Microsoft Store

THIS LOCATION IS CLOSED… I’m typing more here because I can’t post without a minimum amount of words. Looked this store up online, nothing said it was closed. Went to the location only to find hair care products. Yeah, not quite what I was looking for.

Got what I needed quickly– not a huge selection, but efficient service and nice set up to play with products. Don’t go expecting an apple store like experience– that’s not their bag, baby. Good place to go to purchase a surface or surface accessories.

This location is more of a kiosk than an actual storefront. Located on the first floor near Sears and Forever 21, you will see all of the top Microsoft products displayed in a hands-​on fashion. The Surface Pro, Xbox One, Windows phones, etc. They do have quite a good variety of tech for you to interact with before making a purchase. And MS does offer an unconditional 30-​day return policy so you can bring back what you don’t like before time expires.
The one drawback is staff. While nice, they are extremely slow and don’t necessarily know their products well enough. I guess I’m comparing to the Apple Store geniuses (hard not to make the comparison honestly) when I saw this MS store location has long way to good in trying to match the service and knowledge level. One particular pain point for my experiences: there are dedicated laptop machines for various service sign ups (wireless account access by vendor, Xbox trade-​in promos, etc.) and there always seems to be issues with these machines. I walked in with a friend and watched the time it took to purchase a new Surface Pro 3 bubble up over 2 hours! And this was maybe after 10 – 15 minutes of playing with a floor model, asking a few basic questions, and then saying «OK sell it to me please». We had to ask them about bundle deals, etc. We also wanted a new Windows phone (HTC One M8) but the laptop that connected to Verizon servers was acting up and prevented this from happening. Really?
I’ll visit when there are deals too good to pass up since it’s the closest MS Store to me, but I won’t go out of my way to make any casual visits in the near future. I would stress that you try to contact the store in advance if you plan to upgrade a cell phone so they can start the process before you show up, might save you some time. Just sayn’…

Finally! A Microsoft Store in D/​FW! Great friendly, knowledgeable people, great prices! Hope things go well so they open a full size store soon!
