I tried laser lipo at Light Fx in Ann Arbor in an attempt to spot reduce my arms, which are disproportionally large. It was a package deal of laser lipo with a second treatment for skin tightening(three treatments a week over 5 weeks) at a cost of a little over $ 1700.00. Despite bringing my iPod there were a lot of nosy questions and one of the techs, Pam, even went into detail about her religious faith. This lack of professionalism in the observance of spa etiquette was a bad sign of worse to come. About my third treatment with Pam she told me prices would soon go up but(lucky me) I could prepay for another package at the current price if I did so by Dec 1st. I hadn’t seen results yet, and I began to wonder if this was an attempt to manipulate me into spending more while I was still uncertain whether the treatments would work for me. I called another location and was told there was no anticipated price increase, which would come down from corporate. The manager, Sonja, was there only about half the time; the next time she came in I asked her about this and she confirmed no pending increase. Pam became increasingly rude. I don’t know whether it was because I embarrassed someone in a lie or obviously wouldn’t be around much longer so(to her mind) it didn’t matter how she treated me. She even left me in the treatment room without completing the treatment-the manager wasn’t there but a second tech later came in and asked me if I was finished! All this time they were completely unconcerned about my experience which was devolving into harassment. When I the told the manager, Sonja, that Pam had left me waiting in the treatment room without doing my other arm(she took off to treat someone else!) and without telling the other tech, she didn’t dispute that this had occurred but told me that Pam«had done nothing wrong» and asked me not to say«horrible» things about my experience. Which begs the question, how can what I say be «horrible» if nothing wrong was done? There is a lack of accountability here. When I first met the manager, she showed me before and after pictures of an arm positioned against a graph which showed a difference at many measurement points. Pam just took a single cursory measure at one point with a measuring tape-it seems they don’t expect enough to bother with before and afters. What they do spend time on is telling you to exercise the treated area half an hour a day and that results will vary. I did exercise and diet and did not see a reduction in the treated area. I told Pam that I had not lost anything in my arms but was dieting and going to the gym and had lost half an inch in my hips which I didn’t want. She said«Why?» I said, «Because I’m here for my arms!» There is a warming sensation with the Laser Lipo which was absent in the later sessions with Pam and it wouldn’t surprise me if the lack of ethics went as far as incomplete treatments in this poorly supervised establishment.
