You can check in quickly, but you are likely going to have to wait a while to see the doctor/nurse. Once I waited 20 – 30 minutes in the waiting area. I was then seen my the nurse and had to wait an extra 20 min to see the doctor. You do have a 15 min to keep your appointment if you are running late. On another visit, I had to get labs but the laboratory was closed so I would have to return another day. I asked why would they even schedule my appointment so late when it was evident that I would have to get labs done. The doctor wondered the same thing. She said I should complain. I ain’t got time to make multiple trips. Parking is available in connected deck; free if under an hour. Labs can take forever — spent an hour just to get some samples taken. Referrals aren’t always processed correctly so it can take forever to get insurance authorization to go see a specialist. That all being said, I like the practitioners that I have seen.

The staff at the Check In desk are always friendly and professional. Considering I’m usually seeing a specialist, I don’t think the wait is excessively long. Once with my doctor or PA, they are never in a hurry to get to the next patient. It seems they allocate reasonable time for each patient. I really like the ability to discuss my concerns and problems and note that the doctors actually listen and address my concerns while providing excellent care! The GI department is by far one of the best in the region!

I go here because it is close to my house. You would think that with so many doctors and student doctors that it would be easy to get in to see someone when you are sick. WRONG! If I found another doctore close by, I would most likely switch.

Overall, very disappointed with Emory Clinic’s efficiency, professionalism, and care for patients. I have been going to Emory for 6 years with a chronic illness, and I feel like a piece of cattle every time I go there. The check in process always changes, I wait usually about 45 minutes before I see the doctor or nurse. Twice I have waited over 2 hours in an exam room waiting for my doctor to come see me for 10 minutes. Billing is very confusing, Emory Clinic, Emory Hospital, Emory Midtown. Each time I seem to owe a different entity money, and none of them communicate with each other. No one is able to answer my questions on why the bill constantly changes and why I keep owing more money. Nothing but attitude from support staff and customer service reps on the phone. I finally was able to move and start with another doctor and I am so grateful. Only hospitals could pull this because any real business would be bankrupt treating customers this way. Sign the dotted line for service and fight the rest of the year to understand what you are paying for.

The medical and office staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s the design of the office that removes stars from its rating. After about and hour and a half combined of waiting and meeting with the doctor, I needed to get blood work. Unfortunately, the nurses where you meet the doctors do not draw blood. I have no idea why this is. I had to bring the lab order to their lab and wait again to get blood drawn. And wait I did. I ended up leaving, because I was unable to wait any longer. Luckily, the lab person was friendly and told me that I could come back another day to do it. That is, fast one more morning, pay for parking again, and wait again. I have been to other doctors where the system runs much smoother, even with high volume. I am not sure why all Emory offices I have had experience with fall short on this.

I like my GP a lot(in the executive health group), and they always seem to be running on time. If it were not for the un-validated parking and the need to make appointments more than a year in advance I’d give it 5 stars.

The doctors at the Emory Clinic are good in person, but they are awful when it comes to billing, and they order ridiculous unnecessary tests just to get more money. First, they typically give the wrong codes to the insurance companies and then come after you with threats of collection. One doctor billed me $ 1000 for some procedure I didn’t even know he was going to do(he didn’t tell me until afterwards), and then when the insurance company only paid him the agreed-upon amount of $ 100, the billing department tried to change the codes and tell me I was responsible for all of it because my insurance would not pay for it. Oddly enough, my insurance company sided with me and threatened litigation against Emory. Hoe often do insurance companies side with patients? That should how you how dysfunctional Emory is. Emory even tried to come after me for a bill they had forgotten to submit which was 9 months old. When I told them I had lost my job and could not currently pay, they told me that wasn’t their problem, and they would continue to come after me even if I went bankrupt. The moral: the doctors there may seem great, but beware of having to spend hours and days fighting their seemingly-criminal billing department, and beware of doctors ordering unnecessary, expensive tests(and miscoding them on purpose!) I would advocate going to any other hospitals or practices over Emory and making sure their billing departments are filled with helpful people.
