This place sucked. The sirloin beef was supposed to be the best cut on this all-you-can-eat-buffet however it tasted like I was eating leather despite me trying to cook it in varying amounts of cooking. Would not recommend

Came here on a Monday night with five other people. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated immediately. The service was quick and efficient. We got our buffet ingredients in about 10min. I like the variety of the items on the list and they’re pretty much the same from what you get at other hot pot buffets. The one thing I do love about this place is they provide you with the option of making your own sauce! There were like six different sauces to choose from(peanut, soy sauce, etc) and containers of chopped garlic, scallions, cilantro, and some red chili sauce. This was definitely my first time seeing something like that. I would recommend this place if you’re in the area and craving hot pot. However, I would suggest that the business update their restaurant’s name to remove the ‘Sushi’ part. There was no sushi option at all :( For the out of towners, there is a parking lot in the back with free 2-hour parking(if you can find a space!) Be wary, you will get a ticket if you stay longer than the posted time. There is also plenty of free street parking on Harvard Ave and meter spots that are free at 6pm on Comm Ave.

I was pretty surprised by the negative reviews on this place! I’ve been here for AYCE hot pot a couple of times now, and I’ve been pretty satisfied with it. They no longer have the AYCE hot pot/sushi option — only hot pot now. Pretty standard for any AYCE restaurant — you get an order sheet and place your order. There’s a large variety of meats and vegetables, so I would definitely pace yourself. The only issue is that they seem to be inconsistent with portion sizes, so we never know how much to order. If you don’t have enough though, you can always just order more. On my most recent visit this past weekend, they now have a sauce bar where you can go up and mix your own sauces and spices to your own liking. For the broth, we opted for ½ house ½ szechuan(I think). The Szechuan isn’t too spicy, and the house isn’t too flavorful. I usually depend on my own sauces for more flavor. The service here is pretty good too. They were attentive in refilling my water and also adding more water to our broth when it looked low. I’m glad that there’s finally an AYCE hot pot restaurant in Allston!

I went there for all you can eat sushi in the summer. I’ve learned they don’t do this anymore, or at least during the winter. The sushi was good quality and if they have all you can eat again, I’ll probably check it out for both hot pot and sushi, and perhaps rate Asiana a bit better. If you want to get free drinks(or ice cream as I talked the manager or owner into giving me) then pay with cash. They, of course, still do accept card.

I like their new produt — Mala pot!!! It tastes very good!!! 18.95 for the Medium pot and 28.95 for the Large pot. And you can choose your spiciness level for the Mala pot. We did the medium pot and get maximum 5 choices of vegetables and 5 choices meat & seafood. The portion is quite a lot, and I think this is the best Mala pot that I have ever had in Boston!

The food was good. Great variety of vegetables and meats for the hotpot. But let’s discuss service. first of all it is not clearly stated anywhere that the hotpot is 23PERPERSON. Restaurants should always have that stated in their menu whether it’s buffet style or not. Overall horrible service the waiters are rude.

Nice assortment of hot pot all you can eat… the vegetarian broth was ok, service also ok. Note there is a station to make your own sauce in the back(not intuitive). Nice watercress. Wish they had the dandelion vege. The beans they give you at the beginning are yummy. The place was beautiful, modern and very clean.

***NOAYCESUSHIDURINGWINTER, only during the summer; in the summer you have the option of doing both sushi AND hot pot buffet. Cray?*** Waited 1 hour for a table on a Friday night –Around $ 22/person for AYCE hot pot –A station is available to make your own sauce –Vegetables are fresh, decent meat and seafood selection; some seafood and meat selections are only available during dinner. –Sushi are made to order, for the more decent and sophisticated rolls– you had to add $ 1 to each order –Staff are friendly.

+ lunch special= bomb dot com + sushi AND hot pot buffet? YESPLEASE + price point is ONPOINT($ 17 for lunch buffet of sushi and hot pot) + large seating area for plenty of your homies Came here for a weekday buffet because this deal can’t be beat! For sushi and hot pot at the price of only one of those is pretty magical. This is was surprisingly empty for having such a good deal. It’s right on Harvard Ave along with the rest of the korean restaurants so it’s pretty easy to find. They’ve got a dipping sauce bar for both sushi and hot pot so you’ve got your choices! Soy sauce, vinegar, scallions, sa-tay, peanut sauce… you name it, it’s there. The food was fairly fresh(not quite the level of top notch, but you ARE at a buffet) and they just kept them coming. Too bad it’s weekday only, but if you can spare time in your day, definitely give it a try! After you’re done you can just mozie to the shops next door and grab a boba to round out your stomach – a perfect lunch.

