Coffee is okay, but the martinis are strong. Nothing great, but a pretty decent place to grab a drink before a movie at Atlantic Station.

I’ve been spending a lot of time in coffee shops recently on account of numerous GMAT cramming sessions. My normal spot is Octane on the Westside. So the bar is set pretty high. The day after Christmas Octane was closed so I hit PJ’s in Atlantic Station. I asked for a 16 oz cup of joe and I received a small coffee. There was no way the cup was 16 oz. It was less then $ 2. But refills were $ 1. So basically I spend almost $ 3 on a plain cup of joe. That’s loco. Here is the knife in the heart for me, PJ’s doesn’t have any wifi service. It’s almost 2009 and I think all coffee shops should have free wifi or at a minimum a fee based wireless service. Come on PJ call Ripple(they can offer it at a great price and I bet you will gain customers). The place is cozy(One extra star) but I don’t recommend PJ’s unless you are trapped in Atlantic Station and really need a cup of joe. Atlantic Station also has a Starbucks… maybe next time I’ll go there.

Was not used to PJ’s having alcohol. Looks like it’s a good take, people seem to enjoy the coffe/bar feel. Also did not know there have a DJ thursday nights, prob weekends as well. Music playing wasn’t my cup of tea, but I can see the atmosphere value. I always find it odd when I order/request something, and the salesperson responds, «are you SURE??» Um. yeah. I’m sure. Got the vanilla velvet chill — didn’t last as long as I hoped, but essentially what I expected. Nice and chilly.

One of the best concepts that I picked up out of Atlanta is the wine and coffee lounge business. This is one of the greatest ideas ever where you have a choice of a cocktail or coffee. It is a great date spot or just a place to hang out and enjoy sports games on the overhead TVs. Because the venue is quite small, it is difficult to walk around, but easy to meet strangers and engage in random conversation from sports to life. The crowd is well mixed with vibrant college kids to chilled-out 60s kids. The ambiance and atmosphere is superb and the menu is simple. They do have a variety of top shelf liquors. I ordered a Toffee Cream with Espresso. The service is quite slow if it is a busy night(which it was). And when my coffee arrived, I was pretty disappointed b/c it wasn’t filled to the brim. I felt cheated. The crowd was great and that is what I enjoyed the most.

Definitely a cool spot that I am not sure many ppl know about… in fact i think its a little bit slept on. This PJ’s has a a great cozy vibe to it. A perfect place for ppl watching, having a drink, an intimate evening, or just bringing the laptop to get some work done. In our case it was for a quick meeting. Decided I would try one of their sandwiches… dont remember the name of the sandwich, or anything about it, but I do know that it was good. I too, like the fact that you can get coffee or an alcoholic beverage here. I think on Tuesdays, they have the buy 1 get 1 free happy hour. Havent been to it yet… but I guess i need to get there!

LMAO… I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get Deanna’s experience of the guy in spandex stretching between sips of coffee. I may be one of the rare people that had a nice experience here. Hanging out with friends we head into PJs for a little break. To my surprise PJ wasn’t upset that we entered the store, took up a table and talked for 30 minutes to an hour without ordering a thing. Not being my first time here I have tried a cappucino, and it was quite tastie. The customer service was a delight. It is great for a low key evening with friends chatting over good times, I would also recommend it as a nice date night place, they offer a romantic ambiance at night.

A strange place. Saw a guy in spandex doing stretches in between sips of coffee. Now when I say strange.. . doesn’t necessarily mean ‘bad.’ I’ve mainly been here during the day and it’s more like ‘fascinating’ in terms of the ranndom people that come in and out(hmm. but i guess if I’m there too, then I count as random. hmm.) Definitely falls more to the ‘intermezzo’ side of coffee shops. Somewhere I definitely don’t mind going if I happen to be around here, and bonus that you can get your coffee with a side of chardonnay!

Perhaps it’s the snooty intellectual in me but whenever I think of coffeehouses, I think of caffeine and quality conversation; this place lacks both, at least after nightfall. It’s a café that thinks it’s a club with too little space for either function. Pros: Décor: Plush sofas, dim lighting and rich colors make the place comfortable and trendy without attracting too many posers pre-nightfall. Location: Before your movie starts, this is a nice place to pass the time at Atlantic Station. Music: DJs usually spin a good mix of house, R&B, Soul and independent artists. Cons: Space: Too small. You want to sit on those plush couches? Try getting those three girls with their too-tight shoes to stop nursing their drinks and leave. Oh, and don’t forget the couple at the bar; they’ve been staring at that couch for an hour. Get ready to fight for seats. Atmosphere: The pretentiousness hits astronomical levels on the weekends after 10:00PM. Pro/Con(Depending on your intentions) Music: Too loud once PJs goes into«club mode.» Don’t try to get to know someone here, you won’t hear them. I only take a date here if I *know* he does not have anything important to say.

First Pj’s we went to was in Marietta. I didn’t realize it was a chain. they have one at Atlantic station. Last time we went the waiter could care less about us. we ordered water and never got it. everything else came but not the water. you almost had to physically grab just to get her to look at you. we ordered a bailey’s cheesecake because they were out of cookies. I expected it to be terrible. but it was actually pretty good. I’d rather go to Café intermezzo.

