I went here with a friend based on Unilocal recommendations. It is small, but very clean, and the service was very efficient. We got the last table at noon. The Gyoza dumplings(free with Unilocal checkin!) were delicious. Both of us got the Spicy Tuna roll, and both of us were disappointed in it. The tuna is ground up, and not remotely spicy. I got another roll which was very good, so I just ate that and the dumplings. I will go back and just avoid the Spicy Tuna.

Good sushi — apparently the Rebecca Roll is fantastic but I can’t eat it due to allergies . Try and get a table for happy hour — which runs to 7pm and do try the sake.

Really good sushi place. Feels odd that it is in the middle of a huge planned community like Steiner Ranch, but it seems to work well for them.

Visiting the area and wanted something light for dinner so we thought sushi would be a good idea. Saw that Cho Sushi had 4 star so we have gave it a try. Service was good. Food was terrible. We had the spider and Cho special rolls. Rice in rolls were too mushy. Quality of rolls was ½ star at best. Sashimi was not fresh. My wife and I love sushi but couldn’t even finish the two rolls and a sashimi sampler we ordered. Probably best not to try sushi in a isolated part of Austin.

We order Cho Sushi takeout on average once a month. Usually the sushi rolls are fresh and tasty. This was definitely not the case tonight. The fried rolls were fishy tasting and had an overabundance of cream cheese(The Champion and the Monster). The Bentley that comes with steak had a strange taste as well. Even the Udon noodles with steak weren’t any better(steak was tough). We were very disappointed with this order after paying $ 79.00!

Very good sushi, my go-to place when I’m craving Japanese! Service varies from good to excellent, with the standout being the happy-hour specials on certain rolls like the geisha and the softshell crab appetizer. Definite must-try when in the Steiner Ranch area. Perhaps the only minus is the insistence on using sweet miso sauce on everything, which tends to homogenize the flavor of a lot of the dishes. This place gets a 4 on the ‘CTJ Scale’, as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing on after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK eating here with Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus’ Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn’t have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn’t have my penultimate supper here, either.

The quality of the fish speaks for itself. But I wish they made us feel like good customers.

Highlights: professional, polite service; engaging atmosphere; clean. Wound up at this location as the Bee Cave restaurant was engulfed in a ladies’ night. Upon entering this Steiner Ranch spot I was met with the welcoming aroma of freshly fried tempura. The young staff maintains a nice balance of being attractive and informed yet not obnoxiously helpful. The sushi was all right. The specials sounded and looked wonderful, yet didn’t complete the connection on taste and texture. Specifically the Champion roll was overly cream cheesed and the Habanero roll lacked any sort of «umph» or unifying flavors other than, perhaps, «bland.» The yellow tail and unagi rolls were both good, although sliced unevenly. The meal ended pleasantly with a tasty fried ice cream that was delicious and flavorful, and devoured by 4 in 40 seconds flat. Yum!

Really unique rolls and huge bento boxes. Favorite rolls so far are the Spicy Dirk, the Bentley, and Steiner Ranch. The bacon-wrapped scallops were amazing. Scallops were cooked perfectly. Service is friendly and pretty fast even when they’re busy.

I’m more into traditional Japanese food so Cho sushi, although having attractive happy hour prices, was a little too fusion for me. Wait staff are nice and having it so close to where I live, I really hope they have more fresh & traditional Nigiri available…

Normally I love Cho’s. However, I had a few bad experiences there. First, when I ate off the Happy Hour sushi menu, I was disappointed. Appears to be lower grade sushi to me. Second was when I had desert. It was terrible. And lastly, their wine selection is very limited. If you order off regular menu should be ok.

My family goes here probably more than we should. Today the waiter joked that my brother practically worked there since he knew where everything was.(He asked if we wanted a fork and my brother gets up and says«Don’t worry, I got it!») This restaurant is absolutely delicious! Just driving by and walking past you can see everyone loves it since it’s ALWAYS full. I’m not a big fan of sushi but my family says its some of the best in Austin and very reasonably priced. Everyone is super friendly and the service is very quick! Definitely our favorite family restaurant. Close to home and never disappoints. LOVE Cho!