Decent AYCE hot pot and sushi. Came here with a few friends and my boyfriend. While they don’t normally allow this, my friends and I had the hot pot only and my boyfriend had just the sushi. My boyfriend doesn’t like hot pot whatsoever(I know, it’s insane) so it’s not like we were trying to cheat the system. My friends and I split a kimchi and house broth. The kimchi one was good, but not nearly as good as the kimchi broth at swish. The house broth was really bland and I wouldn’t recommend it. As far all our meats and veggies — we stuck with beef and they were all decent quality and tasty. Most of the seafood was frozen(i.e. crab legs, fish balls, etc.), but still tasted good after a long swim in the soup. While I can’t personally attest to the sushi, my boyfriend said it was good for AYCE and recommended the hand rolls. The service was just okay although they forgot some of our orders multiple times — just give him a quick heads up and they’ll put it through to the kitchen immediately. Overall, the price and quality is decent for AYCE. Great for groups!

This is my favorite buffet restaurant in boston. It serves not only hotpot but also sushi. I like the spicy broth usually. But I do love the chicken broth here. It was good tasty. What’s more, their foods were very very fresh. The most impressive was their sushi which was as same as other Japanese restaurant. It was worth to try it. And, their service was excellent. Love it…

I’m a huge fan of shabu and I’m a huge fan of sushi. So put them together and you get one unbeatable combo. Driving to Vans Shabu in Dorchester can be a bit challenging, especially with traffic so I was really hoping that something of similar quality would be available a hop, skip, and a jump away. When I went with a friend, we didn’t have any problems getting a table, even on a usually busy night in Allston. Maybe I went a little too early after the grand opening, but I was unfortunately very disappointed. The food was only of the decent variety, without any notable quality to speak of. That’s a bad sign when an AYCE place first opens. You can choose which type of buffet you want, either the Shabu, Sushi, or both. I went with both so that I could get the full experience. They do all the things that you would expect a sub-par AYCE place would do. The sushi, of course, had lots of rice to make sure that you fill up. The sauces and broth were salty enough that throughout the meal, I found myself consuming lots of water. Combining water and rice that way is a sure way to get full quickly. The meats were not especially high quality and I found myself questioning the freshness of the food. The worst part of it, however, was that when I felt that I didn’t want to eat something due to the quality and proceeded to order something else, I was told that I would have to finish what I had ordered before they will bring more. Frankly, I didn’t feel that great after eating there, both physically and just. well, being satisfied with my meal. There are definitely better options out there. It’s too bad — I was really hoping for more.

I love buffets so I was vert happy when a sushi and hotpot buffet happened up in Allston, previous I had to go to Chinatown for a good hotpot buffet deal. However I wasnt very impressed with this place, its ‘just okay’. Its got the standard selection of hotpot items, definitely get the non house broth because its really bland, the sichuan broth was tasty. Unfortunately on weekdays, its dinner price all day, which is unfortunately because the hotpot buffet in chinatown is lunch prices on saturday and they have a bigger selection. Though I was hoping to find a new favorite hotpot place, the hotpot buffet in chinatown on saturdays remains my favorite.

Great location for AYCE hot pot. But for the love of food! The main component of hot pot is the soup base! If the most basic soup base, which is typically herbal broth, doesn’t even taste like anything, water and some chicken broth, I’m at a total loss. The meats were decent, not served half frozen. Greens were super fresh. Fish balls were great, especially the fuzhou ones with the fillings inside. We were provided with the sauce and mix ins like scallions, garlic, chili peppers, and a meat/bean paste. The service was quick, thanks to all the former complaints they upped their game. Sauce and water were replenished. Extra napkins on request. My family and I stuffed ourselves silly but alas, the soup base did not satiate my hunger for complexity which other hot pot places have done. It was a tough decision because the meats and veggies came out nicely and the service was great but the soup base, THESOUPBASE! I was eating boiled food in hot water and dipping it in sauce. Good to experience, just don’t get house broth, pay a little extra for the malat or some other flavor, might return due to proximity of location. $ 21.95 for AYCE hot pot dinner only, what do you think?

