La Quinta Inn & Conference Center Auburn

We stayed here because they’re advertised as being pet friendly. I received a pretty good rate and received a free room upgrade at check-​in, which was nice. Our room ended up having the whirlpool bathtub in the bedroom along with a small living room area with an extra TV and a sofa bed. It also had a sink, mini refrigerator, and microwave. We had plenty of towels at check-​in and the king bed was fairly comfortable. It’s no heavenly bed, but I slept perfectly fine.
For the price, I thought the room and hotel was satisfactory. Guest services is attentive and you get free breakfast downstairs in the morning. I would note that the pet policy states that you can’t leave your animal unattended in the room. I would note this because it may limit your ability to run errands or go out to dinner.
My only gripes are more tedious than anything. The free WiFi is very slow — roughly 0.7−0.9 Mbps download. If you’re on cellular 4G/​LTE, you’ll be seeing speeds of 10 Mbps+, which makes the hotel WiFi seem useless. I also didn’t like that when you log in to the free WiFi, there is a box checked by default to pay extra for a faster speed. I ALMOST missed that when I agreed to the terms and logged in. Then I was even more annoyed because I realized that the WiFi is purposefully throttled. Oh well. If you had a laptop/​tablet and needed to check some email or do something minor, the free WiFi is likely sufficient.
The only other thing is that the sofa bed isn’t a comfortable thing. I would feel bad for anyone that had to sleep on that.
The TVs are fairly old-​school. No flat screens or HD in my room. That’s one improvement I’d like to see.
Overall, I’d stay here again. Good rates for a suite, pet friendly, and great location.

2 rooms were reserved, one’s air/​heat fan malfunctioned, both wake up calls were an hour late, (may have been due to the recent time change) but both very clean & comfortable, cookies & drink on arrival, staff very friendly, & somewhat healthy FREE breakfast, Beth did check us out & made me a La Quinta Inn member which along with AARP gives me a discount on my next stay
the swimming pool was nice & Warm & 3 – 5 ft. without lifeguard
we wished that their website would have included choices of renting the executive suites (which comes with fridge & microwave oven)
