Lambs-E-Divey

This shop sits quietly in the same retail park as my beloved Breed & Co. I was initially intimidated by the perplexing name. When I garnered the strength to venture forth, I found an upscale children’s clothing boutique with some beautiful fabrics.
Lambs-​E-​Divey is named for a line in a lullaby (which one is beyond me), and exudes a kind of immaculate, angelic ambiance with its perfectly arranged toddler tees and flawless white infant dresses. Although the woman in charge was very friendly and casually clad in designer jeans, the sterile air made for a less-​than-​inviting visit.
L-​E-​D has handmade, specialty, and personalized clothing for young to very young children. They cater to newborn through 12 yrs., but most of their displays looked as if they’d fit infants or toddlers. I wasn’t blown away by the stock, but they do have some gorgeous handmade wool sweaters and some cute tees terribly befitting for the personality of a 3– or 4-yr.-old. I considered buying an outfit for a friend’s baby, but held off when I flipped over a price tag. Whoa.
I think what I’m trying to get at is that my overall impression of Lambs-​E-​Divey is that it’s a place that wants to be something it’s not. This little specialty shop wants to be a boutique in a vertical mid-​rise on 5^th Avenue or that store on Wilshire where all the celebs buy their baby threads. I don’t mean to sound harsh. I have nothing against fancy boutiques (although my wallet might). And in fairness to them, Westlake is an Austin ‘burb that is unapologetic about their pricier cost of living. But Lambs-​E-​Divey might be better serving to its community if it were to embrace one of the cornerstones of this unique mini-​metropolis. Chill out, dude.
Might be worth a visit.
