I was pleasantly surprised with the food and the attention in this place. It is, after all, what most would consider a «hotel restaurant». During a stay in the adjacent Courtyard Marriott, we had dinner and breakfast here: both meals were great!

Zac, our server was the best we’ve had so far. I will always request White Lightning.

Slow service, cold food, and expensive prices for lame bar food. Stay far away unless you want to watch a game and drink a beer. Lots of TVs, but horrible food.

Champions is connected to the Courtyard Marriott by the convention center. We were staying in the hotel for a wedding and took full advantage of having a full restaurant/bar at our disposal. I had the classic club with fries and it was decent. They skimped a little on the meat but it was about what you’d expect from a club. The breakfast buffet is pure fire. Everything you could want. Eggs, French toast, bacon, sausage, grits, biscuits, oatmeal, cereal, fresh fruit, and a waffle station! The waffle station was awesome. The correct amount of batter was portioned out for individual usage and ready to go. The waffle came out shaped like the state of Texas. Solid work. This place has plenty of TV’s and beers ready to go. They’re open late so the night before the wedding we ended up back here for a night cap. Solid spot.

Wow im shocked that a sports bar in downtown Austin couldn’t pull off wings or burgers. My companions got burgers which the buns were stale and their coleslaw side was rotten. We asked the waitress for mayo for one of the burgers and when we pulled the cap off there was mold. I luckily ordered a buffalo chicken salad which I assumed couldn’t be bad. Wrong. The salad looked nice but the fried chicken was cold and one of the pieces was frozen in the middle. If you’re attending a conference like I was please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

This bar has plenty of TVs to watch your favorite team play just don’t expect drinks or food. They have 1 bartender and 3 servers for a place filled with 100. If you want to overpay for beer do it at another establishment. At least one that may get you a drink before you die of thirst.

This place is the Marriott hotel restaurant/sports bar. They offer breakfast each day too. The days that I was there was even during the week, which is opposite of what some of the hotel reviews indicate. The breakfast was my first experience here. I’m not sure how the restaurant is compensated for what the Marriott hotel offers their patron as complimentary breakfast. It’s more like a regular breakfast restaurant experience. You wait to be seated, the waitress takes your drink order, but then you go to the buffet line to help yourself to some out of the norm hotel complimentary breakfast buffet items. My favorites were the nuts, teas, berries, and potatoes. One evening, because it was raining, we decided to dine here at dinner time instead of venturing out in the rain. We sat at the bar and I honestly wasn’t hungry. We sat at the bar and my husband ordered a burger and had a few beers. The bar tender was overly condescending, but the burger was good. A manager walked over and shook our hands, it was as if he was apologizing that we were stuck with the horrible bar tender, without us saying a word about it. Some people amaze me when it comes to considering that the fact that most of their livelihood depends on their tips. c

This place is utterly awful. If I could, I would not give any stars at all. In my defense, I did try it three times as it was the restaurant in my hotel. The service is horrendous, waitstaff and bar as we sat at both. The food, when we finally got it, was mediocre. I’m a fan of Marriott and it’s too bad this is the restaurant at this particular location, as I feel it will leave many guests disappointed and not return to Marriott again. Please don’t waste your time and money here!

Over priced for very basic American food. I didn’t realize this place was«part» of the Marriott when I entered from the street, but it explains a lot. The prices are too high for the quality of the food and our service was very slow. You seat yourself. Unfortunately the only open tables weren’t bused. We sat at a table full of empty beer bottles and glasses for five minutes before someone came and cleaned it. They took our drink order but it took another five minutes to get them(just soda and water). It was 2:30 on a Saturday but I felt like we were ignored because we had kids with us. I wouldn’t eat here again. Only reason we did is we were in a rush and it was the closest thing. If I had it to do over again, I would have found somewhere else.

I ordered food to go but drank a beer at the bar while I waited. They have a pretty good beer selection and a full bar. Obviously. They offer several vegetarian options but the food is just ok. I had the portobello sandwich. The most troubling thing was I saw a guy sit at the bar, not get helped and actually walk out… So it seems service can been an issue. I personally didn’t have any issues though.

Absolutely Terrible!!! Quality of breakfast is 0 stars!!! If I could give a 0 star review I would do so!!! Hostess has an attitude & completely disinterested in the customers!!! Avoid at all costs!!! Austin is a foodie town. & this place brings absolute shame to Austin!!! I would rather walk to another restaurant close by even when you are staying at the Marriott properties!!! Save your money & enjoy something better Austin has to offer!!!

