Not exactly the easiest place to find, but the beach itself is nice. Like a lot of California’s beaches it was a bit windy, but the sand was soft and warm. Access to the beach is via a sandy path, and will be about a 10 minute walk. If you are handicapped or have a walking disability, you would be better off to find another beach with easier access. Overall, a fun place to take the family for some beach time.

My wife and I were in look for a nice beach in the Eureka area beings we were here for the day. We ended up finding this one after a little bit of searching. We found the«Friends of Dunes» and parked walked past the visitors center and about 15 minutes down the sandy path. It is not the easiest walk but it is definitely worth it. There was practically no one there which made it very nice, the sand was also very clean. If we ever back in the area I can assure we will be returning.

The beach access trails are sand and it’s a 10 minute walk to the beach. My father had to stay behind because of his bad knees. My mother, kids and myself all made the trek. There is a nice long stretch of beach and we saw a surf fisherman. Dogs are welcome. There is a cool nature conservatory there too at the trail head.
