Do we know what is coming up in place of Trail Dust? I drove by and saw a new restaurant being built, but wondered if anyone knew anything about the new restaurant. Trail Dust will be missed.

This place is disgusting! I have never had a more awful experience at restaurant before. All of the wait staff are extremely unprofessional. I think they are taught this by the manager THEGMOFTHERESTAURANT! I saw a server drop a piece of toast on the floor and proceeded to put it back on the plate, and serve it to their guest. I told my server I would like to speak to the manager. The short manager proceeded to argue with me, telling me I was mistaken. When I called to speak to the Gm about my experience the next day. She proceeded to call me a liar and hung up on me. This restaurant is awful! DONOTGOHEREIFYOUARELOOKINGFORGOODFOOD, ORFRIENDLYSERVICE. This place is the worst of the worst WHITETRASHHILLBILLY’S!

I can’t really report on the food because we went to where it was and the building is no longer there. It is just a parking lot with a fence on it. Hope this helps

Just looked online and it claims they are closed for remodeling. Glad to hear it is being remodeled vs. permanently closed.

It’s closed! :(I love this restaurant and have been coming since I was a kid. Just drove up and lights are off on a Saturday night.

Arrived at 7:30 on a Saturday night, and had a grueling three hour dinner. The wait to be seated was about 30 minutes which is to be expected on a weekend night. Once it was our turn to be seated, we walked up to the table that had mashed potatoes all over it. The waitress proceeds to just brush it off, and not grab a towel. We wait 10 minutes for the waitress to take our order. Our salads come out and we have to wait 5 minutes to get a fork to eat them. Still no drinks. After a reasonable wait for our food came out, but with issues. My daughter’s steak was served rare, when it was ordered medium. Also we were missing one of my sides of skewered grilled vegetables. It took the waitress 10 minutes to come back to take the steak back to the kitchen. At that point we reminded her of the missing vegetables, when she replied that they are cooking. While half of my party finished their meals, our drinks needed a refill. We did not see the waitress at all. After a 20 minute wait for refills, I went to find a manager as I also had yet to get the vegetables or returned steak. The manager was in street clothes and was holding his toddler. I explained my issues since arriving, and was assured that he would take care of it. His solution was to just send a different waiter to aid the waitress. While finally getting a refill and the food mishaps taken care of, we were ready to leave. We requested the check, which took another 10 minutes, and to our supprise there was no reprise to the total. I do not mind paying for what I consume, but making a 12 year old wait 2 hours to eat is rediculus. While waiting for her to pick up the card, she brought another check. She was completely dumbfounded that she had already brought one. We have been here before with great service. But that was not a busy weekend. Never again.

We used to love the Trail Dust experience. The slide is fun, the steaks(especially the T-Bone) were great, and service was always fine. Well, now, at least the slide is still fun. We went there on a Sunday afternoon when they weren’t that busy, so service should have been pretty good. Unfortunately, the waitress must not have received any training because she was very unfamiliar with the menu. I was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve a T-Bone…what’s with that? The sirloin I received was very fatty and not too flavorable. Because of all the fat and gristle, I was only able to eat about half of the steak. I ordered and 8 oz. steak and my son ordered a 12 oz., but when they arrived they both appeared to be the same size. I mentioned that to the waitress, but she just left with a puzzled look on her face. Dessert was just a ripoff. The model desserts at the entrance all showed large scoops of ice cream with them. When our three desserts arrived, there was no ice cream. I mentioned to the waitress that they were different than what the display showed. She brushed it off saying that the menu had been«updated». When we left, we mentioned the dessert issue to the three hosts who weren’t very busy. They agreed we should have had the ice cream, so we asked to speak to the manager. One of the hosts went to get him, but after a 5 minute wait he hadn’t arrived so we left. I sent an email to the manager as soon as we got home. That was fourdays ago and I haven’t heard a thing from him yet. It appears he just doesn’t care. Sad to see what used to be a great restaurant being run so poorly now.

The server originally seated us to a table with chairs on which someone had vomited. We moved ourselves. After 20 minutes, no one had taken our order, and we couldn’t find a server. So we just left and went to Salt Grass.

Our first time here because a friend told us they had some good steaks. Not this particular location but another one. So I decided to check trail dust out and there happens to be this location near my house on 30 and 360. My girlfriend and I came on Sunday at 7pm. We walked in and girl working the front was talking with other workers as we stood there waiting for a seat. It took forever as we were hungry. She finally found us a seat amongst all the empty seats that were available. Then she tells me to follow our waitress to our table and she walks off as if she didn’t want us. We eventually sat down then never gotten any service at all. We sat there with our menu for about 7 minutes and no one ever came to our table. So we got up and left and will never come back. So glad saltgrass steakhouse was next door to save our night.

