Imagine a typical shopping center. Imagine a typical restaurant stuck behind one of the walls of said shopping center. Imagine the flourescent lights, the plastic tables, the so-so food. Now, visit Guadalajara, & throw all your preconceptions out the bell-ringing-upon-entrance door. As a Texan who lived in Mexico, I feel I have a right to judge Mexican food. Maybe that’s arrogant of me, but it’s also arrogant of me to have a website dedicated to my personal opinion. Yet, you’re still reading this, so we’ll proceed with the judgment. They’re cheap. They’re friendly. They’re efficient. Perfect for an intimate date or a group of raucous friends, there’s nothing bad to say about this spot. Hole-in-the-wall, authentic, delicious — just do your tastebuds a favor & go.

Guadalajara is one of the hidden, tasty treats of Asheville. If you don’t know where it is, you don’t run across it. Even though it is right across the street from the Asheville Mall, you still wouldn’t find it… Since the early 90s, this place has been offering up some pretty authentic and CHEAP Mexican food. If you are looking for basic Mexican fare, chips and salsa served while you are looking at the menu and a good place for groups – this is the place. There is not anything I wouldn’t recommend, so I’ll save time and space by just saying: Yes. It’s all good. My favorites: tacos with ground beef(simple and amazing) and the enchiladas. Wonderful.