My family and I were staying at the Courtyard Marriott in Austin… we were here all weekend. We ate breakfast and lunch at Champions every day and we loved our drinks, our food and the staff there. I want to thank Holly and Jason the bartenders, Heather and Jennifer, the waitresses and the breakfast hostess,(did not get her name) for making us feel at home. It was a very comfortable bar/resturant and everyone working here is sweet, kind, hard workers and dedicated to making your time with them memorable… Thank you all for making it so enjoyable!

Abhorrent service. I literally had to track down a bartender while sitting at the Damned bar. This is amazing. Bartender gave my friend a vodka tonic when we ordered a vodka cranberry, then after that, this muppet garnished a vodka cranberry with a lemon… Wtf…

Service is pretty crappy here. It was pretty empty inside yet for some reason I still waited 40 minutes for my food. It was ridiculous. However, their brisket sandwich is freaking delicious!!! Enough so, that it justified a 4 star rating. Make sure you get sweet potato fries

The service at the bar was a slow as a turtle up hill and while our group all ordered food at the same time it took 29 min get a calamari app and more than 45 min to get a burger. The beer was good food was mediocre and the service was horrible.

Across from the Convention Center which helps when you have a conference or mtg there. I ordered the angus burger and fries. $ 12 which is slightly over priced but it tasted good and my server was excellent! I might be back one day.

This was a pretty good spot for a hotel sports bar. I had a fun beer sampler featuring all local beers. There was a good tv to person ratio. And I watched a lot of food come out and it all looked pretty good!

First visit was nice – good food, friendly service. Had lunch there and enjoyed my free sangria! Yum. Second visit, pretty good. Had the $ 12 breakfast buffet. Nice selections, friendly – almost overly so – but pretty good overall. Third visit – not so much. Our party of 9 waited 30 minutes for drinks… DRINKS…and when we inquired at the bar about whether we could get lunch, we were met with a grouchy snarl from the bartender that they were short staffed and it would be at least an hour before they could take our order. We were 1 of 5 other tables in the entire place. Seriously. So we got up to leave as the server set down our drinks and boy was she mad. So what did I learn? Service is touch-n-go and if you can stay a while, the food is pretty good. Not overwhelming… but pretty good. It’s nice to have an actual restaurant in a Marriott Courtyard though.

I would not recommend Champions. Unfortunately, Champions is the restaurant located in the Courtyard by Marriott Austin Downtown Convention Center. This is right in the middle of downtown Austin where there is a very vibrant food and bar scene. Within a stones throw you can find dive bars, theme bars, hole in the wall eateries and 5 star gourmet restaurants. Apparently the owner /operators of Champions know they have a built in clientele of business people who just want to go down to the closet bar and have a few drinks or get a quick meal before going back to their rooms and calling it a night. So it’s Thursday night around 10:00 pm and I find myself sitting at the bar. Getting my first drink and placing my food order was no problem. Beer arrived promptly in an ice cold glass and my fish & chips arrived shortly their after and that’s when things feel apart. Fish & chips normally come with Tartar sauce and/or malt vinegar but not this time. The server who brought the food was off and running before I realized the food had been shoved in front of my face and from that point on I might as well have been on a desert island. There were two bartenders working. One of them a female was really more interested in flirting with a group seated on the other side of the bar. The guy who had served my beer seemed to feel his only tasks were cleaning glasses, moving boxes around and filling orders coming from the restaurant. It was be no means a busy night. After eating all of the fries which we ver good by the way, don’t want all of this to be negative but you’re in trouble when the fries are the highlight of your meal. After trying unsuccessfully to flag someone down I got up and walk down to where the bar tender was and asked for it. He had to find it and he brought it back to where I was seated. I guess he didn’t notice that glass was getting empty because there was no offer for a refill. Shame on me for not noticing myself and brining it to his attention. Hoping that my having to get up and track down the bartender for the vinegar would be enough to inspire some attentiveness I began eating my fish. The fish was nothing special. The breading was falling of and it was bland. I do not recommend ordering it. Predictably the bar tender never returned to check on me which I don’t get. It’s a bar. The one thing they should be doing is making sure you have as many opportunities as possible to order more drinks. It’s not like I was waiting for an iced tea refill. This is a revenue opportunity that was them passing by. I would have had 3 of 4 beers(it had been a long day) if the service had been on the spot. Once again I had to get the bartender in order to get service. Finally, the beer came and I finished my meal paid my bill and got out of there. Two stars is generous but the beer I ordered UFO which was a local microbrew was outstanding. If Shocktop and Blue Moon got together and made a blend you might get something a smooth and flavorful as this. Then there were the fries. I wish I had ordered their loaded fries from the appetizer menu. That would have been good. Service was awful and had it not been for the beer and fries this would have been a one start experience.
