Amazing atmosphere, live music all the time and the bartender, Bethany was one of the best I have seen in a long time.

We love the house, we only go because Emily is the best ! Ok the horse its self is great but emily makes us enjoy it so much more. We talk about the fun we had with her when we are sitting at home on the couch or out with friends. Thanks Emily, we love you !

Bethany was awesome and very accommodating. She suggested the infusions and would come back to the horse just to see her! Love, Leigh, Paxton and Janet

Came in the for the first time on Friday and«Liz» was my bartender. She was not only easy on the eyes and very approachable. She provided amazing service and a great time. I will definitely be back and I hope that she is working when I come back.

Not only does this bar have an awesome name but it is the last known location Edgar Allan Poe was seen alive, how’s that for Baltimore history? Actually he was found passed out outside the front doors on the cobblestone! How cool is that? Okay aside from the historical aspects, let me tell you why this place is amazing. Can you say house infused whiskey??? They have a few flavors to choose from my favorite is Tennessee fire. This predates Fireball and it is just so smooth you will want to sip it!!! They also have other flavors that rotate, last time I was there they had honey and apple as well. And don’t let me forget to tell you about the ow ceilings, saddle chairs, and adorable décor… all worth mentioning of course because hey are too cute! Oh and Sam and Jose are Fantabulous — super attentive and helpful! Any and every time I have friends and family in town, I take them here for the history, the whiskey, and the atmosphere!

The Horse is an awesome concept and seems like a great spot to be. The employees are unfortunately some of the rudest people you will ever meet. Not one person there will make you feel welcomed and they treat you like they only want to make money off of you and don’t care about making you enjoy your experience. I highly suggest to avoid this place and go to a good establishment such as Barcocina. They have a great atmosphere and hire people who make you feel welcomed.

I used to love this place. But apparently when the time nears 1am, they cut off the line. Even if youve been waiting for 40 minutes. I used to swear by this place but the guy working the door ruined my respect for it. He was unprofessional, let others with«connections» in even tho he turned away multiple customers who waited patiently. He also told me to «relax» and«calm down» when i reacted to him letting others in and looking the other way… I will NOLONGER be giving you my drunken business.

Pretty whatevers bar in my opinion. Its pretty divey, which isnt my scene. Also its kind of an older crowd. They got a live band. The drinks arent too pricey, which is good. Would be better if they had more craft. Probably wont stop by again.

This bar is not for everyone, its only for people who actually LIKE to have a good time. If you are a miserable person and like to surround yourself with misery than the horse is most definitely not the place for you. Waiting in line to get in or for a drink is a major issue for those miserable people, heaven forbid some good conversation and random line hottie introduction could be disastrous for your life goal of being negative. With that being said, all you happy go lucky people looking to jam out to live music by one of the most talented selection of local cover bands this is DEFINITELY the place for you! Although Unilocal has kind of went down the toilet cause of those damn liberals(gotta blame someone) i still take the time to praise local business on here. I will admit i do frequent this establishment on regular basis and the reason for that is because they have earned my support throughout the years of enjoying countless weekend nights of debauchery and many special occasions. Take the time if you are tourist to stop in for a jack daniel infusion or my personal favorite the homemade strawberry tequilla on the Cantina side. Kudos Horse and to its staff for making all patrons feel like home!

The historical element in the place makes it very special. It was founded in 1775 and been through a lot. While there you cannot but imagine the sailors who use fells point harbor drinking or the revolutionists after the war drinking for the victory. Their special jack daniel’s blends are very unique and recommended.

I was here for a work-related event a few weeks ago and thought I would credit this saloon with a solid review. The entire staff, literally every employee I encountered, were super hospitable and helpful. Our group had a lot of annoying questions about specials and all the bartenders did an amazing job pretending we weren’t making them want to jump a bridge. A woman who was helping to set up the event, who I think was a manager, was one of the most friendly hospitality workers I’ve ever met. When I arrived she was all smiles and courtesy, and when I got completely blackout hammered while trying to survive an open-bar, she patiently waited with me while I tried to find a ride home. The tap selection was well-varied and they had some interesting seasonal selections– including a jalapeño IPA from Jailbreak. I don’t know much about the liquor selection because, by the time I got to that part of the night, I was already drowning in Gentleman Jack. The happy-hour food was actually pretty good, mainly the sliders, but the sauce that comes with the fried pickles kind of burned when I threw it up on the way home. I assume most of you visiting this place will behave yourselves a little more responsibly and not encounter some of these issues. I pretty much blacked out leaving, but if I did anything horrible to you guys, at least you have a five-star review to go with it. If I’m ever in Fells Point again, I’ll probably go someplace else out of embarrassment, but if you aren’t me you should absolutely check it out!

