It’s been about 9 months since I was in Austin now, and and that whole weekend runs together into a beer-soaked blur. However, I still can recall very clearly the half hour I spent enjoying the fried oyster po’boy I got from osmo’s on a sunny saturday morning on a park bench a few blocks east of my hotel. I think that says something.

I’ve been here three times and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I keep trying to go find somewhere else to eat but the staff is friendly, they treat me like royalty and they’re proud of what they produce. This time I had the catfish platter and it was served on a bed of fries. Even the fries were good! Not just ok, we’ve all had just ok fries but they tasted fresh and were well seasoned. The catfish was coated in panko breadcrumbs and here’s to honoring tradition but stepping beyond. It leads to a crispier coating over a succulent filet. The tartar sauce and cocktail sauce served with them is excellent. Slaw…I usually can’t stand people’s slaw. It’s some bland mayo based conglomeration of doom. Their’s is spicy. Added seasonings kick it up and even a simple side item becomes something treated with care. I ate all that I was served. I’m glad to update to 5 stars. It’s going to take time to go through the menu and I’m stuck on the cajun dishes. I’ve not even tried the Italian ones yet. If you like food and haven’t tried Osmo’s do yourself a favor. I’ve not had anything close in Austin and I’ve been here 6 years.

This place is great! The food is deeeelicious. I’m a big fan of the special cheese they put in their eggplant parm sandwiches, it’s pretty much amazing. The Saturday beignets are like being back in NOLA. The boypoys are delish like nowhere else in town. Also, Kent and Robin are the nicest people around. They’ve remembered my name since I stopped by for an order on their opening day when they must have seen a bagillion people. They always have smiles on their faces and something nice to say. They once disembarked the kitchen to save me from a grifter who they thought might take advantage of me. Can’t say enough about what a worthwhile place this is to hang out and have a meal!

I have never posted a review for anything before this, but Osmo’s Kitchen is amazing! We split an order of mussels for an appetizer, then each had an order of the Spaghetti Puttanesca and it was all just delicious. Too cold to eat it there, but brought it home and it was still piping hot. The bread was delicious, too! We will be back for sure!

Cajun food trailer. My boyfriend’s mom is a straight up coon-ass and she would bash this place to the floor, but I thought it was decent trailer food. The owners seem very passionate about their product. I hope they do well behind the Crowbar. I’d stick to what’s safe– the catfish po-boy

When someone mentions New Orleans, I start thinking«Mmmm, beignets.» I’m pretty sure if I lived in New Orleans and someone mentioned Austin, I’d start thinking, «Mmmm, no beignets.» Well, maybe that’s not exactly what I would think, but you get the point. But there is one exception here: Every Saturday at noon, the Osmo’s Kitchen trailer on Barton Springs makes beignets, and it’s the only time they do it. Are they good? Yes. Are they big and hot and smothered with powdered sugar? Yes. Are they better than the beignets at Café Du Monde? C’mon, nothing beats that experience, but it’s the closest thing we have going for us. Incidentally, I bring or make my own version of Café au Lait, since Osmo’s doesn’t offer an equivalent anyway. I also haven’t tried any of their regular Cajun and Creole specialties, simply because I haven’t been in the mood lately. But other Unilocal reviews seem positive, and I’ll definitely do an update when I get around to their gumbo and red beans & rice. In the meantime, if you’re wondering what might be a little different on a random Saturday, think beignets. I’m pretty sure at some point we’ll see Austin’s first Beignet & Au Lait trailer, hopefully right next to Austin’s first Kosher Balut and Ramen stand. But until that time, the beignets from Osmo’s will be my secret Saturday connection to Jackson Square.

Looking for a good Po’Boy near downtown, found this trailer… I got the Fried Oyster Poorboy on spicy coleslaw $ 8.75 1. The Poorboy tasted great, the Bread had a nice little outer crunch while the fried oysters were perfectly done(warm and crispity), the coleslaw was good too, just wish there was a little more of it in there so it could hold its place. The portion of slaw seemed so small, it was as if the slaw wasn’t even there in the mix. 2. Now for the down side. Maybe I am chinchy, but to me, $ 8.75 should get me more than just a sandwich, maybe a side could come with it, I don’t like spending $ 10 + for lunch. Over all, I loved the sandwich, great flavor, but the size of the portion for the cost of it, is a little off putting. Either make the sandwich a bit bigger, or add a free side, or lower the price and I would regular this trailer!

I grabbed some lunch here with a friend and it was pretty good. The fried oysters were really great and the french fries were nice and thin. Yum. I wish the cold weather didn’t cool everything off so quickly. The folks operating the cart were nice and my friends gumbo was pretty good. I though it needed a little salt but I love salt and its easy to add more. The slaw is spicy with a mustard base. Overall, pretty good. I would stop by again.

Stacy B’s review had me nervous as I too was using a Living Social coupon and hate when businesses act angry when I try to use them — c’mon if you don’t want to honor the coupons then don’t offer them. But — the coupon went off without a hitch, and the lady in question could not have been any nicer and accommodating, even bringing our food out to us in our car since it was raining. And the food was exceptional. We had the special, blackened catfish with alfredo sauce and craw-fish, gumbo, and a fried oyster po-boy. All were really really good. The slaw on the po-boy is mustardy and delicious. I’m ready to go back today! This is one of the best trailers I’ve eaten at, as well as some of the best Cajun food I’ve had west of the Sabine.