Normally I love this place so much but after tonight’s dinner, I have to think twice about going again. The fatty tuna, which was more than twice as much as the other nigiri, was 3 times more inedible. I almost gagged while smelling the fishy smell as I tried to chew the sinewy, thick, overtly large piece of slobby(not fatty) tuna. Even the wagyu was more chewy than normal. Maybe it was just an off night but when I just got back from Seattle and paid less for world class sushi, that sucks.

5 stars fo sho… or really fo Cho! Get it? Anyways, Cho is easily my favorite Sushi to date, even above the fancy more expensive places i’ve been. Highly recommend the edamame(doesn’t taste like it was out of a bag) and all the rolls a great. Great happy hour deals too. I like the Lakeway location slightly more because they have a full bar, Quinlan location is just beer and wine. Quilan location can also get loud as it is a small space, but still so worth the visit.

I eat a lot of sushi and this is by far my favorite sushi in Austin! You have got to try the Texas, Wright Boy, Green Hornet, and Devil rolls. The food is always delicious and fresh. The service is great. A++

We traveled up to Cho’s Sushi because we wanted to try something new and they had good reviews. The Good: –Spicy tuna tacos –Geisha roll –Boston roll –Yellowtail roll: simple but fresh –Service: friendly The Not-so-bad: –Agedashi Tofu: ok — very subtle flake flavor The Ugly: –Gyoza: pan seared but not crispy. The meat: wrap ratio was off. Overall, pretty good. A little far to travel for me, since there’s other pretty good sushi spots in more central Austin.

My favorite menu at Cho’s is their lunch menu, because of the Bento boxes. I got hooked on Bentos in Japantown in SFO, and lunch at Cho’s is as close as I can get. The prices are reasonable, from $ 10 to $ 12, and my current favorite is the Scallops with asparagus($ 12). Their sushi is as fresh as you can get in the middle of Texas, and their sushi chefs are always on tap, working behind the sushi bar. Speaking of bars, they also serve alcohol, including sake and Asian beers, and a variety of wines. The atmosphere is pleasant and somewhat dark, with a choice of booths or tables. Families do come here because, duh, it’s in the middle of Steiner Ranch. If you check in on Unilocal, they’ll give you a complimentary appetizer. Be aware that they’re closed from 2:30 — 5:30 to prepare for dinner.

I showed up here at 9pm on Saturday and what I can say is this place lived up to it’s expectations. The sushi was great, and the Kobe beef on hot rock set this Asian fusion restaurant a part from the rest of them. The hot rock is more about the experience and less about the food(although the Kobe beef was exceptional) The staff was friendly, and attentive. They came to refill our waters as needed and showed us how to cook the meat on the hot rock without being overbearing. The food also came out in a timely manner and the décor/noise level was good for a date night without feeling like you had to dress pretentiously.

I could easily fail my company’s health screening after leave Cho last Sunday night. The Sunday all day Happy Hour is insane. It’s so outrageous, I would need counselling to quit it if it was any closer. The 4 of us ate like royalty and we only spent $ 100, including drinks. We had the seaweed salad, the cucumber salad, and the agedashi tofu from the $ 4 appetizer menu. The seaweed salad is fairly standard, nothing bad but nothing outstanding. The dressing on the cucumber salad was good but the overall plate is something I would not order again. The tofu was unbelievable. I haven’t had any tofu this good in so long that we ordered two portions. From the $ 5 appetizer menu, we ordered the 7 spiced calamari and asian wings spicy yakitori. Both were intense with flavor. The calamari is definitely good — crunchy, spicy, and fresh. The wings were sweet and spicy. I little less sauce would have been perfect but these were definitely worth a plate or two. Salmon, yes please. 5 orders. Tuna, yes again. I can’t say no.(sounds like an addiction doesn’t it?) From the $ 5 roll menu, we basically ordered everything but the philadelphia roll, the buddha roll and the tempura asparagus roll. They spicy tuna roll was good and fresh, definitely my favorite roll. The eel roll we mediocre. The spider roll had the crunch but was nothing spectacular. The shrimp tempura was average. Definitely worth the money for this gem tucked away in Steiner Ranch.