I’ve now tried this place twice and each time has just fallen way below my expectations. One side is country music and the other side is wordless EDM music — which, if that’s your thing, go for it, but in my opinion they basically remixed once-good songs into oblivion. There’s also one fine line in the middle of the club where you can hear both genres of music, and it’s just as bad as it sounds. The drinks were moderately priced but the bartenders a little rude even for the crowd. The only redeeming thing about this place is that the crowd seems to be the youngest out of any Fells bar but Max’s. The only way you’ll find me back here is if the horse drags me in.

If you love Jack Daniels then you must visit this spot. They are not lacking in the Jack at all. They have different infusion Jack stations as well as tequila(so you know what station I was at). The few appetizer that we tried were blah but it’s a bar what do you expect. I guess I should have known not to order guacamole from there, now I know. I must say I will go back!

The last couple of times I’ve attempted to go to this bar my boyfriend was stopped by the security. The first time over camo pants(which he had previously worn to this same bar) and tonight because he had on boots. It’s fall, who doesn’t wear boots?! We gave it a second chance because the wings are pretty good but I’m sure there will not be a third. What was even more ironic was there was a guy in the bar with camo shorts on the same night my boyfriend got turned away. Funny right? The next time we are in fells we’ll just have to find another bar. There are plenty to choose from.

It’s Fells, it’s noisy, it has the 20 somethings running around and making fools out of themselves. It’s designed to have a saloon feel, and I actually really enjoyed the infused tequilas. I didn’t quite understand the«here we play dance music» section and the«we have a live band» section right behind it. It was a Friday night, so it was packed to hell, but one of the few places I’ve ever been down in that area that I didn’t need to wait in line for the bathroom. It was ok as a place to drink that other people picked and I just tagged along. I don’t think I’d choose to come back on my own.

For a minute let us not assume that this is some type of historic spot that Edgar Allan Poe used to visit. Without researching this rumor, you would never have known this tale, as the entire establishment screams tourist spot. From the half sleepy door man who found his cell phone more interesting to the high priced menu items, you’ll feel like you have had this experience before. The interior is broken down into multiple bar areas, each branching off of the main walkway, they feel intertwined yet somewhat separate. On a Thursday night at 8 pm only two of the bar areas were in use. The main area had a handful of locals who had come to see a live music performance. The area just behind the front one had a few drinkers and no one attending bar for the first 15 minutes we sat there, feeling like trapped tourists. Eventually a female bar tender came around and we were able to ask for food menus and order drinks. The bar was fully stocked, yet had no semblance of order. Liquor that seemed bottom shelf was up on the top shelf, causing prices ranges to be unclear. The menu states that they have a variety of local craft beers on tap and to ask your server, when I asked for a tap listing I was told that they did not have one. Instead I was forced to walk around and look at the taps. I found that they repeated at each bar area and they only offered around 6 beers, and not the number reported by the menu. The beers were not local, instead I found them to be mainstream and domestics. Upon returning to the bar I sat down and leaned in to read the menu, when I felt the wetness of spilled beer from a horrible pour soak into my $ 100 jacket. I had just come from a funeral service and this was not the ending to my day that I had desired. I shook this off, and concentrated on the food menu. Food offerings were an attempt at creativity on basic concepts. You’ll find your basic chicken sandwiches and burgers, with creative toppings attempting to turn the mundane into something more exciting. I ordered a chicken and BBQ bacon sandwich with fries, and sat back on the oddly shaped wooden horse saddle chair, taking in the surrounding environment. The interior was mostly exposed dark woods, rustic, and felt like a horse barn. Dark lighting accentuated the bar area and provided no useful patron lighting. This was why I was unable to see the large puddle of spilled beer laying on the bar top. I did not see any games or forms of entertainment other than the live performers. I noticed some type of mixed concoctions behind the bar, labeled as Jack & «something». Having satisfactorily compared notes with my companions, I got up and looked around the non-occupied bar areas. These areas were much smaller and felt like overflow spots for busy nights. They also felt like traps, I could easily view myself caught at one of these areas unable to pass through a packed crowd. I eventually found myself in the bathroom, washing my hands via an interesting faucet that looked like the spout of an underground well. By the time I returned I had only about a 15 minute wait until my food arrived. The chicken was thick and much larger than the bread it was served on. It tasted like the grill, which on this occasion I found enjoyable. The topped BBQ sauce was sweet and accompanied the bacon well. The included fries were a very small portion, and for the price of the meal providing more filler like fries and produce would have been a welcomed addition. Overall I enjoyed the food and my companions also had fond things to say about their choice of meal. This location was an interesting spot and I am not disappointed that I took the detour to check it out. Parking was found just 1 block away for $ 4 at a parking structure. This area of Baltimore is highly revitalized and fun to walk around, however it is extremely touristy. As for pubs, I wouldn’t go here on a weekly basis for drinks. The prices were a reflection of the area and the service felt somewhat inattentive. This was a nice place to visit, but I wouldn’t spend serious time seeking this place out again.

