We order for delivery from this place practically every week. The service is a little slow, but the delivery guys are so kind and friendly, impossible to be mad at them(even when I’m hangry by the time they get there)! Our orders are usually accurate, but there have been quite a few times when the order isn’t right. It’s usually when we add something and pay extra for it. That is slightly irritating, but again, the food and service are decent so I get over it. Their grilled chicken sandwich is my fav, and it’s always warm and fresh upon delivery. Even though they mess up our orders, and take longer than the average delivery, they are still a good choice when you grow tired of the typical delivery fare, and want to have something other than pizza. Just be sure to not wait until you’re starving to order your food, because it will take a while!

I have had several things from their menu but I would have to say, their pizza is the best! My favorite is the farmers market veggie. My husband loves their burgers and their fries are perfection. They deliver and their service is awesome. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because I do wish there were more vegetarian options. However, if you’re looking for quick and easy(and delicious!) this place is it.

First off, I would like to say we order form this place pretty regularly. Cheeseburgers delivered to your door? YESPLEASE! And until today it’s always been fresh, hot and delicious. Not today. Not only were our orders wrong, they were freezing cold and burned beyond recognition. You try telling a hungry 8 year old that his hot dog will taste fine even though it’s a «little» darker than normal. :-( Now I understand it’s Friday and things might be busier than normal. But it’s the same food and same time frame we always order in. Sadly the burger I was craving was inedible and went straight into the trash. Same with my little ones hot dog.

This place has potential. The workers are lazy or slow from the times I’ve visited the establishment. It’s a good atmosphere for kids as there is a game room(but it could use an update). I ordered delivery last night, they said about an hour and it was here in about an hour. I tipped the guy well because it was bloody cold outside so I was a little disappointed that I had blown $ 20 on a mediocre meatball sub, French fries, and an order of over cooked cheese bread sticks. Not worth it. Won’t be ordering from here again. I MIGHT go to the buffet again. 1626 you have people routing for you, get your shiz together.

Burgers are pretty good. but they are next to a meat market and you would expect they could use fresh meat. When you get fries for a side. umm maybe about 15 if that(very small portion). It’s a good place but they really need a good chef and they would do a lot better. I dig the atmosphere when I eat there. The pinball games are good. but need to be maintained.(bad flipper but loose game). If they put more pride in their quality of food and had a real manager that took pride in what they serve I’d eat there more often. Good family feel but just seems abit lazy on using quality food… since you have a meat market next door. Frozen chicken fried steak. man you could kill it if you really wanted to and make tons of money since this area is starting to boom. Food for thought owners. Take advantage of what you have.(meat market) Try fresh green instead of iceberg lettuce…(farmers market). Your losing money from laziness. You have a gold mine if you put some effort into your establishment. Also I’ve gotten delivered food cold. try a pizza bag or something… the same day I wrote this post I thought I’d give it another try with burgers. Meat was burnt. They don’t care how they cook anything.

This food is always so yummy! And even though they ask for about an hour to deliver, they have never taken near that long. I love this place.

I’ve lived about a mile from the restaurant for the last couple of years and I finally decided to give it a try. I took my four year old for dinner and he really enjoyed the game room, it is old school but entertaining nevertheless. I ordered the meatball sandwich which was pretty good and I got the spaghetti and meatballs for my little guy. Our food was good and i really liked the marinara sauce. It’s a decent dining experience if you have little ones but nothing to write home about. Overall, decent food and nice themed local restaurant. if you live in the area it’s definitely worth checking out.

Totally unacceptable! Went in for lunch at 12:30 on a Friday, staff seemed totally overwhelmed and they weren’t busy at all. I ordered the pizza buffet, a soda, and left a two dollar tip ahead of time on the credit card bill. When I went to the buffet there was ¾ of a pizza with the works that looked old and a few pieces of some Hawaiian pizza. That was it! I hate mushrooms and peppers on my pizza so I took a couple pieces of the other and it was cold and not good at all. I then waited for 15 mins and no new pizzas came out. I could see there were others waiting for pizza too but apparently the staff couldn’t be bothered. I then went to the front and explained I was expecting much more from this buffet and if there was no more pizza coming soon I would like a refund. Instead of apologizing for this, they just got a manager to process the refund. The manager came over and gave me the money back for the base buffet price and didn’t ask why or say sorry at all. I’m shocked this place is in business when they operate this way. I will never be back and I suggest you don’t waste your time either.