After a full day at the park riding rides and sacrificing eating all day to ensure we covered all of the big roller coasters before we passed out, we were famished to say the least. We wanted a real man’s meal considering we were on a guy’s only trip.(As if you couldn’t tell bc had we had the women with us we would have been castrated if we even tried to pull the«no eating all riding» technique) So we got cleaned up and headed down the street from our hotel to the closest steakhouse ready to tear it up to a degree our caveman ancestors would be proud of. My 15 yr old son(thinking he will be the tech savvy investigator he believes he is) starts pulling up Unilocal and Urbanspoon to figure out which place we should conquer. Of course since he isn’t coughing up the dough for this meat ravishing feast he isn’t even giving a care in the world to the«dollar sign» indicators next to the restaurants. He automatically clues in to Saltgrass and tries to convince the«actual dough cougher uppers» that we should head that direction. Well we ended up stopping first at Saltgrass and as soon as we walked in we walked right back out since the wait was going to be an HOUR& a HALF for only 5 of us! What?! Ok, so we mustered up enough courage and headed into Trail Dust to check er out! ;) As we entered through what seemed like a side door, there were lots of chairs and tables that were empty but we could hear lots of commotion and music going on around the corner. The hostess told us it would be 15 min for a seat so we thought it was odd since it seemed like no one was waiting for a table. Sure enough less than 3 min later, «JOSH, party of 5» and we were off to the large dining room where it was pretty packed. The first thing my sons noticed was the big stainless steel slide they had to the left where there was a line almost out the door of kids(plenty of adults too) waiting to slide down this behemoth. Nope, never seen a slide inside a restaurant before and no, I’m not counting McDonalds as a restaurant. There was a stage up to the right and they had a pretty decent country band playing and jamming out while a few patrons were actually tearing up the dance floor(yes, there was a dance floor there too). Suddenly I started checking off mentally about the food and was leaning on giving them a 5 star rating just for all of the crazy entertainment they had there. After sitting down and almost all ordering the Porterhouse, I can certainly tell you the meat was tender and juicy! The mesquite wood they use to charbroil it really came through and the 20 ounce slab of delicious meat was quickly a thing of the past for my dad, my son and myself. Even my 8 yr old ordered the kids steak medium rare and it was great! All in all, I would say that if you were out on a weekend and really wanted to have some fun and enjoy a great steak; you found it!

Great dinner at the Trail Dust Steak House. We arrived about 5:30, before they got busy. Kids had some fun on the slide. Our waiter Kevin was great, very friendly and always right on time to meet our needs. Had the chips and salsa for app, salsa was very good, a little spicier than you would expect from a non-texmex joint. Steak had a good flavor and was cooked as ordered. Kids loved the big thick slices of texas toast(so did I to be honest). The table setup felt a little cramped. I’m a big guy but even the staff had to squeeze a little to get around my 6 year old.

Lackadaisical would have been my word of choice; however, that was prior to some recent changes. I just hope they can knock their staff in line. On to my 5 star review. We decided to give Trail Dust a chance for Father’s Day because, well, I am a great father and wanted my two boys to enjoy the massive slide. I was ready for a sub-par dining experience and, I almost got it. When we arrived, we were told there would be a 15 minute wait. It was 11:30 on a Sunday morning and we had decided to get a jump on lunch so it would not be crowded. It was not crowded at all. So, I asked the girl what the hold up might be and she informed me that they were short on servers. I told my wife I was going to step over to Saltgrass to see if we could get a table. The boys had already gone down the slide a few times, so I figured we were good. Before I could get to Saltgrass(same parking area on the other side of Steak-n-Shake), my wife called to inform me we were being seated. Frustrated, I walked back to Trail Dust. I was certain we would receive lousy service due to the lack of staff. However, once I returned and found my party of 6, we received very prompt and courteous service. The manager came by and apologized and informed us he had 5 no-shows that morning. He also eluded to the fact he had intentions of taking actions to ensure it did not happen again. He was professional about the whole thing and I understood the position he had been placed by his staff. Beyond the service(which was great), let me tell you about the food. We started with the stuffed mushrooms. These aren’t your typical stuffed mushrooms. They are more like fried mushrooms with cream cheese and other ingredients with the mushroom inside the fried ball. Creamy, tasty, and worth the trip for the mushrooms alone. I personally ordered the 20oz. Porterhouse cooked«on the rare side of medium rare» and explained that I prefer rare; however, I do like a little char here and there. They executed my request perfectly. I figured I would get the Porterhouse and a to-go box for later, but the steak was so tender and juicy, before I knew it, I had eaten the entire thing. The manager came back around and I gloated over the perfection of the Porterhouse and he informed me that he had just switched companies and was buying a better grade of beef and that he had changed his seasoning mix. It was perfection on a plate. The filet side of the Porterhouse could be cut with a fork and melted in my mouth. I am usually not a fan of strip steaks(I consider them the chicken breast of beef due to their lack of fat and tendency to be dry). Such was not the case. The strip side of my Porterhouse was juicy, easy to cut, and a delight to consume. If you have not been to Trail Dust in a while, I would strongly encourage you to give them another try. I just hope these positive changes continue and stick around for a long, long, time.