PJ’s thoroughly impressed me last night. Parched from a long, rambling, and fantastic early evening drive around town in my boyfriend’s old school 80’s imported convertible and mildly sick with a sore throat and nasal congestion, we stopped in so that I could«get a beverage», which ended up being not one but two large coffees to go, as an adorably overeager extra bariston filled my order before, and in addition to, the one who had rung up our order(which also included hot tea for my beau). The seating is sparse but luxurious, and we snagged plush seats by the door and sipped to techno beats and with a pleasant view of the bar. As someone who likes being in «trendy bars» but doesn’t necessarily want to drink, PJ’s seems to be a perfect pre– or post-movie venue(being located directly across from the Regal Cinema) as well as a destination in itself.

I stopped in here on a rainy afternoon for a cup of coffee. It was crowded, but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The guy working the bar, who I think was a manager or at least upper level staff, was great. He was really friendly and went the extra mile to make suggestions and give good service. I tried to order some kind of fancy coffee, non-fat, and they told me that it was pre-mixed, so they could not use skim milk, but suggested an alternative with a similar flavor. My bf asked for a recommendation on a cocktail and they served him up something he’d never had… a version of Long Island Ice Tea with real tea in it and I’m sure some other twists. It’s nice to have a knowledgeable staff. When it cleared out a bit, we were able to grab a spot on the couch and it was a pleasant place to hang out and relax with a cup.

It just makes good business sense for bars to open during the day for coffee, tea and such and for coffee shops to serve wine and cocktails at night. PJ’s has figured this out. While I have no idea what this Atlantic Station spot looks like at night I can tell you that during the day the bar makes for a fine place to get a little work done on your lappy. Wifi is strong though the hot chocolate is a bit too sweet for my taste. No comment on the coffee, as I didn’t try it.

PJ s day or night which I think is fabulous! Let’s go shopping and voila, grab some coffee at PJs to keep the pep in our step or get a pastry if we’re feeling dangerous and talking about dangerous… PJs is also open late night. DJs, martinis being poured, comfy couches to get cozzy on… Mmmmm love it!!! It’s a very intimate low key vibe but at the same time it’s hoppin till about 2 or 3 am. Awesome and not to mention if you do feel like roaming around you can always step outside to the court yard or hop over to Strip or anywhere else if you really feel the need to. I honestly can’t reccomend anything because i’ve dabbled in it all here and you can’t go wrong whatever you try. It’s great during the day to chill from the hustle and bustle of shopping or work on your lap top or check it out at night to get your mingle on and have a couple of drinks and lounge with your friends. I’m so glad they created Atlantic Station and then put PJs right there in it. Fabulous!!! lol

One of my favorite places to grab coffee in midtown. It’s a bit ridiculous though that they card on Friday and Saturday nights… but it is a bar as well as a coffee lounge. The trendy, mood lit lounge is perfect for couples to cozy up on leather sofas or swoo under the lamp lit bar. The décor isn’t overwhelming, just a few sheer curtains strung behind 3 flat panel telivisions. The white chocolate flaked cheese cakes are delicious as well as the bruchetta with giant slices of mozzarella topped on whole wheat bread slices. I have yet to order a drink here, but the coffee is well balanced and served hot and fresh. The young trendy bartender also gives you the option to serve your drink in a mug if you are dinning in — the little things people do to cut down on unnecessary trash!

PJs has served the purposes I’ve used it for well. One: — A quick cup of coffee or hot cocoa in the middle of the day or when I am randomly at Atlantic Station.(Never tried to get one at night) Two: — A place to kill time before going to a movie across the street at Atlantic Station’s movie theater. The only other options on a busy Friday night are to pretend to shop for wine at The Grape or stand behind people at the bar at Strip and hope your drink order comes out before the previews are over. Three: — A place for informal business meetings. Nice, safe place to meet potential clients or to discuss your next multi-million dollar move. Four: — A sweet snack after eating a meal somewhere else. I like it and I am actually glad to see something different in Atlantic Station when they could have just put up another better known chain coffeehouse.

The service and quality of coffee here was exactly what I should have expected from a Raving Brands Mcdonald’s-esque coffee house concept. It may look pretty, but it lacks the functionality that even espresso carts on the street have. I’m referring to their policy of not serving coffee in a to-go cup to customers later in the evening. When I walked in and wanted to get a cup of coffee to walk around Atlantic Station, I was told that they stop serving to-go drinks in the afternoon. I asked why they even bother with having them during the day if they won’t offer them at night. The response was that I was welcome to put my name on the waiting list for a table and come back for coffee later. Choosing to not serve customers when you have a coffee counter and paper cups that are functional for two thirds of the day doesn’t make you upscale or chic, it just looks silly.

This place is a coffee house? You could have fooled me. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in a lounge with dimmed lighting, plush velvet couches and seating with background music. PJ’s Coffee of New Orleans is not your average coffee house. The ambiance is extremely relaxed and comfortable and the décor is urban and chic. They serve coffee, tea, wine, pastries and other comfort foods. You have to go but I wouldn’t recommend studying or doing work, this place is more for lunging and a nice romantic date. They have a nice location in Atlantic Station.