It’s about time that there’s an AYCE Shabu/sushi in the hood! They actually did a bit of remodeling between the first and second time I’ve been. They removed the horseshoe counter for individual Shabu. They replaced it with booths. There’s plenty of TVs around the dining to occupy yourself in you’re not with good company. It’s not the quickest if service, but the quality is good for the price. Even if you can’t eat your money’s worth, it’s still reasonably price enough. The quality is tad lower than Shabu Zen but so is the price. In that sense, if I’m not craving for something specific, I’d come here to fulfill my Shabu cravings from now on. The sushi here is fresh. Sashimi is only avail during dinner and some rolls cost extra. The selection is good enough for me — tuna, salmon, yellowtail sashimi. Tobiko, tako, ika, unagi nigiri. They actually give real tobiko and not the masago crap! So there’s 3 options to choose from: Shabu only, sushi only or both. I did both the two times I went for just under $ 26. The second time I went, the service was attentive. Much better than the first time. My water glass was never empty and the broth was never low. I just thought it was weird that the waitress kept yacking to me in Mandarin from the moment we sat down. This ain’t Chinatown so why can’t they just speak in English? My mandarin suckass so I rather not speak it if I don’t have to.

IT’S HOTINHERE. STEAMY. BOILING. Words I do not like to associate with restaurants. Food, yes. The restaurant itself, no. How does a hot pot place not have vents?! Isn’t that a fire hazard? Warning to those who wear glasses: your glasses will get foggy the instant you walk in here. Completely foggy. And will take a while for them to defog no matter how many times you wipe them clean with your shirt. The food is decent. Meat was of subpar quality you expect and the sushi is mostly rice but tasty enough. Although, the broth’s flavor that fell flat for me — even with my low expectations. But ultimately the idea of AYCE hot pot and sushi for one price isn’t a bad deal — which is really why you come. The appeal of the idea.

Shabu Zen has some competition in Allston?! This place is trying to kill two birds with one stone. It’s trying to do sushi and hotpot, but you have the option of doing one or the other… or both! While I don’t believe it will put Takusan out of business with their sushi game, I do believe that the AYCE hotpot is a contender. I know a lot of girls are going to be complaining about the quality of the hot pot, but I think that it is pretty decent at an all you can eat establishment. As far as the«rules» of eating hotpot, I think that you should ask first. Who knows how many times I have been kicked out of hot pot buffets for eating too much? Compared to other hot pot buffets, I think the meat here is good and I like the wide selection of frozen tofu, fish tofu, tofu tofu, etc. I would have to come more often to see the consistency of the freshness, but I believe it is pretty good. The meat doesn’t have freezer burns and it is cut thinly. If you are getting the spicy mongolian… beware! It is hella spicy. I thought it was going to be more herbal, but they threw a ton of chilies in there. If you think about getting hotpot with sushi on the side, an extra $ 4 doesn’t seem like a lot. I ate 2 plates of sushi and about 5 plates of meat and 3 plates of vegetables. Overall, pretty good first impression. Nothing really stuck out to me flavor-wise, but I didn’t end up with the usual sick to the stomach regret I usually get when I accidentally order too much at a buffet. I came on a weekday night, so I imagine it to be pretty busy on the weekends. If you really plan on being a chinaman who tries to squeeze out every cent of a buffet, then I would recommend ordering a large portion at once and then order again when you are halfway through your current order. You should know how much you can eat. I don’t know if they charge extra for wasted food since I always finish mine.

I had such a wonderful time with my friend at Asiana last night! We came for the all-you-can-eat sushi and ended up getting both sushi and hot pot. Thank goodness we did, because it was a fantastic experience. Granted, I had never had hot pot before and as everything came out, I became increasingly excited about the idea of it. The owner, Stella, came over to the table to explain how to go about it and was so tickled by the fact that I had never had hot pot before. She was so personable and endearing, it was an honor to learn all about hot pot from her. The food was all delicious. The sushi maybe wasn’t the best I’d ever had, but it was still quite good. The service was phenomenal. I noticed that many reviewers have noted that the servers had forgotten to bring certain parts of the meal and that did happen to us for the crab legs we ordered with the hot pot, but I really wasn’t bothered because, hey! It’s all-you-can-eat gosh darn-it! We just ordered those babies for the next round of our feast! The bottom line for me was that even though there were a couple of things that weren’t at a level of perfection, I had so much freaking fun at this place, that I just don’t care. Stella and the rest of the staff were amazing and treated us like new friends, and my first hot pot experience was delicious and exciting. I will absolutely be coming back here and will recommend it to friends.
