I took my family here to enjoy some skating. It is what I would expect from a skating rink. The skates were good, the floor was fine, the music was acceptable, and the staff was friendly. It could use some renovation, but was reasonably priced and worth it.

The facilities were fine and the people at the entrance, skate rental and snack bar were nice. Short digression: We have taken our family to a number of rinks here(DFW) and I noticed at each there were a number of people wearing headphones. I use to think this was strange but after going to skate for 2.5 hours and hearing 2 maybe 3 good songs I understand why. We arrived at the Skatium Sunday afternoon around 3:30 and left at 5:30. The music was terrible. It seems they pay NO attention to who is actually skating because there were mainly young adults, teens and preteens on the floor and all they played was music for an older white crowd. We will try it again on a saturday because we were told this is one of the best in DFW. Maybe they were just trying out a new dj.

How is it possible this place has been open so long and it’s NEVER been cleaned, updated or renovated? I cringe when we get to invited to bday parties here, it’s just disgusting. Even the private little party rink is awful. The skates they provide look, smell and feel vintage… as in, everyone who has passed through that place since 1970 has sweated in those skates. As many birthday parties as they do, you’d think they could offer up at least a little bit of clean and comfortable seating for grandparents or new moms. If the owners of this place haven’t set aside some money in all this time for a decades-long due renovation, shame on them! If they have, what’s the holdup? ???

On December 27, 2014, I visited this establishment with my family. I paid for 3 people to skate: myself, my son and my two year old daughter. My daughter was asleep when we arrived, but I bought her a ticket to skate as I was paying with a debit card and didn’t want to make multiple transactions. I went to the counter and got my son his skates then took a seat with the sleeping toddler. When she awoke, I went back to the counter for our skates. My daughter didn’t want to skate. She never put the skates on, so I took them back to the counter and turned them in. I went to the ticket counter for a refund because we weren’t going to be skating. I was told that 30 minutes had elapsed, and I could not receive a refund. I was not informed of any 30 minute rule when I purchased a ticket for a sleeping baby. I should have been informed. The sales girl saw that I was holding a sleeping baby. I should not have been sold a ticket for a sleeping baby if there is a 30 minute rule if kids don’t want to skate. There was no sign visible that stated this rule was in place or I wouldn’t have bought her a ticket. I asked if I could, instead of a refund, receive a pass for my son who was skating to be able to skate at a future date. I was told no because it had been 40 minutes and there’s a 30 minute rule. I am very displeased with this establishment. I essentially paid $ 23 for my son to skate for a couple hours. I will not patron this business again because I was ripped off. Kalicia Williams

The staff has always been nice but It gets very crowded on the weekends. There will be a lot of kids that don’t follow directions so watch out for them. They will cut you off. I like the discounted skating on Wednesdays but I wish they would clean their floors more. I’m constantly having to scrub my wheels after being there. Sometimes I will have to stop skating because my wheels are so dirty they aren’t gripping properly.

Skating is a dying past time. It may actually be pretty much dead. I don’t know. Either way, as Big Wheel, Skate Land, Forum, and that other I can’t remember were all going out of business(and probably collapsing) the Arlington Skatium opened. It was big, new, exciting, and not something I was interested in anymore. Fast forward a few years(almost 18 – 20, I think) and I find myself at school fundraisers and PTO activities. A few have been here. It’s exactly the same as when I was in junior high. This has pros and cons. It’s still dirt cheap, it’s still a giant, wooden rink, there’s still neon lights and goofy carpet. It’s great. Granted, they also still treat inline skates like a new development, the carpet and restrooms are pretty gross, the snack bar is a sad state of affairs, and the arcade is… well… not worth it. I mean, the last couple decades haven’t left it looking too hot. Overall, it’s a fun place for the kids. The music seems to keep up with what they think is popular and they can«get away» from their parents. Couples skates, neon, races all still happen. It’s a fun piece of nostalgia that seems to be coming back into the limelight.

its a fun place and they have cheap skate night on Wednesday’s. food is what you would expect from a place ran by kids. they do couples skate. they have a small room on the side with a smaller rink for you to have parties and special events.

Yuk, this place is dirty and sticky! The bathroom stinks and the floor in the food area looks grimy! The staff is very nice! The carpet seems to be the most updated. Here for a birthday party and won’t be back.

This is the worst place ever!!! Ok o the size of the rink and prices are good… BUT the place needs to be drowned in bleach! 1.) its hot 2.) the water fountain is next to the restroom and smells like urine 3.) the restroom was so disgusting! smelled like urine, no paper towels, water all over the counter, soap dispenser broken did I mention mention the urine smell? 4.) the carpet throughout the place was soiled with who knows what 5.) aww the food court TERRIBLE! poor girls behind the counter two girls trying to serve the entire rink! The large pizza we got had frozen spots we had two and both the same, the small pizzas I was told tasted like 1.50 $ tostinos pizza, we got diet carbonated water aka pepsi… the tables were full of trash no where to sit! and when we were leaving my son found a huge spider! This place is horrible its not the workers fault they seemed to be understaffed so who ever the owner is should be ashamed! Parents if you take your children have them go porty befor you get there and take hand sanitizer…

I have to say that this skating rink is in really good condition. The private rink is pretty good, but a little rough in spots. I’ve been to this rink for private parties and regular parties. We’ve rented it once before too. The price for the private rink is definitely comparable to any other place to have a party(i.e. Pump It Up, ASI Gymnastics, etc.). I do not care to go on a Friday or Saturday night when it is packed with a bunch of kids that have been dropped off by their parents. But daytime and weeknights is fine.

This rink is HUGE. However, that also leaves room for many many other skaters. So, if you are not a strong skater or have little ones learning to skate I would recommend their private skating rink. It’s smaller but for a rental for parties this is much more ideal. I like this rink, but hate the crowds. I deal with it because I enjoy skating. They don’t allow outside food or drinks so bringing your own water is out of the question; which sucks. You’ll wait a while for your water at the concession area… again, due to crowds. Basically, if you’re down for weaving in and out of kids and flailing grown ups then this place is for you! I myself, don’t let it bother me and look at it as great practice to focus on what I’m doing. lol

First time at a skating rink here in Tx. And I gotta say I was fairly impressed with this place. We came here for a party so I can’t comment on admission and rental prices. The place is huge though! There’s a main rink for the general public and a private one for parties where we were at. The music was off the hook, though I’m not sure it was so appropriate for a kids’ party. 50 Cent, Jay-Z and Too Short were on heavy rotation;(and the Cupid Shuffle… good God stop playing that stuff!!!) I was expecting a lot of Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber stuff instead. They had a few skating games to entertain the kids which was cool.

A really great place for a birthday party. Skatium has TWO skating rinks! They have the main one open to the public and a private one on the side for special events. My aunt and uncle hosted my little cousin’s birthday party in the private rink and it was great. Renting that space out was about $ 250. Staff was wonderful, flexible, and accommodating to a dozen little girls, their parents, and families. Highly recommended.

This is by far the best skating rink in north Texas. It’s twice as big and the wood floor is in better shape than most. It’s only $ 6 to get in(at least last time I went) and they have a good amount of seating and tables to set your stuff on etc. Even if you’re in Dallas like I am it’s worth driving 20 – 30 minutes out here rather than go to one of the crappy ones in Dallas.
