I came here when this place had just been open for a few days and keep coming back. The owner is so kind and enthusiastic about the place! Food is fresh and veeeeeeery reasonably priced. Great quick dinner after a long day at work.

Their food is amazing! Small place but don’t let it fool you — they do a great job with their tabbouleh! And you get a large portion unlike other places that I’ve been to. Their food is all made to order and not frozen– it’s all fresh. Good quality food… I’ve recommended it to my friends and family and now they are regulars here. Since becoming a vegetarian it’s difficult to find a place to grab a quick bite & this is definitely the place to go– they are pretty fast. Or if you want to watch your weight or trying to loose weight this is where you want to go get a healthy meal!

Such a lovely little place! The service is speedy and the food was ! And I don’t use for just any good food. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with a side of two falafels. They mad no fuss about adding the side and also were very polite and didn’t even charge me for an extra side of tuna pickle. The chicken was moist and flavorful, the rice was perfect, the hummus was mmmm!!! Even the side salad was great. The serving size is huge so it’s definitely shareable. In addition to all this the meal comes with bread and dipping sauces. A+ :))

I visited the place today. The owner was super nice and the food was sooooo Yamy. I ordered chicken plate with Falafel, I love it. Nice rice and delicious chicken, and on the top of that the plate is huge. I will be in LA for the next few days and I’ll make sure I’ll come again before going back to Connecticut.

This place is down the street from work and I have to stop by at least once a week! I never get tired of their mouth watering falafel sandwich. It’s perfect for lunch, tasty and filling but not too heavy either. The owners are always welcoming and friendly too. If it’s your first time, they will make you a falafel sample to try! That’s just how awesome they are. Give them a shot and I guarantee you will leave happy. I know I will next week :)

Wow what a surprise the yummy food that comes out of this small family spot! The rice is delicious without the chicken stock and super soft, moist falafels! This is going to be my favorite VEGAN friendly Mediterranean place!!!

Let me start out by saying that it takes a lot to get me to write a Unilocal review. You either have to seriously offend me or gross me out to get me to write a bad review. True story. Yes, I know it’s a lengthy novel of a review, but you will thank me later. I promise. This review is strictly for the cleanliness and customer service aspect. Generally, I’m happy with the quality of food at Falafel Shack. Their food is good. I’ve met the owner before and she’s a really nice lady. However, I saw several health code violations this evening. We went to get take-out from Falafel Shack this evening. Nothing out of the ordinary at first, until I saw the grungy looking guy with greasy hair cooking behind the counter. Here’s why I’m writing this review: — Grungy Guy was cooking and kept running his hands through his greasy, somewhat long hair. It’s long enough where he should be wearing a hat or hairnet to keep it out of his face and prevent it from falling into food or prep areas. He also touched his face a few times. — He started to assemble a shawarma sandwich without washing his hands after repeatedly touching his hair and didn’t wear gloves. Then, he licked both index fingers, and continued to assemble the shawarma sandwich. I was really grossed out at this point. Although it turned out that he was making a sandwich for himself, I still didn’t take any comfort in that fact. I wish I had the health inspector on speed dial. For real tho’, he was making a sandwich like he was kicking it at home. –He began to eat his sandwich behind the counter and food is coming out of his mouth because he’s talking to the other workers while he’s eating. If you’ve ever been to Falafel Shack, you know it’s a small space. So the likelihood of him getting his already-been-chewed food into your food is pretty high. Mind you, he’s also eating near the vegetables being prepped in the sink and leaning on the counter tops. –Some guy who I assume works at Domino’s next door comes in to say what’s up(he’s holding a Domino’s hat in his hand), shakes Grungy Guy’s hand in a prolonged hand shake. Yup. Even more exchange of germs at this point. Again, no hand washing. –Grungy Guy finally finishes his shawarma sandwich and wipes his hands on his plaid shirt. Again, HEDIDNOTWASHHISHANDS and is still touching his greasy hair. He leans back on the counter top and his butt touches the edge of the counter surface. Then, to top it off, he touches one of the containers on the counter. Seriously, Grungy Guy, I’ve seen better manners from a preschooler. The only reason we didn’t ask for a refund was because another guy made our food. Props to the guy in the white shirt with a beard and ‘stache for wearing a hat, and for wearing gloves while making our food. But chances are, Grungy Guy has already contaminated everything in the prep and cooking areas because he doesn’t seem to be a big fan of washing his hands or taking a bath. Customers are always watching. Downtime at work is cool, but not at the expense of your customers. It’s a really bad reflection on your business when your employees are sloppy. Although I like their food, we’re not likely to come back due to their lack of health standards and cleanliness. I also hope that the third dude who was working that shift washed his hands after he came back from hanging out with the Domino’s employee outside. Saw him just wiping his hands on his apron as we walked past them in the parking lot, but he was also cooking and prepping food inside.

