Despite the many sushi restaurants in town, we choose to frequent this neighborhood spot for the great sushi rolls and food. We usually start off with garlic edamame, gyoza soup, and sashimi salad, which are are all well-done. The specialty rolls including the spicy dirk and peppered tuna are both two of our favorites. We’re glad that this restaurant is so near us!

We always have a great experience here. The sushi is always perfect. The wine and beer selection is very nice. We come at least once a week and have been regulars since they opened. We come here often because we love the customer service. Po has always taken very good care of us. He always starts our order as soon as we walk in. He is the main reason we seem to come so much. Sam knows our drinks and has them poured and ready as soon as we sit down. We like all the guys behind the counter. Wayne is constantly entertaining and a refreshing burst of energy. They recently got a new manager Kenneth and he is constantly hustling around the place and checking on everyone. It’s really coming together nice here. They seem to have a really solid staff right now. You can’t go wrong. It’s the best place in Lakeway.

Went two nights in a row — first night sat at sushi bar. Fairly quiet chefs until end of meal(end of night). Stuck to sashimi(toro, salmon belly, mackerel) — true fusion. I am a fan of fresh fish and usually authentic but must say the food was excellent and tons of options. Second night took my little one to eat for her bday and tried the chefs choice. Can’t even remember how many plates but each plate had a unique taste and texture. Price was great for so much food, too. I will definitely be back.

Udon trip. I needed noodles and boy was I satisfied. The Tampura comes on a side plate to avoid getting soggy. Crisp veggies and shrimp in a good batter. The udon were fresh-tasting and the broth was the perfect complement to them.

I love Cho. I never go a week without eating there. Everything is always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the Pepper Tuna Roll. The service is very good, especially Michelle! I recommend it to everyone.

Came here a week ago with my wife on the recommendation of a friend. She is pregnant and our bartender Lesley gave some great recommendations for items that are safe for her to eat. Everything was delicious, but Lesley made the experience more than food, she kept us entertained and is very friendly and fun. We will be back because of her, but the great food doesn’t hurt.

Strange, the waitress served us miso soup before giving us a bowl of miso flavored ramen soup and she said it was because we ordered the ramen. Why, would you serve soup as an appetizer for a soup dish? We were also very disappointed with the over cooked soggy ramen noodles and couldn’t eat it. More disappoints: the water tasted moldy, the waitress spilt one of the soups over the table, the chefs pulverized the tuna to make the spicy tuna rolls and the California roll was bland tasting. We won’t be back.

We love Cho! It’s affordable, a casual atmosphere, and a great spot if you’re craving Japanese food. The servers are always great, too. Michelle takes great care of us. They have a good happy hour, too. Half price sake — I’ll take it! Order the Rebecca roll(you’re welcome). ;-)

This is our first time at Cho’s. Very impressed! I had two different rolls and both were exquisite. This is the best sushi restaurant we have found this side of town, for sure! It’s not really an everyday sushi place but more of a special occasion. But it is very fresh, has fantastic flavor and the restaurant itself is decent. We will definitely be returning! And returning. And returning!

Stopped by Cho off of a recommendation of the lovely lady working at the winery that I went to this past weekend for great sushi. We had a party of 9 on a Saturday night which they had to get a table big enough for us. I really enjoyed the sashimi appetizer which was reasonably priced. The gyozas were amazing as well! We had several pours of lychee sake and the plum wine, even more alcohol, from our prior pit stop of abundant drinking in Dripping Springs and they were amazing. Checking in on Unilocal also scores you a FREE cali roll! Hey, free sushi? Yay! My husband ordered the unagi roll which I ordered Chicken Katsu as I was craving fried food tonight rather than fish. Totally hit the spot and we love the waitress who handled our extremely huge party size so efficiently, remembering all our orders and dividing up the check with no mistake! We had a rude encounter with one of their patrons that was leaving Cho while our huge party was waiting outside. She yelled at us to «MOVE!» and asked if «we were having a ralley and to please not terrorize Lakeway» I’m sure she could have been a bit nicer, but unfortunately, we were in her way from her precious Lexus and the tiny walkway was unbearable for her to go around us. Overall, if you can avoid rude people while eating at Cho’s the food is pretty great when in the area. We will be back!

WORTHTHEDRIVE. My fiancé and I found this place on a whim looking for great sushi since our move to Austin, TX from Detroit, MI. Found this place out on 620, and made the drive. Sure glad we did. Staff is super friendly and the food is incredible. Had the calamari appetizer which was well seasoned and served steaming hot. Sushi is original and actually spicy which is a nice change of pace. Will return here the next time the craving strikes! So delicious!

I have now visited Cho 3 times! Conclusion! Great American Sushi restaurant!. They have fresh wasabi and their fish selections have been fresh and delicious every time. Their lunch prices are very fair and the lunch rolls are huge BTW. Excellent speed and service as well. I love the lunch sushi combined with a huge raindow roll all for a mere $ 15. Excellent place in Lakeway for your sushi cravings! Come for HH and save a few bucks!

I live in Steiner and have been to Cho multiply times because it’s so convenient. Their fish is inconsistently fresh, last time Toro sashimi came out frozen served on a bed of ice. They do serve it with fresh wasabi(which is good to find), yet the delicacy slices of tuna, that should melt In your mouth, was chewy and just not good. I RARLY send food back and when asked we told the waiter of our dissatisfaction. They did take both pricey orders off the check. Cho is on the upper level of basic American McSushi. The service is good and I think their Japanese fusion food is good as well. When your ready to have some real Japanese fair try Tomodachi off Parmer ln.

Cho is quickly becoming our favorite spot in Lakeway. Last night we tried the miso soup, the fried rice with shrimp, teriyaki chicken, shrimp tempura, a couple sushi rolls and the Sushi lovers plate. I tried pretty much everything and had the tiger eye roll, Cho-stastic roll and the Texas roll, which was my favorite. I am not a sushi expert, but I have lived in the West coast and have had sushi in Japan — and this one was pretty good. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. The service was perfect and food came out quickly. The price was reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food. The restaurant is comfortable and clean. Next time I am going to check out their noodles.

One line summary: Best sushi place in Austin! This is for the Lakeway 620 location. If you are coming for sushi, sit at the sushi bar, the sushi chef, Po, is OUTSTANDING! He was very friendly and got our food out quick. He even gave us a small samples — super cool. The food itself is great. We got rolls, sushi, and sashimi; all were good. The value in the sushi platters is ridiculous. I think it was called the Lover Sushi plate that was $ 40, but you get 27(!!!) pieces of sushi. Do the math, you cannot beat that price for the quality of fish that the restaurant has. The drive was 40 minutes one way for me, but the food, chef, and value is so good that I will definitely be back regularly. Thanks, Chef Po!!!

Came in at lunch. Food presentation was nice, with big portions for sashimi. However. I’m ingesting mercury. would’ve liked it to taste fresh. Ordered a free cali roll from Unilocal check in, which they forgot to bring it out until we were full to the brim and ready for the check. Server was nice. We went here by a recommendation, but think I’m gonna skimp on sushi if I’m not on the coast.