Trying to eat the skimpy buffet… Not enough pizza for everyone. When I’m ready to eat, I’m ready to eat — not wait! WILLNOTBEBACK!

Friendly staff, delivers, buffet, tv’s everywhere, and game room. The lasagna is off the hook and it’s big enough for leftovers. Burger, pizza, Mac and cheese is good too. Only bad thing is the prices are a little high.

Avoid! While waiting for my family’s order they dropped part of our order on the kitchen floor by the drain. Instead of remaking it they continued to box it up and tried to give it to me. When confronted was told I don’t know I’m just bagging it up. We left the entire order and went elsewhere I would suggest you do the same. If they are willing to serve this food to me and my family what food safety principles does this establishment have? Also noticed large amount of flies in the prep area just not a good visit for a first time customer. Glad we didn’t choose delivery like we planned we would have never known.

Found a sticker in my lasagna, «best by» date was before my order. So gross.

Always spot on. And they deliver. While working on a remodel we seldom had time to leave and go eat somewhere. Sometimes the energy was purely exhausted. Que 1626. These guys have always been courteous and friendly. Their Chicken Phillycheese is incredible!!! Their pizzas are legit. Their manager seems to be a really good guy. I love ordering from 1626 and do not plan on stopping any time soon. I would’ve given you guys 5 stars but Ya’ll always mess up my wife’s salad. But keep it up! You guys definitely have more pros than cons! Ps: nice fries and jalapeño burger basket!

For Mother’s Day we decided to order in instead of dining out. We didn’t want to be in an over-crowded restaurant and wait an hour plus to be seated. Our search criteria was $$, open, delivery… we scrolled through and decide to try Café 1626. Just before we were getting ready to order, my daughter shows up and gave Café 1626 a raving review. We all ordered hamburgers with fries. We ordered a side of Stuffed Jalapenos and Onion Rings. They were amazing. The person taking the order was friendly. We were told it would be delivered in an hour, we weren’t expecting fast delivery due to Mother’s Day, but they order arrived under an hour. It was delicious and we will most definitely order again. Maybe we will dine out next time.

I was craving pizza and a few people had recommended the buffet at Café 1626. My husband and I stopped in, but it was small and not very well lit. I could see pizza sitting on the buffet, but it looked like it had been there a while and smelled like Mr. Gatti’s pizza sauce(which I think has a plastic taste). It just didn’t feel very clean. We never made it to the arcade, so I couldn’t say how good it was. We won’t be going back.

Called in order and told it would be 10 min. It took 30 minutes. Got home with the order and it was completely wrong! Took the food back and the manager was very nice and remade the order fully. Frustrating!!! Guess what — I got home and they screwed the order up again! What a piece of crap restaurant!!! A simple order minus bell peppers and onions and what did they do they added bell peppers and onions. Guess I will not be ordering from there anymore!

One of the worst pizzas we have ever had. We have never thrown a pizza in the garbage until Café 1626& I honestly wouldn’t have considered giving it to a hungry, homeless person for their own good. You can taste the bad quality ingredients, which attempt to be masked under the massive layer of plastic cheese. The crust was tough(not crispy, but hard to bite into as if stale) & flavorless. The service wasn’t great either; we repeated our order twice & they still didn’t get it right. Overpriced for the quality; you can get a much better quality pizza at Tony’s South Austin Pizza for the same price or less & it tastes more like a pizza than a dog’s rubber chew toy.

I’m updating my review in reaction to the other reviews I’m reading about 1626. I think there’s some confusion about what you should expect when either dine in or order in. What 1626IS: It’s old Austin family dining and comfort food. It’s wonderfully greasy spoon munchies for under $ 10, with nice guys slinging the dishes and communal dining with football on TV. What 1626ISN’T: It’s not gourmet hipster infused burgers with microbrewery attached and BMW’s in the parking lot. I’m not trying to be tongue in cheek and saying one thing is better than the other or make fun of anyone. I like to have my high end dining experience when that’s what I want, and I want my jeans and t-shirt throw the kiddos in the SUV dining experience as well. I just think it’s worth taking a quick sec to point out to you, the faithful reader, what to expect. Maybe this review will save a good local place another 3 star review from someone who expected something different.
