The Hound has good food but the customer service is exceptional! This is definitely a good hang out spot for college students. My friends and I visit this place almost every weekend!

Very overrated. Locals seem to love this place, but I found it crowded and mediocre. I got the biscuits and gravy, and it was super bland. My SO got French toast and found it be just okay. Maybe they’re better for dinner. The atmosphere was awesome, and so was their drink list, I might give it another try for dinner.

Lori was an incredible server. She went above and beyond the expectations of a server, and it made my night! The manager was also attentive and was pretty hilarious. I’ve been to the Hound and always had great service, but I felt like they have seriously stepped up their game. Oh, and the food was excellent as usual. I will always recommend The Hound to anyone!

Granola french toast. It’s a must have at brunch. It has a beautiful crust from their house made granola that just makes my heart throb. The turkey bacon avocado sandwich is also really good. Friendly staff. Great mimosas. The huevos rancheros are kind of bland. The pig candy is good but overpowering. The sausage is really good but I wish the patties were thinner and wider rather than thick and small. The pimento cheese and pepper jelly are super good.

Summary: Being from a Big 10 school that’s terrible at football and basketball, I had to try Auburn’s best food and beer establishment and catch the Auburn/Kentucky game(Auburn upset UK, 2016). The Hound is it. Alabama cuisine at its best. Excellent service. Food: I wouldn’t call pork rinds healthy by any means but these were fresh! Oh man, fantastic. I’ve never had something like that in my life. The sausage appetizer was also a great starter to my skirt steak(cooked to perfection). Service: The service here is on par with New York City restaurants. Everyone here is ONPOINT. The host, the bartender, and the server made our experience one to remember. I was very impressed. Atmosphere: I’d call it upscale college bar atmosphere; meaning the place is clean, well taken care of, and the food and drinks fresh. It really reminds me of a NYC gastropub. Again, on point. Recommendation: Pork rinds! Oh man are they awesome! Also try the beer sampler(pictured).

Great service! Food is delicious and bartender makes a mean cocktail. Stop in for a drink, if not for brunch and or dinner.

Awesome casual bar/restaurant. Plenty of TVs to watch Auburn crush their opponents! Long impressive beer list. Near Toomers Corner — walking distance from Stadium. Plenty of parking nearby. Had veggie lasagna and pork chop — highly recommend them. Bread pudding was delicious too!

This is our favorite place in Auburn to eat! The«pig candy», the pimiento cheese/crackers, and the pepper jelly/crackers are the best appetizers — EVER! My favorite meal is the pork chop! We try to eat at The Hound every time we visit — which is usually about once a month.

Great food, think Southern meets gastropub. I loved my pork chop and my wife’s chicken pot pie. Outstanding local craft beer selection with many other regional craft beers too. The service was excellent too with a really nice manager that came by our table twice.

Best food in auburn, bar none. Try the game sausage or the skirt steak; both are fantastic.

Ending up in Auburn long after having graduated from the university is a bit of a mesmarizing experience, at least for me. I was drawn to re-experience one of the spots I used to go to back in the day, yet after mentally examining the options, realized they were all chains and I simply didn’t have money to try something better. Result: Unilocal comes to the rescue. The Hound is tastefully done. Located in an alley behind Cheeburger Cheeburger, parking will be a pain, so be prepared to waste some gas circling surrounding lots. From the hunting lodge doors, to the neo-rustic interior to wall art, they’ve done a spectacular job on design. I was happily amazed. The bar is made of a solid chunk of roughly cut wood that was polished. I mean, nobody wants splinters while drinking a beer. Cracklings all the way. They were so good and it’s enough to share for the table. The bison burger was also pretty well done, but not the best bison I’ve had by any means. The meat was probably average quality. The only reason I can’t give the Hound a blazing 5 stars was the miscommunication or the misinformed bartender, I don’t know exactly which of the two it was. We were told by the host that the full menu ran until 2pm. As we stumbled in kinda late, we wanted to order about 5 min before 2pm and the bartender said the menu has been gone for 30 minutes already. It’s either that he was too lazy to actually get us a full menu or the host told us wrong, but as a result we had to settle for a more limited set of options.

we were a bit hungover, and needing to refuel after a long night. as a New Orleans girl, I was appalled to discover that they can’t serve booze until noon on Sunday’s. as soon as the clock hit 12 people were off to the races lol. the bartenders had everything ready for dozens of mimosas and bloody Mary’s. we got a bottle of champagne with a large glass of grapefruit juice to mix for $ 12.(it was Andre but come on its $ 12). I got a cheeseburger with a side salad and house shallot vinaigrette. the flavors of the vinaigrette weren’t developed, but overall it was a solid dish. my friend got the fried green tomatoes with crawfish cream sauce. it was decadent. I felt as though it needed a base… grits or a hunk of French bread to sop up the copious sauce over the tomatoes. the flavor was good, though. this place was good. with some tweaks the dishes would be further elevated, but I would go back. it’s reasonably priced too(or it seemed that way to me but I’m used to city prices).

