A very large atmosphere, nicely decorated. Quick service, friendly waitress — decent food. We had lunch, they presented a menu with good variety. We ordered a Cobb salad, Steak burger with Kale salad and appetizer Fried Green Tomatoes. All came within 15 minutes. Fresh, but not the most tasty. Fried Green Tomatoes didn’t have enough flavor, was crispy though. Steak burger was as requested, medium rare, pretty good but needed something to make it pop. Salad was exactly as it should be. Overall, a place with potential but competition is rough at that location. Better than a lot of the restaurants near there tho, I’ve tried most of them.

I love the ambience at Smash Kitchen & Bar. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite date night places. They offer a solid cocktail list(I am a fan of the Brookhaven Mule) and several southern style dishes with a gourmet twist. The Deviled Eggs appetizer is a board of perfection: bacon, house made pickles, and Atlanta’s ubiquitous pimento cheese all done to the highest level. My husband digs their flatbreads(generous portion) and the Southern Cobb Salad is gigantic and delicious. Brunch is also offered on Sundays. The Fat Smash Biscuit is probably my favorite brunch item of anywhere, ever.(Open faced with grilled hangar steak, fried egg, bacon, queso, lettuce, tomato, fried onions, SKB cheddar biscuit.) It can get a little busy and a few times my water and soda refills were neglected. Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant.

The location, ambiance and décor are the biggest pluses for this restaurant. I have visited several times since we live in the neighborhood but the food, while ok in a predictable way, is generally underwhelming. I had lunch there recently with a friend and we ordered the Caesar and Kale salads. She added salmon to her Caesar and I added shrimp to mine. Proteins for both were cooked as ordered and the service was attentive without being overly disruptive. Where the wheels came off was the crab cake. Billed as Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, there was nothing jumbo about it. At 2 inches in diameter and not quite a half an inch thick in the thickest part, the SINGLE crab cake can hardly be described as «jumbo» and was more an appetizer size portion. At $ 18, the dish was way over-priced. It would actually serve the restaurant well if a second cake was added for a $ 21 or $ 22 price tag. Just saying. Update: Yes, so someone from Smash wrote to tell me that Jumbo refers to type of meat and not size. Great. My response: you might want to add an asterisk in the menu to that effect; especially to the non-crab cake aficionado. Still 2-stars because there are places in the area with similar price points and genre with a better combination of service/signature dishes, etc.

Decided on a humble to try the establishment to kill try and the free wifi. Atmosphere was unique in that it can satisfy a date night as well as a casual bite to eat with friends. The menu was interesting as I decided to take a try on the shrimp and grits. The star of the day toe was the drinks. I had Te cold and cloudy and it did not disappoint. Very flavorful with the ginger not overpowering the drink. I had(3) and the drinks were very consistent and well balanced. The shrimp and grits were good and I see how they tried to put their spin on it. However, the sauce is very very rich and in my opinion there is too much on the plate. It kind of overpowers the meal. Would I order this again yes I would but I would ask for half the sauce. Service– service was excellent, I was seated quickly and received a lot of attention Worth the trip and price point

Visited for a late dinner on a Saturday night and found this place really underwhelming. It’s a great location, the décor and layout are well done, however the lighting and menu were not. One tiny light overhead was all that we had to read the menu; had to turn on the light in my camera to read it. This would have been fine for a lounge, not a restaurant booth. The entrée choices were sparse and overpriced — ~$ 25 for a flat iron steak — so I decided I’d opt for a burger, except the ONLY choice was listed ‘chefs creation’ at «market price»? WHAT?! I settled on something called a truck stop chicken sandwich, and I’d asked for the ‘queso’ on the side, which didn’t happen. The chicken was very good, once I took it off the sandwich and scraped off the sauce, and the side salad was a generous portion and a variety of vegetables which I enjoyed. All in all it was fine, not good, and id be hard pressed to find a reason to try it again.

Great Looking menu, neat location in a fairly new development. They offer outdoor dining which was part of the appeal. I was excited to see a field pea salad on the menu, I asked to waitress what was on the salad other than the description on the menu. She told me that was it. So imagine my surprise when the salad came out covered in tiny diced onions. I was so disappointed. The manager came around to ask how everything was, and I told her– she took the salad off the bill. We also ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes, and my dining companion said they were the best he’d ever eaten. For dinner I had the margherita pizza, and I asked for them to go light on the tomatoes. The pizza was excellent, but I picked a lot of tomatoes off that bad boy. The other entrée was the trout with fried okra. It was meh– and the okra wasn’t cooked. Overall the meal was a bit of a bummer.

I can’t agree with some of the other reviews. we thought we would pick somewhere differnt to eat out for my Birthday instead of eating in roswell and alpharetta. So we choose Smash. My husband and I had the green tomatoes for an appetizer which was really good. However we both had ribs for dinner which was dry and hardly any meat on the bone. I had collard greens and fried okra. Both of those were good. My daughter had fried chicken with Mac and cheese. She said the mac and cheese was ok. I am not sure we will give this place another try. We also had there muddled drinks — we both thought they were good but not outstanding. Our waiter had very good manners and we were impressed by his service.

