The menudo was ok, the soup was watery and flavorless. Definitely not best in town. Our waiter was nice and courteous but forgot to come check on our drinks. We just ask the bus boy to get our waiter and he did. They serve chips and salsa when you sit down and they are very delicious. Salsa has a nice flavor and chips are thin and crisp.

Well I’m giving the 5 stars to the owner. For his prompt response I had a problem with my to-go order. And when he became award of it. I was contacted immediately. So thank you Joe and thank you Jose. I will be back.

Best Mexican rice I’ve had other than mine. Salsa was very thin, typical of old authentic Mexican restaurants. Beans were good because they’re made with vegetable oil instead of lard. The vegetable fajitas were served on the plate with rice and beans instead of coming out sizzling with a heat candle below as in most Mexican restaurants. Would never get the fajitas again because of that.

Went here today for lunch fufor the 1st time. Bad, not horrible but not good. As you walk in you’ll smell a wet carpet or old building smell. There were 5 if us. 2 ladies ordered the fajita special, even brought to them the waiter said«well done» because both were extra charred.(1 lady said«I didn’t order well done»). My «best in Bakersfield menudo» was just EH! And it was a small bowl for $ 8.55. The other 2 ladies were OK with their food. I will never return there.

Loved it here. This is my second time here. I get their shrimp cocktail and it is so huge and so good! My drink is always full and the waitresses stop and check on us frequently. Very nice family place. Not to mention unique decorations. Great place to stop in for lunch or dinner.

Although Sushi is my favorite food, Mexican food places high on my chart as well. Casa Munoz has great service and great tasting food. My favorite is the chili rellano. Chips have always been fresh and their salsa is very tasty. This place is always busy at lunch time, so its best to stop in aroune 11ish.

I found this place a few years ago while taking my friend to her cancer appointments here in Bakersfield. She loved to eat here and thought the food was delicious. I love this place! I always order the taco & enchilada combo and it’s always very delicious. I like the restaurant atmosphere too. I’m very particular about the Mexican Food and I must say this place really cooks with love. Thank you for many great visits. I’m from Porterville and will gladly drive out of my way to eat your fine cuisine. The iced tea is fresh brewed which makes the visit even more pleasant. The young waiter is always kind and is very helpful.

Juan my waiter greeted me within a minute of being seated by the hostess. He followed up with my drink request and offered the whole bean or refried bean option on my combination plate, which I appreciated because I prefer refried beans. I ordered the Two Chile Rellenos Combination plate. I asked juan if the Rellenos are same day fresh… Juan reassured me they are made fresh daily, which I appreciate because they have much better flavor same day. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Just enough diner chatter to make it comfortable. Also they have a flowing water fountain somewhere as I can hear it. It adds a very nice sound while dining. They have two huge big screens for those who love sports. It is a Monday evening and a few famalies are currently dining. The place is very clean. The chips and salsa are very fresh. The salsa is a tomato paste with bits of pepper and a cumin flavor. Nice. My dinner has arrived and I must say! Wow!” The chile Rellenos are the largest ones I have yet seen in Bakersfield. If not for a picture no one would understand what I mean by huge! or perhaps disbelieve me. So check out the picture! As promised the chile Rellenos were every bit as fresh as Juan’s claim. I learned a bit about Juan who has been working for Casa Munoz for 10 years and is orginally from Jalisco. Wonderful personable waiter who loves his job and has regulars as a few walked out and shook his hand until next time. Definately coming back! This is the kind of place that feels like home and family. So come check out Casa Munoz the next time you want a great Mexican food dining experience. Best Value Bakersfield!(Two Chile Rellenos Combination plate $ 11.50)

I can truthfully say the food was awful. The refried beans tasted like dish soap, the rice had a strange taste I have never experienced before and my ground beef tacos were literally wet and soggy with no seasoning in the meat, one large chunk of tomato(looked like the center of a tomato), lettuce and a very small amount of cheese. I ate one taco, a small amount of beans, and a fork full of rice. That was all I could stomach as I was getting nauseous. I hope this was an anomaly and the food is normally better but judging from some of the other reviews I don’t think so. I noticed that most of the good reviews came from people that said they have been coming here for years. They seem to have a sense of loyalty in their critiques. Now the service. Could not have been better. Polite attentive and accommodating.