Heard from some friends that The Hound serves the best brunch in the area, so we tried it out this morning. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! The environment was great and the set up of the restaurant is very unique! It truly feels like an authentic southern joint with a touch of modern. We loved the décor, elk antler handles, and brick walls! We ordered biscuits and gravy, breakfast potatoes and the Redneck Breakfast, all of which was very filling and really delicious. They also had fresh pineapple juice that was great! They had good service and were attentive to us throughout the stay, no complaints here!

Visited with 2 colleagues after day one of a conference. We were a bit early(they open at 5), but there is some nice outdoor seating available for waiting. They have a good sized cocktail and beer on tap list, which I certainly needed after day one of a conference. They also have a unique list of appetizers. I ordered the fried green beans for the table, and they were great! My Coworkers ordered the Elk Burger Special and the ribs(last day available for the season apparently), and I ordered the Spicy Drunk Poussin, which came with potato salad. My coworkers really enjoyed their dishes. I loved the chicken, but found the potato salad wanting for spice and flavor. Not surprising, as I love spicy, hot, flavorful foods, and potato salad in the southern U.S. is not known for that characteristic. Anyway, the chicken was wonderful. For the price, I think this restarant is worth it.

We love The Hound! The rustic atmosphere is so inviting. The employees definitely enjoy their jobs and it shows. Our server was pleasant and helpful in making suggestions. We had the swordfish, pork chops and skirt steak. Every plate was nearly licked clean! I can’t wait to go back!

I have been here several times now and am really glad that this location, which is a bit hidden but has always housed some great local spots like Olde Auburn Ale House and some other bar that was there while I was in college — forget the name but good times — has been filled with such a great bar/restaurant. Now its a bit more upscale, but in a rugged, rustic sort of way. I love the atmosphere. The side room, which used to house brewing equipment back when it was OAAH, is now a lounge with low lighting and comfortable seating. It’s a great place to eat an appetizer and have a drink while waiting on a table. And I have had to wait pretty much every time I’ve visited. A couple of months ago, I went in after a football game. We were able to watch the game in the lounge while we waited on our table and then order from the late night menu, a limited menu with lots of what I’ll call«gourmet comfort food»(and we needed comfort food, along with the cocktails to drown our sorrows after the Auburn loss). The service has always been friendly, if a bit slow… but, as I mentioned, they are usually slammed when I go there. Most recently, I ate Sunday brunch at The Hound. I had checked out the menu on Unilocal beforehand and planned on getting the fried green tomato benedict. It wasn’t on the menu, sadly(nor was any other benedict) but I got a close second — a fried green tomato stack, which was topped with a fried egg. I got the egg over easy, so it was runny like benedict. It was served in a delicious, soupy, sausage-y sauce. We also ordered the pimento cheese, which came out with saltines. Unassuming and tasty. Is that bacon in the pimento cheese? I think so. I ordered a bourbon caramel latte from the Coffee Cat, which is apparently next door but partners up with The Hound. No Sunday cocktails before noon, but the coffee drink satisfied my craving to indulge myself. Overall, I left happy and stuffed.

My first time here and it was for dinner with my colleagues. I arrived about 6 minutes late and most of my friends were already there and waiting. According to my friend, they had a table ready for us but because not all of us were there yet, they couldn’t be seated. When all of us arrived, we were told we had to wait because they didn’t want to over work their cooks/staff due to the number of customers already seated. They said we needed to wait to be seated until several more tables get their meals before allowing us get a table. We were eventually seated at a table, but there were 7 of us and we were crammed into a table that normal seats 6, but more comfortable for 5. We asked to be moved and that took several minutes until they agreed to let us move to a larger table. The service and hospitality here is interesting. They’ll ask if we’re doing okay quite often. Even when we’re just drinking water. I order the pork belly sliders, which were pretty good. Sweet and savory all at the same time. Three sliders for $ 9, I guess that’s a decent price. Then for my entrée, I ordered the Skirt Steak. I originally wanted to try the fish special, which was blackened grouper over mashed potatoes and black beans, but the price was $ 32 so I opted for the steak dish, which was $ 10 less than the fish dish. The steak were cooked medium rare, which is how I like and the chef’s recommendation, and it comes already sliced for you. Which means less work on my end. The mashed potato was delicious and topped with fried onion. Reminds me of the fried onion you use for green bean casserole. Either ways I enjoyed my dinner. Only complaint was the initial service.
