I’ve never wandered out to Bayside before so I had no idea there was such a plethora of ethnic cuisines there. Craving Korean food and already in the neighborhood to run an errand, my boyfriend and I decided to try this brand new restaurant. The restaurant looks like the hull of a wooden boat on the inside, which is pretty cool. Service was very friendly and attentive. We didn’t understand some things on the menu and our waitress was very patient and sweet about explaining things to us. All meals come with Korean green tea and an assortment of 10 different types of pickled veggies(kimchee). Yumminess! We ordered the seafood pancake, which was huge and FULL of octopus and squid. It was absolutely delcious — we saved half of it and stuck it in the oven a couple of days later and it still tasted really good.(reheat in conventional oven for about 5 – 8 mins at 400 degrees). Also, I don’t think it’s on the menu — it’s about $ 12.95, but worth it. We also ordered the beef rice bowl, which was tasty and another seafood dish. I’m not an expert on Korean food, but I really enjoyed my food & my experience here — Recommended!

Grand Opening restaurant. It’s right across from Pho32, so there might be some competition between these two, but then again, Pho32 is 24⁄7. I came on a weekend and it was extremely dead inside. Maybe they need to do more PR. The takeout menu is hand-written photocopies and the selection is quite limited. They’ve lunch special daily. A lot of choices, but for some reason, bibimbap isn’t included and that’s exactly what I wanted, so I had to pay for the entrée price. Service was attentive, but since it’s a new restaurant, the servers aren’t too acquienced with the menu. Banchan was substantial, but small in portion. They even gave us steamed egg, which was very yummy. My friend got a seafood noodle. There was A LOT of noodle, but the soup base got too starchy, also due to the additional potatoes added to the bottom. The bowl was hot throughout the entire consumption process, so definitely something to get during the winter. I got the cold vegetarian bibimbap. I never expect much veggies from any Korean restaurants, but the carrots and cucumbers were fresh. The rice was mochi-mochi sushi rice. Not a big bowl, but it was enough for me, though probably not for a 5’10″ adult. Opt for the noodle bowl if you’re really hungry. Came out to $ 24 with tips for lunch. Not too shabby I guess for a Korean meal. I was going to go to a Greek restaurant, but it got too late in the afternoon and the grand opening flags were calling me in. Guess the flags did their trick. It’s a very clean place. It’s no KTown, but if you’re in the neighborhood, give it a try.