Very cool bar. Picture a dive bar with old oak wood from floor to bar to ceiling. Saunter your old western chaps in and straddle one of their wooden saddle seats at the bar. Or chill out sipping Jack Daniels at a table while listening to some good live music(Pat Owens is great). We really love coming to this bar. It’s not trendy… but know for sure that this divey-old bar is so much cooler than trendy. It is America’s oldest saloon established in 1775! Must read history: They recently expanded to the space next door, appropriately named«The Horse You Rode Out On.» Very cool because the spaces open up to intermingle but also are separate up front. Pick a side! They are both cool in their own way. You can listen to live music in the original bar or watch football on the screens in the new bar. Bartenders are always friendly and attentive. Dave is great!!! I wish they had a few more beers on tap but they have about 10 different beers on tap with some good rotating craft selections. I’ve never eaten here since there are so many great restaurants in Baltimore.

Have your parents ever told you that they were taking you to the«happiest place on earth»? You automatically assume that they’re taking you to Disneyland. There’s even a sign outside that says«Welcome to the Magic». So you get all excited, you pack your bags, you find your prettiest princess dress. You walk into the gates, and dun dun dun… you’re at the dentist… They proceed to confuse the crap out of you by bringing out the tray of neon braces, laughing gas, sterilized dental equipment, the scary fat dentist dressed like a clown, and relaxing Mozart playing in the background. You wake up feeling confused and really pissed off. Well, that’s how we felt. Allow me to elaborate. First, the inconsistency of prices. We got charged a bunch of random prices for the same order of Grey Goose and Red Bull — oh and without the disclosure that they didn’t serve Red Bull, but some knock-off energy drink. They charged us for a «call drink» once, a «top shelf» drink a few other times, and«add energy» for all cocktails. Who charges extra $ 2 for the knock-off energy drink when you’re already charging $ 12 for top shelf cocktail? So, your drinks are $ 14(w/o tax). Ok sure. My next issue — the inept bartender who clearly didn’t pay attention to the liquor he was pouring and charging for. He didn’t realize that he was pouring an empty bottle of Grey Goose until we told him what he did. He then proceeded to splash a tablespoon off the drink, which mostly consisted of energy drink, and filled it up with a tablespoon of Grey Goose. Not even a 1 second count to appease my observation of his mistake. Ok dude. Thanks for the energy drink?(Receipts will be posted) The acoustics were horrible. I get it, you want to have different vibes in multiple areas of your establishment, but good lord! I think it’s time for a professional installment/repositioning of your speakers. I felt like I was listening to two different playlists in the same«room». I had 1 drink. I was pretty much sober. It was really annoying. And lastly, the bouncers/watchers-on-the-wall and the bartenders. Know when to cut people off. Yea, I get it. Drunk people are easier to get tips from. But when two girls are literally scratching random people up on the dance floor on the verge of wanting to fight strangers and their own friends, then you proceed to give them another drink that they spill all over themselves. That’s an issue. The only positive note was the last bartender we had for the night. He still charged top shelf prices but he was decent enough to ask whether we would take Monster instead of Red Bull. He actually poured the proper amount of liquor. So with that said… No thanks. Definitely was not a fun night. And to those«parents» aka fellow Unilocalers who led me here — whyyyyyyy have you forsaken me?
