I have been taking my +100-year-old violin to Oded’s shop for the past several years for everything from open seams and soundpost adjustments to bow re-hairing, new chin rests, and the purchase of a viola. Oded always provides quick, excellent service on these repairs, often taking care of my violin on the spot. He takes the time to listen carefully during sound post adjustments and work with you to understand your needs. At the same time, he’ll never recommend work that’s not necessary or recommend products you’re not interested in. Getting to his workshop the first time can be a bit dicey if you’re not used to traveling small country roads, but I’ve found a certain charm in driving out there. I enjoy learning more about violins and Oded’s work in the warm atmosphere of his home-based shop. Because his prices are so reasonable and it’s easy to make a quick appointment, I find the drive well worth it. For those interested in occasionally sampling new instruments and bows, Oded always has a supply of both purchased(often modified) and personally crafted instruments(violins, violas, cellos), as well as bows, all of which you can generally take home to try out. These can range from modest student instruments to professional grade ones. Oded can also provide loaners for lengthier repairs on your own instrument. I heartily recommend Kishony Violins. As a serious amateur who’s been playing for over thirty years, I take my violin to Oded for all my needs and always feel very well cared-for.