This place is awesome! Try the wood fire flatbread as a light appetizer. It was delicious. I ordered the burger special and was not disappointed. It reminded me of something off of Man vs Food piled high with thick flavorful bacon, brisket, cheese and a fried egg. My girlfriend ordered the crab cake and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you’re unsure of what to order just ask the wait staff. Wendy is the best!

My gorgeous wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner here recently. She ordered the lump crab cake and I tried the mountain trout. Both were delicious! Service was great as usual. I take clients to lunch here at least once a month. I have never had a bad experience at Smash Kitchen. Keep up the great work!

Town Brookhaven is such a convenient shopping center. I went to LA Fitness for a quick but hard workout while my friend shopped at Publix and we met up at Smash. We sat at the bar to get closer access to the bartender and alcohol. There were no specials at 6:45, but that didn’t deter us from ordering drinks and food. The bartender told us everything is good, with his favorite being the Blackburn Smash(which I avoided since I don’t like bourbon) and to avoid the Peachtree Smash cocktail(«it’s just NOT a good drink») so I ordered the Oglethorpe Smash. It was sweet and tasted heavily of the basil and cucumber. We ended up ordering simple bar food to munch on instead of entrees. We got the Spinach Artichoke Dip and a side order of Shoe String Fries. The spinach artichoke dip was a little greasy and soggy in consistency for me and so were the chips, but it went well with the alcohol and I couldn’t stop eating it. The shoe string fries were well seasoned, as well as the perfect combination of crispy and soggy. The only thing that I would have wanted more out of these fries were more of the fries. I would definitely like the chance to come back to order some real food here, but in the mean time, Smash is a good spot to stop for a drink and some appetizers, if not a full meal.

Overall, great experience. Our service was phenomenal. I forgot his name, but I really liked our server. My favorite part of the meal was the Butternut Squash Soup. OMG! It was so good. The deviled eggs were also great, and better than you expect I had the pork shank which was good. It’s a great place to go and conveniently located in the Brookhaven Square! I think you will be pleased with just about anything on the menu!

Dear HTS, You won me over with this one. Why? The amazing Grown Up Grilled Cheese. STFD. Like a good grilled cheese(if not, go straight to jail, do not pass go)? Then get this one. Gruyère, Fontina, roasted tomatoes, thick TX toast style bread. Basically, awesomeness in sandwich form. I might have to try the other one — it does have bacon– but you, GUGC, you have my heart. We had a friends birthday dinner here not too long ago. Our server was Cord and he was wonderful. It was very important that everything went seamlessly especially because this is a big birthday year for my friend. We sat in the back room that accommodated about 15 of us. We started with bottles of champagne and wine, all from Cord’s suggestions. All of the wine pairings that he recommended were spot on and accompanied each dish perfectly. All of our food came out on time(fried green tomatoes were the bomb) and we didn’t feel rushed or bothered. We also had charcuterie plate and pretzel sticks to start which they serve with beer cheese and mustard. My ceasar salad was dressed well but the salmon I added was really dry. I didn’t send it back since everyone seemed happy and full from appetizers. The Mac n cheese was also a bit dry and far from a favorite but that’s really the only criticism I can offer, I really think the atmosphere and staff is what made our experience so great. Thanks Cord and staff for a classy evening, because of you, everyone from our party will be back. Cheers

I decided to dine here on a Saturday night around 8pm. It was busy, but the hostess told us that we just missed the busy and long waits earlier. FOOD: — Skillet-Fried Chicken || two HUGE pieces of fried golden brown(almost) boneless juicy chicken breasts, mac & cheese, and a light southern slaw. The chicken is juicy and not dry at all during the entire meal. The chicken skin is very addicting. It was very crispy and not oily at all. I did realized that it was a little bit too salty so I had taken some salad from my friend’s Cobb Salad to mix in with the fried chicken pieces to lessen the taste of salt. I was only able to barely finish one huge piece of fried chicken. The mac & cheese was good, but I think it could be more cheesier as it was slightly dry. I’m not fond of what I think is bread crumbs on top of the mac & cheese. The slaw is very light and I would consider this a dry slaw as there was no liquid. I like this type of slaw better than the typical wet slaw. This meal was served in a skillet with both the mac & cheese and the Southern slaw placed in separate containers. I would rate this dish 4.5÷5. — Grilled Salmon || grilled salmon is what a grilled salmon should taste like. The salmon was cooked perfectly — slightly crisped around the edges and juicy on the interior. You can pieces of the salmon into the basil pesto sauce that is next to the salmon. We opted to switch out the quinoa salad for the stone-ground grits. What a delicious and warm option it was! The grits were truly the star of this dish. I would rate this dish 4.5÷5. — Southern Cobb || This is definitely a HUGE salad. It can feed a family of four in my opinion. It comes in a very large salad bowl. The green goddess dressing is like a dressing of blended herbs and veggies mixed with ranch. I think it’s a good dressing. One thing that I think that they should change is the chicken should be grilled versus roasted as it is stated on the menu. our chicken was like shredded or pull apart chicken. I did not like the chicken as it was very bland. I know this is a cobb salad, but I also didn’t care about the blue cheese. I would give this salad 3⁄5. I think they may need to work on their salad menu as it is lacking behind compared to other flavorful items on their menu. — Shoe String Fries || We opted to order a side item as our appetizer as I was really craving fries, especially my favorite — shoe string fries! Next time, I am going to mention that I like them to be extra crispy as it was sort of limp. I would rate them 4⁄5. DECOR: The lighting is dim in the establishment. There are two sides to the restaurant: dining room and bar. We were seated in the bar area where there are TVs, booths, and a bar. The décor on the bar side is very nice. I love the lighting over the center of the bar. Very unique as to how they designed it. The brick walls are also very interesting as I have never noticed other restaurants with these types of details. There is a full bar. I think the restaurant is also a great place for happy hour after work. They have a great cocktail and drink menu. Their drinks are very unique. Overall, I really love this place and I would have given it a five star rating if it didn’t have some shortcomings. I’m excited for the next time I get the chance to dine here. I would love to try their sweet potato tots!