Casa Muñoz is not only the best margarita in town, they are the best Mexican food place in town. We come here every Tuesday for Taco Tuesday. Definitely worth the trip to the east side if you don’t live over here.

I’ve been coming here since my teenage years and that was a looooong time ago! Most of the regular staff know us and know exactly what we like when we sit down. That’s a family atmosphere. I’ve never had a bad meal here, food is great! Cadillac margaritas are really good.

One of my go-to places for Mexican food in Bakersfield. The guacamole and salsa are great and there albondigas soup is the best I’ve found in town. They have a funny hat for birthday songs and they used to give you a Polaroid of you in the hat on your B-day. Not sure if they still do that. The service is good and there is plenty of parking & seating. Good family place. Not for a fancy date.

Special burrito with rice and beans never fails. The rice and beans are always excellent. One of the better, if not the best Mexican restaurants in town. Other good options are a summer enchilada or anything from the combo menu.

Good margaritas… but no drink menu… It’s a little bit on a inconvenience to have to ask the waitress for what type of drinks they have :(

We came here on a Friday afternoon after attending a funeral and it was late afternoon, so it was pretty cleared out. We were promptly greeted and seated in a booth. Our drink order taken and chips and salsa delivered immediately and after a long service we were starving. It has been quite a few years since I’ve been here and I was shocked to see how much they’ve gone up in their prices. It is Mexican food and the lunch special was not so much a special. So I opted to order off the a la carte menu due to the fact I don’t eat much. I chose two carne asada tacos with onions and cilantro with soft corn tortillas. And a Dr. Pepper to drink. My companions ordered enchiladas suizas and the other two crunchy tacos a la carte also. First when our food came out the enchiladas dish looked amazing and she said it was very good. The other one said her two crunchy tacos also were very good. Now mine, only one came out and said the other was being prepared, I just cancelled because I already filled up on chips and salsa and why wasn’t both of them ready at the same time? Oh well their loss, but one soft taco and a Dr. Pepper for $ 7 seemed a bit high for mediocre food. I was disappointed because this used to be one of my favorite restaurants on this side of town.

Its kind of a hole in the wall but don’t let the looks fool you. I’ve been coming here for years for random lunches and sometimes dinner. The food is quick and amazing. The sopes and micheladas are my favorite. Never been disappointed here. The menu is very simple but they perfect it.

Casa Munoz has been around for ages. Owned by a local Bakersfield family for many years. It’s standard Mexican fare for most Bakersfield residents. The location is quite far from my side of town. So the few times I’ve been it’s on my lunch hour. They always manage to get us in and out in under 45 minutes. That is, if you get in before the 12:15 lunch madness. The parking lot can be a total nightmare. It’s simply not built for trucks. There’s been a few occasions where I’ve seen smaller cars blocked in by two adjacent long bed trucks. Hopefully, they were all in the same party. The building has a retro Mexican feel. It’s got that 60s vibe, but with Latin flare. The indoor/outdoor garden thing is kind of interesting. Sometimes they jazz it up with seasonal decorations. The salsa is quite mild. I prefer something with more of a kick, but they cater to their clientele. I’ve only ever ordered one thing in the multiple times we’ve visited, the Casa Munoz Special Burrito. Which I swear used to be Burrito Especial on the menu, but has been since changed to its English translation. I still order it as the Burrito Especial, which raises a few eyebrows in our party. Rice and Beans are always extra — and while not the best ever, it’s worth the extra dollar or so. The chile verde in the burrito could use a little added kick. It’s a tad bland, but the abundance of melted cheese on the burrito makes up for it. Service is great. Always friendly and always attentive. If you’re looking for real authentic Mexican food there’s much better in town. But Casa Munoz is solid for a group setting where everyone will walk away satisfied.
