I haven’t been in a Pier 1 Imports since middle school and all I remember about it is that is has a lot of stuff. Anyways, I came here because my friend suggested I stop by to find a gift I was hoping to get my other friend as a housewarming gift. Here’s the pro: they have some cute stuff that will make good housewarming gifts for under 20 bucks. It seems like they’re really trying to make trendy stuff so there’s aprons and oven mittens that look like anthropologie ones but arent as cute and aren’t as good quality wise. There are some cute gift sets but the margarita classes and wine glasses looked dirty. And of course, there’s just a lot of random stuff. Here’s the con: For a place that advertises that they sell things that would be passable as wedding gifts(yes, there was a sign that says«Makes great wedding gifts!»), their gift wrapping options and gift giving in general suck. I asked if they had any boxes to put the present in… they said no. Then some woman who wasn’t even my cashier asked me if I had looked at their gift bags. I said, yes, but I didn’t like any of them. I asked if I could have some of the manilla tissue paper that they usually wrap glasses/cups in. The cashier then attempts to wrap up my present in the paper. but by the time I realized it, it was already too late. And the real kicker is… I specially asked for a gift receipt and the cashier failed to produce one. He blamed it on the system, asked the other cashier who just said«well, we’d give store credit for gift receipts anyways so i don’t think you need one». Well well, isn’t the point of a gift receipt so that the price on the gift receipt is what my friend would get back if she happened to not like my present(versus whatever price they will eventually mark this down to)? I was too tired to argue. ‘ All in all I was not impressed with the service of this place. I know Crate and Barrel is more expensive, but at least they wrap up everything really well(and if it’s a present, they’ll box it for you for free). Plus, their stuff(and anthropologies) is definetly cuter.
