Do not order at the bar for take out. Unexplained delays. Should not take moe than 45 minutes for a simple take out order. Service at the bar disorganized and I knowledgable Update. Sushi was great. Based on food alone 4 stars. Management did help out and was responsive. Definitely worth another try. Not at the bar though

1. They do not have a full bar, they will not do shots. 2. They brought out some of our sushi, then brought out the rest of the sushi after we started getting out hibachi food. 3. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks, since the waiter disappeared. He would only show up to ask us if we needed drinks after we went and got them ourselves. 4. We never received the salad that was supposed to come with the meal. 5. We asked for garlic, never got it. 6. This was on a Saturday night at about 630. They were not very busy at all, there were several hibachi stands open. That should have given us a clue right there. 7. After we received the bill we all put in cash, with one of the remaining people paying off the remainder with her credit card. After she paid, and we walked out she noticed an additional 6.95 was charged to her card.

My husband and I went on a Saturday evening at about 5:30−6 and it was just in time, We didn’t have reservations but we were seated right away for sushi, shortly after us there were several people who had to wait. My husband and I got the sushi boat. The soup and salad were great and served quickly and the boat had an awesome variety of sushi. It was all very good, the only downfall was the dragon had too much eel sauce, but besides that I have nothing bad to say. Will definitely go back. Pricing was average for good sushi.

Stopped here on the way back from Green Bay; should have kept going. It was Thursday at 5:45pm and the restaurant looked to be around 30% seated. They have a happy hour menu for drinks and some basic rolls for $ 3 each and a few speciality rolls for $ 7 each. I ordered Tako(octopus) served sashimi style($ 7.00), which the menu has a picture of and it is explained that it comes with cucumbers. What she brought me was the octopus salad, a VERY different dish(but one that WAS listed on the menu). The octopus was chopped, and was mixed with seaweed and flying fish roe. If she would have explained that there was an error, and that what was made was actually the salad… I might have been ok. Instead she lied and said that«This was the chef’s interpretation of the dish.» I asked her again, by pointing to the picture in the menu if this was the dish I ordered and she again lied. I told her I did not want the dish and she took it. 5 minutes later she said that she would have the chef prepare it in the«traditional» way. She brought out a plate with 7 slices of octopus soaking in ponzu. It was so salty that it was nearly inedible. The unagi was not well prepared($ 4 for 2 pieces) and the sauce was laid on thick to hide any real taste of the eel. The hamachi(yellowtail)($ 4 for 2 pieces) was about the best that they served me and I would give it a 7⁄10. THEGOOD: The Hamachi was meh, about the quality of good supermarket prep. THEBAD: The eel and the rolls were sloppily prepared and the octopus was just thrown together. THEUGLY: If so little care is taken with preparation, then I worry about cleanliness too. In a nutshell I hope they do hibachi better than they do sushi. If you’re looking for good sushi, then I would suggest another venue. If you think supermarket sushi is the best you have ever had, then you may not mind this place.

We were the only ones here which I found odd for such a large place, I have heard really good things but I wasn’t too impressed. Sushi was ok but not great. We ordered the winter roll and one of the kinds of fish in that roll was very chewy, had to spit it out :/other then that our salt shaker had bugs in it

Hibachi is good with food made on the scene. Service is friendly and the owner is very nice and eager to please. However It won’t be worth it if you don’t have any discount or specials on hand, over priced for regular price. I would try it if I have groupon voucher or any other sorts of discount. Sushi is definitely not authentic. For that reason I probably should give it 3.5 star if I can, but still to class up for them.

We were greeted right away and the hostess was friendly. The place wasn’t very busy but it’s also a big place. Our sushi was good and we got all of our food pretty quickly. The bathroom was also clean. Some of the décor looks old and it’s dark but otherwise good food for the price.

Went for sushi tonight. I will say when I walked in I was not impressed. As we stood here for 4+ min there was no hostess, no one greeted us. I wanted to leave. Glad we didn’t. Once we sat down our server was very attentive. Service was good. Rolls that were supposed to be hot were hot. Rolls that were supposed to be cold, were cold. Everything was fresh. I’ll go again!

Slow Sunday. Pro: food came out on a decent time. Con: dumplings was cold(slow day, only two other customers). Server never came to check back. Food was ok. I’ll still come back but will be rarely.