I came here for the first time with a Living Social coupon. When I went to the window, I had the coupon in my hand and said, «I’d like the…» when the woman in the trailor interrupted with, «I need your paperwork first.» Paperwork? I felt like I was giving blood. From that point on, I was dealing with angry nurse who can’t hear behind the screen. I haven’t received ruder service since I last at at Texas Chili Parlor or Leaf. I think she was going for the soup nazi thing, but the food isn’t good enough to endure the terrible customer service. The guy/cook inside seemed super nice to customers, but she was quite awful. Plus recycling would be nice. I hate to diss a mom and pop place, but don’t be so hateful to the customers please…

Their oyster poor-boys are exquisite, as good as anything I’ve had in New Orleans and certainly the best in Austin currently. The oysters are succulent and perfectly fried, served on a light, crisp roll with spicy cole slaw. The other poor boys and Cajun plates look good too, but it will require an act of will on my part not to order the oyster poor-boy.

The tartar sauce is A-MAZING. Paired with the fries… oh lordy! I had one of the daily specials — linguine pesto with sundried tomatoes, and it was decent. I probably should have gotten a po’boy or a cajun entrée though. The guyfriend had fried catfish, which was yummy. We also had the chocolate chip Heath bar cookie and a brownie because they were all out of beignets. The desserts were just okay. The guy manning the trailer was really nice. They also have plenty of seating.

Austin was in desperate need of a good po boy. Sure, there are a few places to fill a po boy craving, but Osmo’s is po boy purrrfection. Crunchy bread, but not so crunchy you can’t bite into it. Oysters were large, crispy, tasty and plentiful. Good size sandwich, priced at $ 8.75. Didn’t try any of the italian side this time, but will be back.

Enjoyed a great shrimp poboy from Osmo’s today, and will be at Osmo’s tomorrow(Saturday) when the begniets are ready at noon or so. Very good food and very nice owners!

Delicious Red Beans and Rice followed by a blackberry cobbler that tastes like homemade… that’s what I’m talking about! I love the fact that this family is doing Cajun and Italian. they are saying bring it on and delivering. I will be back!

I have not written a review in over a year what with FaceBook and the fact that I’m not in front of the computer, etc… Getting to the point, after the budget crisis and other things led to my own budget tightening so I don’t eat out much these days. But this one time I got lucky… Really, some of the best food i’ve had in Austin. –Good prices will keep you coming back if the quality of the food. –It heralds an Italian American«Plein-Air/Aire Libre» ambience with plenty of people watching. –Everything I had was delicious. It’s like gourmet comfort food that romanticizes the New Jersey«gravy» meet New Orleans«Roux» flavor which is a taste explosion. –This is a hidden gem that I hope develops into a steady place to eat«gourmet on a budget». Take a date or make it your hot lunch spot! You’ll thank me later.

«Meh. I’ve experienced better» sums it up. My girlfriend and I went here today and I was looking forward to it. I love cajun, and I figured a cajun trailer must be great… I got the Shrimp and Oyster fried platter($ 8.50). While the shrimp was pretty good, the oysters were definitely below average. The size of the portion was pretty disappointing. For $ 8.50, I recieved 3 fried shrimp and 3 fried oysters… with some soggy fries. Doesnt that seem kinda skimpy? My gf ordered the catfish po’boy and she said was it was decent, not the best, not the worst. For dessert we ordered their beignets. Ever since Cresent City Beignets closed, Ive been searchin everywhere for a substitute. Alligator Grill’s «beignets» were not even close. They were actually more like sopaphias(spell?). Gourdoughs«big easy» donuts is really tasty actually. But these«beignets» we had at Osmo’s was not good at all. They were more-so biscuits, like the biscuits you can find at a chinese buffet place. 5 biscuits for $ 3 just aint worth it to me. So while the fried shrimp was good, the lack of shrimp was disappointing, along with the not very good oysters. 3 shrimp + 3 oysters + soggy fries for $ 8.50 is not good value at all. Po boy was so so, and the beignets were probably the biggest disappointment of all. The fact that Im not giving this place 1 star is b/c of how tasty the shrimp was, but they definitely need to improve other parts of their operation.

The blackened catfish Po Boy is excellent. You can get it with either spicy slaw(mild spice) or lettuce and tomato. The gumbo is tasty(barely spicy), but a bit soupier than I’m used to. The Penne Putanesca is one of my favorite things I’ve tried here! My friend ordered it and it looked bland, but you can really taste a lot of flavor in this simple pasta. I would order it again!

This is the new red trailer behind Sno-Beach on Barton Springs. I went to check it out today and was happy to find that they serve gumbos, étouffée, and po-boys. Austin has plenty of places to get a taco, but we are severely deficient in the po-boy category so this is a welcome addition to the trailer crowd. I had a Fried Catfish Po-Boy with spicy slaw on french bread. It was tasty and arrived in a perfectly sized lunch portion. I look forward to coming back and trying the gumbo. Osmo’s + Sno-Beach = WIN!
