The service was slow and the staff was intrusively chatty. I wish businesses would train their employees to recognize that not everyone wants to share every detail of their day, upcoming weekend, and summer plans. Our drinks took fifteen minutes to make when the place was nearly empty. The drinks were overly sugary with far too much ice. The atmosphere was cliché and the décor looked like someone gave their eccentric great aunt three thousand dollars and set her loose in Pottery Barn. The vibe was sad, the drinks bad, no good times were had.

Great coffee and fun place to hang. I especially like the Sunday morning breakfasts and jazz.

My favorite coffee shop. I have tried many of the different beverages. Two that come to mind as favorites are the dirty chai and the Carmel sea salt latte(also great over ice!). I’ve tried many more and have never been disappointed. I’ve had some of the muffins & pastries and they have also been o’ so tasty! Can’t wait to visit more and try more of the food, they have a lot more to offer than just pastries. The baristas are the friendliest! They all see to love what they do, the people they irk with and are always striking up conversation with whoever walks through the door. Finally, the atmosphere is so relaxing and chill. I could say a lot about it, but you should just check it out for yourself to see. I guarantee you, you won’t be disappointed!

A character filled spot with an interesting history, I was not disappointed. Ordered a mocha and the avocado toast, both were absolutely delicious. I’d go as far to say it was the best mocha I’ve had in years. Will be back whenever I’m in Bay City!

So much more than just a coffee shop. Excellent staff. Many great coffee, tea and hot chocolate options. The best part, they have a limited food menu that changes constantly. Caters very well to vegan and vegetarian diets! Very friendly atmosphere, patrons are pleasant and easy going. Don’t miss out!

A very cute set up. The coffee and tea speak for themselves. I ordered the guatamala coffee and loved it. the food they have sounds super delicious and I think it’s all vegan. I know a lady who loves this place and she always gets the Turkey wrap. they have one that was a Buffalo vegan wrap(can’t remember what was in it) and it sounded AMAZING! THINKINGABOUTTRYINGITTOMORROW! I was surprised by the prices as I thought it was gonna be more expensive. If your looking to be in and out it takes a little longer then that but the ambiance makes up for it. The one owner who was on duty was super friendly, with a big smile. It was very nice. Ill be going back.

Was pleasantly surprised to find this gem on an extended visit from Denver in the Fall. Almond milk! Yes, this won me over immediately. And served with excellent coffee and scones. This was my number one escape for peace and ambiance. Great place to catch up on work or just read. Owner is a great wealth of information and I’ll be coming back here whenever I am in Bay City. Like now.

We swung in on a Sunday morning. Traveling through it was easy to find. After walking in we fell in love with h+h Everything was amazing! The drinks, the workers, the pastries, and the atmosphere everything! Wish we could of lounged around all day. Can’t wait to stop in again on our next trip.

A lot of things have improved over the year at H+h. First, the cash-and-carry has been great with the changing selection of craft drinks. The décor is contemporary, but still cozy. As opposed to only carrying Populace Coffee, owner Lyndsay now offers Parlor of Brooklyn, and Heart of Portland. I thoroughly appreciate the addition of Chemex as an option, especially if you’re sharing with a friend! They’ve started doing nitro cold brew on tap, which is a great addition to the drink lineup for beer fans and cold drink days. There’s always someone new to meet or a familiar face hanging around to chat with, which means there’s nothing intimidating about the place. The later hours are a nice improvement as well, but they only apply to weekdays. Make sure to try to brunch menu on weekdays and the waffles on Sundays: they’re all made from sustainable, local ingredients and feature modern, unique flavors you won’t find anywhere else in town!

I occasionally meet with potential clients and this is one of my favorite spots for consultations. It’s clean, professional and hip. The presentation is always fabulous, staff is friendly and helpful with making the right decision. Definitely the go-to spot in bay city.

Great atmosphere. Very cozy. Had a latte and it didn’t disappoint. Beans are locally roasted. Wife and I enjoyed our coffee, sitting in a window seat. Way better than a Starbucks. Wish we had something like this near home.

Hands down BEST coffee I’ve ever had. Came in for the first time yesterday and had to come back for a bigger coffee today. The service is so friendly too, they treat you like they’ve known you for years. I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know!

I’m not a big fan of the coffee here. It would be nice if they had a blended coffee option, rather than just iced. The hot chocolate, however, is great. It tastes exactly like a Dove chocolate. The Italian sodas are also pretty good, but overpriced, and they don’t usually have all of the flavors available.

This is everything I look for in a good coffee shop. Specifically, really good coffee and not a lot of other distractions. My latte was perfect and service was friendly and fast. The décor is restrained and sleek.

Came here when they were populace, and just today came back to see the new style they have going on! First off, everything was made to perfection. The atmosphere is really comfortable and casual, and the barista, in my case, Blake, was really rad and good at making drinks! The espresso was really great, and the cappuccino was very flavorful. Also got my hands on an M-25, so simple, yet just a real excellent drink. I’m looking forward to coming back soon!

Absolutely fantastic customer service! Went to purchase gift card and was greeted by the young woman(owner?) behind the coffee bar like I was a friend, not just an unknown customer. Made me feel welcomed, answered my newbie questions and even called me «Miss»(big kudos when you’re my age)! I was so impressed, that I took time to try a beverage: Dirty Chai — very nice, not sweet, but espresso powerful! Can’t wait to try again when I have time to sit and relax in a comfy and eclectic nook.

There is nothing short of coffee and tea brilliance at Populace. After countless downtown coffee shops cruise along, you get to taste something so original, you can’t keep from remembering it. Also the fact that they bring in sales of unique cheese throws a curveball that is so cool, you can’t help but sample and leave with some. Raclette cheese from northern Michigan is my go to.