This is our family’s second sushi choice in the area. Unfortunately, I feel as though their quality is declining. They have a wide variety of rolls and they are good, but the last few times that we were here, the ingredients did not taste fresh. Almost like they were wrapped up the night before and then served. The prices are reasonable for what you get and Osaka is the only hibatchi grill I know of in town. The hibatchi is very good! I had the teriyaki shrimp and noodles and MOURNED the fact that I forgot and left my leftovers behind! If you go during the day like we tend to, do not go right when it opens. I feel as though they should wait until they are fully prepared to open their doors, since my mom and I got to talk over the vacuums and watch the front walkway get mopped while we ate. Also, during the day it seems like they have the lights off along with the shutters closed. It does not make for the greatest ambiance; it feels like you are eating in a tomb. We are willing to give them another try, but if the mediocrity continues, we are out.

One of the better places in Appleton to get sushi… The philly rolls were ok but not as great as the eel rolls. The bartenders are amazing too! Their martinis are top notch… Lemon meringue pie is one of my favorites. Also their potsticker are super yummy! We usually grab apps and drinks and then the sushi to go.

Great place. Groupon is awesome for this place. Sushi is very good and fresh. The dinners include a lot but always get an extra order of rice.

The food was just okay. Asked if any substitutions were possible«no can’t do that.» These were things like adding vegetables to the meal. The service was terrible. Our server brought one meal out then five minutes later the second meal and the final meal about fifteen minutes later. Don’t think I would waste my time. I am not sure about our server, but she was short with us and didn’t seem to really care.

First time here… Drive past nearly every other weekend in route of picking up/dropping off my son. Was greeted immediately by 2 hostess and escorted to the sushi bar. My waitress came by in ample time to take my order and was kind enough to suggest a popular specialty rolls since I’m a first timer. There was only one sushi chef however and it’s Friday night. Surprisingly I got my food on time. The sushi was decent enough but I was really irritated that the rolls that were supposed to have cream cheese had something else in them… I’m guessing string cheese since it was more that consistency. I ate my meal and continued to receive good, friendly service all the way until walking out the door. I wouldn’t eat here again however… I prefer great sushi rather than«good enough» sushi. Especially when it’s essentially the same price.

We have come here twice now, and look forward to a third. We have thus far only dined in the sushi area, as that is our favorite thing when dining out together. The first time we had the Love Boat plate for two sushi/sashimi combination. Amazing! Last night(our second visit), we had California roll, Tuna roll, Oshinko roll, eel and cucumber roll, and crab rangoon. Everything was fresh and delicious. The rice on the rolls was perfect and still warm. Service was friendly, attentive, and no faster or slower than I would expect in a fine dining experience. We are looking forward to trying the Hibachi the next time we go :)

Absolutely delish! On a Thursday night, an old friend and I met there for dinner. The place was fairly quiet as I sat at the bar waiting. They immediately informed me of the happy hour specials, which we both decided to take advantage of. And they offered a second drink before the«time ran out» which was nice. We had the Dragon and the Halloween rolls. They were REALLY good. Green tea ice cream was included as a dessert, very interesting and smooth. Quick and friendly service, we will go there again for sure!

We visited Osaka on Saturday May 31st. We came to enjoy a hibachi dinner. The hibachi chef was using a very dirty towel to wipe his utensils. As he was spinning the eggs and breaking them he was getting shells everywhere and he did not pick all the shells out of the finished product. He cooked the swordfish far too long and when he tried to flip the lemon half to catch on his fork the lemon fell on the floor. He picked it up off the floor to try to catch on his fork again. It dropped on the floor again and I think the only reason he chose not to use this lemon was the look of shock on our faces. We will not be going back.

Not so great! I had the sushi lunch special and it tasted like the rolls had been pre-made for the lunch rush. I wouldn’t eat here again.

I can only write what I experienced yesterday, can’t say anything about the past. Every employee I met in the restaurant had a huge smile and fantastic attitude towards me. Service was fast. The food was very good. The sushi had a lot of fish and not so much rice like other local sushi restaurants. I always measure sushi restaurant with rice fish ratio, additional to the freshness of fish. They had plenty of chilled sake varieties, only one hot. The prices were quiet good, nice size seared tuna salad — 10, nice size 6 pc sushi roll 12 — etc I didn’t eat at the hibachi side, I can’t comment on that.

I was hesitant coming here with all the reviews of poor unfriendly service on Unilocal, which are typically accurate, but we were greeted by a smiling hostess and inviting atmosphere. The waitress wasn’t overly friendly, but provided adequate service and attention. She wasn’t too far away when my sake was empty and I needed another. Osaka uses some fresh garlic sauce and teriyaki sauce for various dishes making the food very tasty. The chef was slightly entertaining and friendly, but after all we came here to eat and the hibachi was great. I like Nakashima, but the seafood combo of lobster, shrimp and scallops at Osaka blew Nakashima away.