Holy mother of cow, this place is a gem. It’s a small local shop near a 7 – 11, and it’s easy to miss. I didn’t expect much and came here on a whim. It was just one of those days after work where I didn’t care what to eat. And damn, I’m so glad that I went here. The falafel sandwiches are to die for! It’s the one of the better falafel sandwiches that I’ve tasted. The sandwich itself is pretty big, so it makes a decent dent in the stomach. Also, the shawarma sandwiches and dishes are great. The tahili sauce that goes on the sandwiches is excellent. I talked to the one of the workers(Manwell I think) and owners(JJ), and they’re pretty awesome. Very accommodating and easy to talk to. They make sure the order is done in a timely manner and are respectful to the customers. And now, I’ve been here like 4 times… and I still plan on coming here.

Super friendly staff! They have everything cook at the same time to ensure everything is fresh, however it takes 10 – 15 min to be ready. Highly recommend to call before hand if you are in a hurry, however it’s nice and comfortable to just sit and hang. Staff is super friendly, they offered free samples to customers doesn’t matter you’re a first time customer or not;) And the food… It was worth the wait !!!

Love this place! First time here today and I was immediately given a sample of both the hummus and the falafel! I ordered the shack special and I know I will not be disappointed! The down side is that it is a pretty small location but the wait was not long at all the food is freshly are to order! The owner and cook are so friendly! I know for sure I will be back and I encourage everyone to try this place! I’m so glad I tried it!

How is this place getting good reviews? Seriously? Had a craving for falafel and this place had great reviews.(Seriously, what are you all smoking?) We walk in and it’s a tiny place. Not a bad thing, some of the best places I’ve been to were no bigger than a closet. Here, there were three small rubber maid tables and 4 plastic party chairs. It wasn’t uncomfortable, until you realize you’re either awkwardly pressed up against the glass at the stove or you’re right in your neighbor’s convo about how her Mother wishes she were never born. First, the guy who helped us had poor hygiene. He touched everything while making our food and when he actually brought it, his BO made me lose my appetite. Second, the poor food safety was obvious. There were cut turnips on the counter, strewn about or sitting in a bucket half submerged in liquid. Other ingredients were just sitting there, on the counter, at room temperature. Third, why do you have a rotating spit if you don’t use it? The chicken schwarma was just marinated sautéed chicken. Fourth, the hummus had no flavor. If I had to pick a flavor to describe it would be olive oil, because that’s all I could taste. The falafel was dry but it wasn’t terrible. The only thing that was good was the tabouleh salad. This place is a no. Please, go somewhere else and eat good food. You deserve better.

They gave me a sample as soon as I came in the door, delicious. I got a falafel sandwhich for under six bucks and got it in five minutes. It was awesome. Huge sandwich wrapped in pita or flatbread. It was very balanced. Everything complemented everything. The fresh veggies, garlic bite if the tahini(or hummus), it had hummus, the falafel was still crispy, and there was a slight spice due to the hot sauce. The sandwhich was juicy yet crispy from the falafel which provided a beautiful textural contrast. I’m not a connoisseur of this type of food(Mediterranean? Greek?). All I know is that it was tasty. I love seeing how kitchens work. I was able to see the pots and pans they used as well as their honing rod and knives. This place is essentially a foodie’s wet dream. The place is small and is ironically a shack. Well, not really a shack but a small store between the Dominoes and 711. They have lawnchairs and beerpong tables for the dining area. And this place looks like it can seat about seven. Great for a quick bite. They have a special. Buy two falafel sandwhiches and get another one for a dollar. Same price as a large pizza, feeds the same amount of people, and is infinitely better.