This place has really gone way down hill from the last time I came here — years ago. The staff couldn’t care less about customer service. The food is really just fair to midland at best. Not my idea of a good place to eat.

Love bringing the kids here for lunch on the weekend! They have a very relaxed family atmosphere. And you can’t go wrong with the $ 9.99 Maverick Sirloin with a loaded baked potato… the steaks always have great flavor and are perfectly cooked. It does take a while for the food to come out though, but we never come here in a rush or when we’re starving. We come to spend time with family, let the kids play on the slide, and really just to enjoy ourselves. Also, the prices on the kid’s meals are pretty steep. For $ 6.99 kids get their choice of a hamburger, grilled cheese, mini corn dogs, or chicken fingers. So for just another $ 1.00, we let both of our kids get their own steaks, too… and they love them just as much as the slide!

Traildust is a very average place at best. Came here for lunch in February and had the Duke burger, with bacon. At a cost of $ 11.50, very pricey for something not very special. A few week ago we came for lunch and when we were seated, they had water dripping from the ceiling. I ordered the Lunch 8oz bandit ribeye, but was told they were out. Two time I have been here for lunch and never busy. As I was looking for option number two, the sprinkler system burst, and everyone was asked to leave. We headed to Saltgrass and had a great lunch.

If you’re looking for a very casual Texas style country steakhouse with great tasting wood-fire grilled meat, you found it! It’s been around for years and everything is pretty consistent: great service, good food, and pretty reasonable prices. The 20oz Porterhouse steak was super tender and delicious… but there was a little too much fat on this cut for my taste. I’d ask for it to be trimmed off next time. Bottom line: it’s a casual place to get great wood-fire grilled meat and a great meal for the whole family.

I’m from Chicago, and this was my first«Texas steakhouse» experience. I see a lot of bad reviews, so I’m not sure how this joint compares to other steakhouses like this. This review will be strictly off of how good it was compared to other steaks I have had(lawrys, Texas de Brazil, fogo de chao etc.) We started off with stuffed jalapeños, which were unbearably spicy. These things were spicier than ghost chilis. They were so spicy to the point where I ran to the bathroom and drowned my face in water. If u like spicy, try em. The salad I had was decent but a lot of cheap iceberg lettuce, but that’s not what you come here for, right? Now to the good stuff. I got a porterhouse with a shrimp skewer and fries with ranch. Medium. The porterhouse came medium, just like I asked, and was juicy and extremely flavorful. The shrimp tasted fresh and well seasoned and grilled. The fries were the best fries I have ever had, freshly cut, and the ranch was creamy and rich, ain’t no hidden valley crap. They have this slide in the middle of the restaurant that is extremely entertaining for the kids, and the drunk adults(after about 9:30). Finally, for desert we had the chocolate pudding cake. It wasn’t the lightest but it was flavorful and rich and came with three scoops of Ice cream! I don’t know how this place compares to other Texas steakhouses, but in my opinion, it was AUTHENTICANDAMAZING.

Trail Dust is in fact the only local steak joint that has existed since the 1970’s in this area. It’s over priced BIG time. Live music included a great selection of songs and a talented artist, but it was just way too loud. In the two hours we spent there it was a welcome relief when the guy stopped singing. After a Dallas Cowboys game had to wait 1 hour for a table for 4, then another hour for food. The steak plates are savagely overpriced at $ 25 each. My Sister-In-Law visiting from Japan didn’t even finish half her steak and I now feel embarrassed about picking this place. I appreciate the local culture and this older thing that ya’ll Dallas people have going on, but a $ 25 plate that takes 2 hours(We dropped almost $ 200 here) with a piece of meat that is mediocre at best? We enjoyed the experience, but… Nah!
