menu has lots of varieties… everyone will find something they like.

I finally got around to trying Burger Island in Allen and I have to say it is a very good deal and a good burger too! For $ 8.65 I had a ½ pound jalapeño-​cheese burger, side of fresh-​cut french fries and a large Coke with refills. The burger is big, piping hot with fresh ingredients. The fries are fresh-​cut from potatoes, similar to Snuffers.
Definitely will go back and try another burger on the menu.

We order a burgers yesterday for dinner and It was very cool that they delivery burger to your house. Awesome mushroom burger. I love it. It was very huge burger that i couldn’t finish it. No doubt I will order from them again.

Visited on a weekend, and found the place to be very clean and the staff friendly. Don’t let the name fool you, they have a lot more than just burgers. Salads, chicken, and other items were in abundance — let’s just say that pretty much anyone will be able to find something on the menu they might like. The burgers (one entire page of the menu is devoted to them) are imaginative, and are big. They are all one half pound patties, and loaded with lettuce, onions, etc. There are also great choices for sides, such as home made fries (naturally), sweet potato fries, onion rings, and more. This is a great alternative to the local JC’s Burger, with more choices as well as more dining room space. As others have mentioned, the bacon cheeseburger is great! It came with several slices of crisp (but not jerky-​like) bacon, and lots of cheese. It might make a vegetarian wince, but us carnivores are likin’ it.
I know that Burger Island in Allen will probably become a frequent stop when it comes to dining out.

I visited this burger place on Tuesday this week and I must say that I was impressed. I have never been to Burger Island so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
When we walked in we were greeted right away. Our drink orders were taken and we were given the menu. The staff there is very friendly. The server asked if we had been to the restaurant before and helped explain all the different burgers, salads and menu items.
There is a good variety of burgers to choose from. I went with the Mushroom Swiss because its my all time fav, but I had a hard time choosing because everything looked and sounded so good.
The order came out really quick and was just as I had requested it. It was one of the best burgers I have had. The meat was cooked well, and all the ingredients tasted fresh. These burgers are HUGE! I tried to finish it all but I couldn’t! The fries were awesome as well!
You can’t beat the food and the great service. I will be going back again soon!

The best burger available in Allen. The burgers are huge! I’ve tried a couple different ones, but the Jungle Burger is my favorite.
In restaurant staff is friendly and helpful, but I was blown away by the person taking the phone delivery orders. Very friendly and fast with the total, double checked the spelling of our street name.

All I can say is dang… new favorite burger joint for sure!
The other day I just finished getting disappointed by Jay’s Burgers in Allen, so I wanted a real burger and a friend told me to try this place out… good call friend! I couldn’t finish my burger is was so big, and full of flavor! The fries are also good, but I did get alot of small pieces, but hey… i’m not complaining, everything else made up for it. The prices are competitive with all the others (Scotty P’s/JC’s) but in my opinion, alot better!

All I can say is these are the best burgers I’ve had in the metroplex. If there are better then I need to find them.
Won’t find a more friendly owner or staff though. They are great.

I have searched in vain to find a worthy hickory burger, until now. Scotty p’s has a fine patty, but the hickory sauce is too sweet.
This sauce has the right savory kick. And the fries are perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper.
Great service — they are really glad you are there.

So my first time here, I was a little reluctant. I mean I walk in and there are all guys serving and cooking the food, BIG GUYS!!!
My wife, children and I sit down and we are greeted by one of the nicest guys I’ve met, which shows you can’t read a book by it’s cover.
We order our food and wait, the waiter tells us about the food and refils our drinks contstantly.

I have had food from here several times now, thanks to delivery. The burgers are some of the best I’ve ever had. Big, juicy, lots of innovative toppings. The Jungle Burger is just decadent. Fried pickles are good, too. This place rocks!

I have eaten at the other Burger Islands and thought they were good. But let me tell you, these guys have it perfected. I guarantee you its the best chilly cheese burger in the DFW area. Im a life long burger expert and these guys are off the hook. Their location is terrible and they are hurting so get over there quick and keep them afloat. I live in Plano and its a short hop for me to get there so I dont want them closing down or anything, what would i do? Seriously if you want a killler burger and oh did I mention the perfect onion rings and the guys there are laid back and ready to get you what you need and they know they can deliver. They are proud of their food and how often do you get that these days?

This is the newest outlet of the popular local chain of Burger Island restaurants. The only other one I’ve dined at was the Richardson location, and though it was a while ago, I remember it to be quite tasty.
Today, we ordered a couple of burgers, a regular fries and a chili-​cheese fries, all delivered to our front door (we live literally a quarter mile away). My chili cheeseburger was ordered with bacon, and though that bacon was a bit fatty, it was still good. The chili was also quite good, though not particularly spicy as promised on the menu. My final concern was that the meat was cooked REALLY well done; a nice medium well would suit it better. Having said all of that, it was a good burger, in quality and quantity.
The fries appear to be cut from fresh potatoes; they were very flavorful and cooked well, albeit not very crispy. Still, I prefer fresh almost every time over frozen. Chili cheese fries came in a MASSIVE order, easily enough to feed 3 or 4 people, with very plentiful cheese and chili. They were delicious.
I hope Burger Island fares well, but the location they’re in is really bad, the far end of a small strip mall that’s too well hidden behind pad sites out front. My fingers are crossed.