Great falafels that are fried fresh! The shack is definitely the place to go for falafels. As for the rest of the menu I’ve tried, they were just okay. I noticed that the meats were pre-cooked during the time I came in(approximately 3pm) and re-heated on the grill to order. Still good though. I got the shack spacial, beef shwarma, and extra falafels. I wasn’t very into the meats, but wow… those falafels!!! I’m pretty particular with them since I make a mean homemade fried ball of goodness myself. Those are reasonably priced while everything else can get a little up there. Regardless, it’s a good little addition to the area and I would return for some of their falafels. Phoned in, of course! The wait can get super lengthy.

The smallest falafel shack I have ever been too! It’s a to go restaurant, but there are 3 two person tables you can sit at. It has a total mom and pop shop feel. I was greeted at the counter by a lovely cashier who gave us free falafel samples! We ordered the august, special, tabouleh and the falafel sandwich. The august special is $ 10 and gives you the option of grilled beef or chicken, salad, pilaf rice and hummus. It comes with 2 falafels, a soda or water and 2 pieces of Pita bread on the side. It’s a pretty sweet deal. Everything was freshly made and had that home cooked taste. The tabouleh was very refreshing with the right amount of dressing. I wasn’t a fan of the falafel sandwich. The falafels at the location are perfectly crispy and tasty, but it feels like too many different textures in one sandwich. All of the flavors at one turned into a mess in my mouth. The fries that came with the sandwich were ordinary and made to order. I would love to come back and buy the dozen of falafels just by itself.

$ 5.99 for a dozen falafel! Crispy on the outside and yummy in the inside. No restroom :( I always knock a star out for no restroom cause how can a restaurant not have a bathroom? How can you eat with dirty hands? Other than that, food is bomb. So do take-out and eat with clean hands :)

It’s falafelicious! A co-worker asked me recently if I had ever eaten at Falafel Shack. I wasn’t even aware of it. He told me how delicious the falafel sandwich was and that I should give it a try. After seeing rave reviews on Unilocal I made a point of going for lunch a few days later. When I first drove up to this tiny hole-in-the-wall I had my doubts. It’s so small inside there is no place to sit and eat — it is definitely a place to get your food to-go. I ordered the falafel sandwich, very reasonably priced. As I waited, the sweet woman at the register asked if this was my first visit which I replied affirmatively. She then gave me a complimentary falafel to try while I was waiting for my sandwich. It was perfect crispness on the outside and soft and tasty on the inside. I knew I was going to like my sandwich! She also handed me a menu to take with me so that next time I could order ahead of time and not have to wait. But the wait wasn’t so bad — less than 5 minutes. I took my sandwich back to the office. The 3 falafels were wrapped in pita bread and covered in tahini sauce. There were also onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce and pickled turnip inside. It was surprisingly delicious although a bit messy — be careful if you decide to eat it in your car! I noticed they sell a dozen falafels for $ 6. which is a deal I think I’ll try next time I visit.

I love Falafels! What is a Falafel you ask, well, it’s a deep fried ball or patty from ground chickpea and it’s delicious. My first encounter with this vegetarian ball of goodness was years ago. but that first encounter made me a fan. Falafel Shack is tiny. It’s sandwiched between 7 Eleven and Domino’s Pizza. They only have 3 major things on their menu; Beef Shawerma, Chicken Shawerma & Yes, Falafels. They fry(re-fry) the falafel as you wait. The sandwich came with hummus, lettuce, cucumber pickles, pickled turnip, tomato, onions, 3 pieces of falafel and tahini suace, all rolled into a pita bread. I’ve had my share of falafel and this one was by far one of the better ones. The outer crust was still firm while the inside was fluffy soft. Very tasty by itself, but with the tahini sauce was super good. I liked that they didn’t drown it in tahini sauce too, just the right amount. The other condiments really enhances the taste of the sandwich. It’s delicious and very filling. They offer a hot sauce, make sure you ask for at least two because that hot sauce is good. It’s mildly hot but the heat doesn’t interfere with the flavor of the falafel sandwich. Service was fast and friendly. Like I said, I am a big fan of falafel and I’m definitely a big fan of Falafel Shack!
