Desire Sweet Shoppe

This little candy store is hidden away down a corridor on the main street of Avila Beach. You can’t see it from the street and, as of this past week, they have no signs on the main street to let you know they exist. I found it by accident while walking around one morning but it was closed. There were no hours posted anywhere. I came back the next day in the early afternoon and it was still closed. One last attempt later that day found it open!
The store has rows of baskets full of every flavor of salt water taffy imaginable as well as many hard candies and some old-​time candy (like cow tails — do you remember those?). You grab a basket from the counter and then fill it with as much candy as you want. Price was $ 12. per pound when I was there which seemed a bit high.
It’s a fun store to visit and I hope they increase their visibility so people find them and enjoy the treats they offer.
