Meijer Optical

I’ve never had any problems at this store and everyone I know that has been here hasn’t had problems. I’ve bought two pairs of glasses and a few boxes of contacts here as well. They’re professional, friendly and efficient. Plus, they have great deals like half off a pair of glasses. Can’t go wrong with that!

Staff is sometimes absent, always rude, and extremely unhelpful.
On my first visit I was told that the optometrist was absent because of a family emergency, which is fine. I was also told that I should have been called, which I had not been. Incredulously the rude staff member basically insisted I was not telling the truth. They further insulted their company’s own online system lamenting that it even existed (do not book your appointment online, it annoys them). Of course when looked up in the computer, shockingly, I was listed.
Further, on my second, rescheduled attempt at getting an eye exam, I was told that the store manager had a flat tire so they couldn’t open. I had to reschedule a second time.
On my third and final exam I was able to get in, however after the exam I was told that my insurance would not be accepted. I had checked with my insurance company ahead of time and I demanded they run my card. Low and behold… it was accepted! Apparently they were lying because they didn’t want to do the paperwork. And I don’t make that accusation lightly.
Further, keep in mind that if you call ahead to check the price of your eye exam appointment, that dilation is not included, a basic part of any thorough eye exam.
The doctor herself was fine, although rushed. Apparently they share doctors with other Meijer Optical locations.
Overall, a terrible experience. I won’t be back.

I was surprized that Meijer had an optical shop and really surprised how knowledgeable Karen was. She was helpful in picking out my frame and I was able to get the best lenses. The glasses were just a fraction of the price I paid last time.