I would definitely come back and bring my friends here. Atmosphere(5⁄5): The restaurant is nested in Brookhaven and fits right in with the ambiance of the town. There’s indoor seating with dim lights, a grand bar, and an outdoor patio. I sat at the outdoor patio for dinner. Really cute spot for date nights or wine with your girl friends. Food(4⁄5): Ordered the Pretzel sticks appetizer and Skillet-Fried Half Chicken entrée. The Pretzel sticks were pretty average, but I liked how it was more crunchy than soft. The Skillet-Fried Half Chicken I would give 5 stars to. The chicken was moist and tender and not a bit dry. Even the skin was extra cripsy and tasty. It came with a side of macaroni & cheese(pretty decent) and Southern Slaw(not a big fan of coleslaw but this was amazing because it had a hint of Mexican spice to it). Server(5⁄5): We had a nice man who was very accommodating. He gave us great wine recommendations and did not rush us at all even when we were the last customers left in the restaurant.

I’ve always wanted to check out this place but never got around to it until earlier this week, with two good friends. We actually stopped by the bar at Cinebistro for happy hour and then chose Smash as our dinner route. By the time we got there, we weren’t as hungry as planned so we ordered their Wild Mushroom Flatbread and their version of fried green tomatoes. The flatbread was great with the addition of red pepper flakes. The fried green tomatoes were crunchy, lightly battered and had a good amount of goat cheese on them. Our server was fantastic. She made sure to check up on us plenty of times to ensure that our water glasses were full and our drink requests were fulfilled every time. The music was great here and they seemed to have a great outdoor patio area as well. As we were leaving the restaurant, we noticed an entire section of seating to the left of the entrance. This restaurant has plenty of space for large parties and group gatherings. I look forward to future visits here during the next few months.

Saturday night date, one of the first after our newest little one was born. I was looking forward to some comforting food and some tasty cocktails. We were seated at a two person table by the windows and near the entrance. The space was dark and felt cozy, even though it was pretty big. We started with the drink list, drawn to the Smash cocktails for which the place is named. I was going to get the one with ginger beer, since I love all things ginger beer, but was warned by the server that it was very sweet, and so chose instead the Brookhaven Mule, which was highly recommended by Unilocal. With our cocktails we enjoyed the deviled eggs/pimento cheese/bacon/pickles plate. The bacon was a tad over cooked, but everything else was quite tasty. I had the beet salad to start followed by the smoked pork chop. The beet salad had pretty good flavor, with the fresh watercress and the hazelnuts, but the huge pieces of beet were too cold. One of J’s best friends was on staff at the time, and he recommended the pork chop. It’s a Patak pork chop, full of smoky flavor, served atop divine mac and cheese that is slightly spicy and nicely creamy. My only complaint, and this is being picky, is that if you really love the meat(and yes, I have a weakness for smoked meat), you can’t get to any of it without it being covered in the creamy cheese goodness. J’s Cesar salad was just ok(again, bigger chunks than are good for eating), but he thoroughly enjoyed his prime rib, with was nicely rare in the center, flavorful and tender. We didn’t save room for dessert, and in fact we took the mac and cheese home to a very grateful mother-in-law who also thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all a good evening with some comforting flavors.

The perfect addition to Brookhaven. Great spot for lunch or dinner. The food is amazing! I went with a group for a birthday dinner and it was the perfect place for this celebration. Great staff, amazing food and fun atmosphere. Pork-chops, Ahi Tuna, Kale Salad, T ruffled Creamed Corn, Salmon, Quinoa Salad, Pretzel Bread, Fried Green Tomatoes, Southern Fry, Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Bread Pudding are all amazing! Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
